I have to admit, when I watched this today in American History at my college, I about cried during this scene. I have seen this movie before but it has been a while since I seen this last. So much tragedy occurs during this scene you can't help to feel sorry for everyone in this. No one wins in the end, it's just that some of the characters survived, all of them lose something.

But, I have to admit hearing it in full surround sound was badass. The action and the music is 10 times as epic.

@kilo4521 No, it's not fake. Probably just a gray-painted canvas stretched over the real boulder that is there, to protect the actors. That pass-through is incredibly tight ( I have been there and climbed this, the North Trail), and there is no way that Hawkeye could "run" through that aperture; they just made it look a little more dramatic. Narrow trail, and it is protected by stanchions and chain-ropes in real life.Peace:-)

@yarbles67 He stood there because he was in shock, both from the wounds and the fact that an old *MOHAWK* just bested him and was staring him in the eye, so that Magua would have the time to think that he was going to die in a moment at the hands of an aging Mohawk, whose son he just killed. The Indians 'count coup' and that's the ultimate coup. It had nothing to do with him being a warrior.
