i made this yesterday... only i substituted cottage cheese for the ricotta... i like the taste of ricotta but i'm not a fan of the texture... weird i know... and i also added some fresh baby spinach and jalapenos... i put jalapenos in everything...
Making this right now! I used whole wheat flour and the yeast didn't look as foamy and its super sticky. But you weren't lying AT ALL when you said it doubled in size.
looks sooooooo good!! definitely going to make this! also, for those of us with a bread maker, you can do the dough in that, then take it out before the cooking cycle :)
I watched this video and decided to make it! Figured I knew how to make it after watching so much, So I made the dough using the ingredient list below the vid, and only realized after that I forgot the egg!
I saw the space in between the dough and the filling and assumed the egg would be part of the filling part, not the dough part. That one space has misled me so... just a recommendation to separate the ingredients more appropriately. Hopefully it still turns out okay without it!!
@evilxsugar I'm sorry, it was suppose to be up one line. I've fixed it now, but realize that doesn't help your dough out much. =( Thanks for letting me know, I'll try to be more careful in the future. Silly thing is I read through it like 4 times before I posted it to make sure everything was right and still missed that.
@gdbaby013 You could use any vegetable that they like. If I was making it for myself I'd choose either zucchini, broccoli, spinach, marinated artichokes, asparagus, or tons of onions that have been sauteed because I love onions lol.
LOL "ouch" This looks SO DELICIOUS! I will be making this for dinner sometime this week :) So so sos so so yummy looking. PLEASE do more videos like this.
I made this for dinner last night. It was good but I think next time I will play with the filling a bit. I added onion to mine but it still seemed to need something more either in flavor or maybe I'll add ground turkey. Alltogether very good. Thanks!
I was at the grocery store tonight and found myself standing, looking at my list, right in front of the chili sauce you had in your haul the other night. It was kismet. I had to buy it. Can't wait to try it. This recipe is fantastic. I think I am going to do it with whole wheat flour and more veg and freeze the extras! PS You really did a nice job with the camera on this, too.
These looks delicious!!! I would have an urge to stuff them with pepperonis and marinara sauce though which would defeat the purpose of making it healthy but the veggies look delish too :D
I am so making this for dinner tonight! I think i might put some chicken in mine aswell though, extra protein! Thanks for another great cookin video! xx
@msfili You could add any lean meat that you like, chicken breast or ground turkey would be a good choice. I would cook the meat prior to putting it inside the pockets though.
i'm loving the cooking videos and this looks really good! it would be a good way for me to sneak my veggies in because normally i hate vegetables lol thanks for the vid :-)
@angelbabyjeb I've been having problems with YT lately too. Try reloading the page, I sometimes will have to let videos pre-load a bit, otherwise they've been skipping on me.
@Ingamaybe Cottage cheese would work just as good, just drain and rinse it so you're left with only the curd. My dad and I did this a couple days ago when we made lasanga and it didn't make the lasnaga runny or anything :)
I just ran the nutritionals for this meal on Sparkpeople(dot)com and it's a great healthy option, I'm really impressed! 315 cals, 8.4 fat grams, 45.6 carbs, 4.4 grams of fiber, and 15.6 grams of protein!! That's a lot of protein for no meat! Ahh I could hug you right now! (sorry totally comment spamming you teehee)
@LifeofChet sweet =) the whole wheat flour would be a big plus, and using a 2% or reduced fat mozzarella to cut down on fat, but like I said in the video I'm not willing to go there lol, part-skim ricotta is as far as I'll go. I'm glad you enjoyed the vid!
That looks absolutely delicious. I think I'm going to make it for dinner tomorrow since I've been trying to come up with healthier meals for me and the family.
