The 2nd Captain who dieds name was David Joseph Silviera. He was born and raised in San Diego. he was 50 years old, He was survivied by his parents Elias who just passed away july 2010 survivied by His Mother Celeste, sisters LInda, Deborah and Donna.. also 8 nieces & nephews! I am his first cousin Celine.. We mis him very much! Such a sad Easter for our family!

I watched Mayday Bering Sea on Discovery Channel last night. So sad. I cried and prayed for the repose of the souls who didn't make it. After watching this show, my respect level for the US Coast Guard has gone up considerably. True heroes they are.

I just watched the rescue on discovery channel and it was the first time something on tv made me tear up. I also had a friend die infront of me. Heart goes out to that big bro

I never knew this video was here. Just wanna say that "Pete" as he liked to be called was a very good friend to me. I served on the Patriot and he pulled me through some tough times.

I just wish that Fishermen like that of Pete and anyone who braves the Bering Sea got as much publicity and support as those from the Discovery show. It's just as dangerous, but there are few who know it.

I worked on the Ranger back in 94, I'm very sorry for the crewmembers who did not make it.

why did coast guard give waiver after jan 08, why was the crack in stern last year not done to ship yard standards,why does coast guard have funds to run high speed zodiaks all over puget sound looking for arabs, but not funds to protect are fishermen.
