@ProWrestlingDynasty I'm pretty sure it can mean cut. I believe it's the same word as kiri in harakiri (cutting the stomach). I actually have heard the enzuigiri being referred to as a "back brain kick", but I didn't know enzui actually means that, thanks.
Man, Inoki is probably one of my favorites. I''ve just started digging up old matches of his. I just wish I knew how to speak Japanese. I can't understand a dangg thing the announccers are saying!
ALL wrestlers are fighters, it takes allot more skill to do these types of moves and NOT hurt your opponent than the other option which is probably breaking there bones at best. Wrestling is a legitimate fighting style, and besides that Inoki is a martial artist, so ya he's a real fighter
not at all, he Is in the sense that he was a huge wrestling star. but he is much much MUCH more talented in the ring and is a bigger star(in my opinion)
@gfhostrider I suppose you just started watching wrestling eh? The cobra twist stretches the abdomen of your opponent and if you apply it perfectly it will take its toll...BIG TIME.
So, SD, what's your take on Inoki being inducted in the WWE HOF? I, for one, think it's pretty cool that they're starting to induct true legends of the sport, regardless of whether they actually spent any time in WWE or not. Plus, maybe the exposure helps draw American fans to check out puro - or, at the very least, this vid will pick up a few thousand hits. haha
The difference between Jumbo and Inoki is that Inoki co-promoted with WWF/WCW, while Jumbo held a title that WWE would eventually gain ownership of. That's not to say that Jumbo doesn't deserve it, but he just didn't work with the WWF all that much in his life.
realistically if the WWE HOF was fair, kawada, takayama, ace, akiyama, taue, kobashi, chono, misiawa, mutoh, and a hell of a lot of others would be in there. But the WWE isn't really a "wrestling" company, they are an entertainment company devoid of much respect for the sport they "promote". It is a company driven by money, control and a huge ego. The real wrestling hall of fame would include these along with north American wrestling talents.
great vid dragon.all the vids i have seen of yours are top notch, plus you have great knowledge on wretling history. what is your take on hogan in tna?
Now Antonio Inoki is probably the defining name in Japanese wrestling. He's very well-known around the world, even in the U.S. Now I say he's the defining name because he's the only Asian to ever hold the WWF Championship (sadly, unrecognized to this day by WWE). He faced off against Muhammad Ali (ended in a draw). He faced & beat Ric Flair in front of 190,000 fans in Mayday Stadium in S. Korea. Inoki is a legend, both as a promoter & as a wrestler.
You're not a jerk for saying that, come on. That was a correction, I'm open to those. I can't believe they fought in North Korea. Well, mistakes happen, & you get the message of my comment right?
Indeed. I actually went and looked in Flair's book to make sure. The story is nuts. Flair said he had to pay respects to Kim Jong Il (or maybe the other one...can't remember at the moment) statues. Muhammad Ali had some funny stuff to say about it....read the book, it's interesting.

In my opinion Antonio Inoki's the best wrestler to ever come out of Japan

Damn, what a high angle on that German on Murdoch O_O And he used to do Abisegiri! Didn't know he had that one. After so many matches of Inoki I've seen, he continues to amaze me...
LOL! I recognize all the moves from SNES's Super Fire Pro Wrestling!
I only came to know Inoki recently (because of the fight with Ali) , but played the game a long time ago!

Funny that they always write enzuiGIRI. GERI means kick. Giri means to cut.
brottarnacke 6 months ago
@brottarnacke I thought Giri meant chop and Enzui is the japanese translation of the lower part of your brain.
