It's sort of like a likeable, upbeat hybrid of pop, funk; a sort of blend of more classic rock intertwined with pop-funk in a smooth fusion; probably, leaning more towards pop.
Also, Nathan East's dancing like Super Mario in this here clip is more than awesome.
Yeah, many feel Clapton's 80's stuff sucked but I actually enjoy every album of the 80's - Money and Cigs thru Journeyman.
A bit commercial here and there sure, WB pushing that sales thing, very big drum machine stuff going on in the mid to late 80's but overall, lots of solid Blues Pop Rock with a dash of Funk in there and it works for me!
hello publiusMcpeters. this track is off of the album called AUGUST the album was realeased in 1986.i have a copy of this album on cd. hope this helps.
one of the most things i like about eric clapton are his era's. the young one with JM&BB, cream. and through the drugs onto the era of cocaine (both song AND stuff). going to the era of Run and forever man, which was the end of the young eric clapton in my opinion. than the era of the connorblues.. what eric is now, is nothing more then a completed legend showing what he is still these days. i love him. sorry for my bad english.. i'm dutch
you the man ! nathan east rocks ! it's bad that eric replaced him on the tour with winwood, Nathan is so incredible good on bass i think after Bootsie he is number one !
i dig these lyrics, i knew a girl who i loved and she made it hard for me to run as said clapton but at the end i ran when i knew her willing to keep the relation good is weak.
I bought this video back in the 80's on VHS & it is still one of my fav concert videos of all time. I rushed out to buy "August" the day after I saw it. Tremendous album & full of great songs like this one. The record company should've released more of them as singles cuz they were def hit worthy songs.
To Mbeals-"that black guy" ---Is Nathan East---one of the BEST Bass players to ever hit the stage--He & Greg Phillanges (keyboards) played with Clapton alot during the 80's---BTW Phil Collins is no slouch on the drums --IMO they were all simply magnificent--Just watching Clapton on that Strat makes my day---Thanks ouvigna for posting this L.
No kidding is he great or what!!!! Love him who is he?This band rivals Cream and that's saying something!!! Love it! I was hooked just one look ,easy prey, child's play, something inside of me keeps on tellin me to RUN!!!!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
claptons always had good line ups.. but hes just great with these guys. him and nathan east make any show great. and then you have phil collins and greg phillanganes who are awesomw aswell

is this disco?????????
jtk12593 2 years ago
no, its pop rock, it sounds slightly disco because it has that typical eighties "synth and tinny drums sound".
sammusicman11 2 years ago 3
don't forget the bass with slaps and a progressive line... its like disco... but, isn't.
(Ah, amazing bass line :D).
