I was at this show and while watching this clip I was imagining a Dave Alvin/Richard Thompson dual electric tour. It would be a great show, but so far beyond critical mass that a large number of paramedics would be required.

I saw him play in Tucson with the Guilty Women last fall, and loved the show. The first half was acoustic music, full of compassion and conviction, a totally different side of Dave, but then out came the electric guitar. He apologized to those in the front row, said this was the other side of folk music, and then proceeded to thrash and wail. Fantastic riffing, rich lyrical content, delivered with conviction and an intensity rarely seen these days. An unforgettable show from a master songwriter.
