and thats why some of us no longer purchase food animals from these places. my animals are raised in the way they like to behave(running,pecking,grazing­,sunning)and when the end comes it is extremely quick. and the actual slaughter is NOT joyful to me. but it IS a necessity and I treat these critters as gently as I possibly can. obviously there are a lot of people in between all of this and many enjoy goading vegans(I do NOT) and the people that behave that way are disgusting to me also.

But if you don't put care into making sure you DO NOT get meat from factory farms (where 99% of the meat in the US comes from) then you not only say this kind of treatment is ok with you, you are actually paying them to go ahead and do it more.

Every one of us has a choice. I chose years ago to never give Factory Farms my money. Back then, my only other choice was to become a vegetarian. Now you have other options: farmer's markets or even online shipping of humanely raised meat.

The meat may be raised humanely but all the animals are shipped off to slaughterhouses in the same horrible manner. Almost all of the animals are injured very severely in transport and then they are all mistreated at the slaughterhouse. So there is no such thing as humane meat.

Not true. You have to ask. The farm I buy my pet's ground prey (I'm vegan) slaughters her own, and the farmer from whom we get supplemental meat and organs for them INSISTS on having the slaughterer come to him. He refuses to send his animals out to strangers.

A problem is the Health Code. If that were easier, more would be able to have the specialist come to their farms so that the animals don't have to go through the terror of transport and die at the hands of strangers who have become immune.

In your case it is the best possible circumstance for the animal. In almost all other humanely raised meat cases they are in the end shipped off to be hurt and abused all the while they are so scared and fearful. I am glad to hear from another vegan sometimes I feel like I am one in a million.
