@Zenardo I don't think their rings work while CP is active. However they walked by the ocean and a river and for some reason didn't clean him off. There are always holes in the Captain Planet universe.

I love this show, this is one of my fav parts. Just a few things:

1. Why Pollution complaining for the sunlight? Isn't radiation one his element?

2. If Planet can't stand the smog, how Pollution isn't suffer on fresh air.

3 Isn't a bit cruel from Captain Planet this "taste of every single element"? He should bring Pollution down to the bottom of the lake or see and he would die fast.

It was badly written, redundant, poor character development, poor story development, bland plots, the title character is nothing more than a dispenser of bad puns and horrid cliches, the themes and messages tend to overide the story and finally overuse of the cliched plot devices. I trust this answers your question.

In the area of story development, Captain Planet is very similiar Masters of the Universe, extremely bad! You can tell in the show that they overuse every story cliche in the book. This story arc is of a prime example of overusing the evil twin and Deus ex machina plot devices. Well I did expect as much from a show who's writers scribble out their scripts using crayons!

@Pegas105 that was sort of the point...it was the early 90's and aimed at kids.somehow i don't think saying "Kids!! stop using paper cuz it kills hundreds of trees! would have worked.so using cliche'd and oversimplified plots is the only effective way to approach them.and it worked on me!

@Jalanko13 I tend to disagree. One can do a show that doesn't outright insult the intelligence of their viewers. One show and a franchise springs to my mind: Exo-Squad and Mobile Suit Gundam. Both are far superior to Captain Planet in story, characters and themes, in my opinion of course.
