  • This national anthem was not for 9/11, not for nazi's but was a mere reflection of how great and grande America was / is. Worldwide immigration for people who want to make a new living, start a new life, have a new opportunity. Awesome song! Gets me fired up for not being an American :)

  • one day i dream to come in americaone day

  • I grew up watching this movie and fell in love with Neil Diamond because of it. I would crawl to wherever I had to to see him in concert. He is my absolute favorite singer ever.

  • I like the bass guitar on this song

  • We came in 1975 on the plane, G-d Bless America!

  • 日本でも「ジャズシンガー」DVD化して欲しいです。

  • @airplanebuilderman The older Gentleman is his Father and the Woman is his Wife.

  • @Chakreasarkyndyn thanks

  • @Chakreasarkyndyn by older gentleman you mean the rather famous Sir Laurence Olivier

  • @loreintuition Of course. I has been a while (almost 15 years) since I have seen the movie and I could not remember off the top of my head who played Cantor Rabinovitch or Molly Bell. Thank you.

  • LOVE, Love, Love!!

  • THIS FUCKING SONG BY THIS ARTIST SAYS IT ALL IF YOU ARE BORN AMERICAN FEEL FORTUNATE--IF YOUR COMING TO AMERICA THEN FEEL PRIVILEGED--AND YOU ARE WELCOME.

  • My bride of 46 years, born in a Nazi work camp, would tell you that this song is what iti is... welcome! It is what it is. Does she like what's happening now? No. Do I? No. I'm Jewish. Remember the ship where all were killed trying for freedom only to be turned back to die? Today? Please spare me the politicians "lines" and those who "deserve" to be here. It is an HONOR to be here. There shoudl never -ever be a short-cut. Too many people have died.

  • The Jazz Singer

  • Reminds me of the Memphis Americans games. :c)

  • Well crafted tune. Saw Neil D. in ILL-amazing! The Uplifting Spirit of this song is illustrated in the fact that, here in 2011, "freedom's light" is now "burning warm" in more & more former dictatorships. I look forward to the day when it's no longer necessary to board boats & planes to achieve prosperity because it will COVER THE entire EARTH. And, the seeds were, largely, planted here; another reason to be very proud of American values. Peace & Love to ALL.

  • 9 people are watching this video on the short bus... trying not to slip on their own drool. Maybe the straps on their helmets are too tight... Maybe they are tone-deaf. Maybe their lobotomy didn't work out... how can you possibly dislike this lol I'm a heavy rock/metal/punk rock guy mostly, but nothing but respect for Neil Diamond. Great song. Great performer. Great post.

  • thanks to my dad, grew up on Neil Diamond and this song

  • Remember to the heroes of 9/11/01. Inspiring song it was then and still rocks!!!

  • @yogafan6500 hell yea!!

  • I saw him in concert when I was 12 years old. When he performed this song cannons went off every time he yelled "TODAY" I was in awe of that performance and was instantly a fan, which made my parents very happy.

  • OTRO MONSTRUO E ICONO DE LA MÚSICA !!! NO HABRÁ OTRO IGUAL!!

  • Great song! I was stationed in Turkey in the mid 80's, it was a remote(unaccompanied assignment). When the plane landed in Istanbul the pilot switched on some music. This sng was playing..kind of a bittersweet memory since I was going to be sepaated from my wife and children for over ayear. Fortunately, at that time there wasn't too much shooting, just a lot of terrorist activity (Achille Lauro, Navy Diver killed, hijackings)..

  • The violins are just epic like you really don't think much of them but then you listen to this song and you're all like BAM THAT'S SOME GOOD VIOLINS

  • @TheInuYashaChick really??

  • Im 14 and i love this

  • I can't believe there can be 6 people that dislikes this song, it's a classic. The way he sings it, you can't beat it. A long time ago I saw a version I think it was outside, and alot of people on stage with him waving flags, it was a real spetacle, I can't seem to find that version of it, but that one was GREAT. He is "the man"

  • This used to be true....now, if you're smart, you're running from America, and getting rid of those dollars for something else.

  • starts at 35 seconds

  • Brilliant !!!

  • There are two movies where the amazing ending has forever been in my mind, this one and rocky 3

  • Terrific song, wow how exciting to rediscover it 30 years after I first heard it. He has a great voice. But I can never imagine Neil Diamond passing as a "rock concert" style performer!

  • Just listened to this through my concrete speakers - absolutely AMAZING sound......and what a song......Thumps up for me every time - just gives me goosebumps all over......

  • its funny u mentioned bin laden bc this song was on a list from clear channel as questionable after sept 11 lol

  • How many musicians does he have backing him? The production (if the musicians are getting union-scale wages) would cost $200,000 a preformance.

  • Ditto. Rot in hell Bin Laden. The royal FU to you.

  • @mzoricak Damn right brother! Hooah! USA!!!

  • this song goes out to you osama bin laden! i know your burning in hell as we speak!

  • Bandit Keith fav song

  • Great song by a great singer!!!

  • I thought that Neil Diamond's acting in the movie was poor, but his singing was tremendous. This is my favorite Neil Diamond song, and it's my favorite version of it.

  • I still prefer the original 1920s movie, but I actually liked this version.

Great songs from a great music artist!

  • Born in East L.A.!

  • remember the simpsons jazz singer parady

  • I remember watching this film when I was 12 or 13. Amazing. This is powerful music. I am now 38. He still knows how to rock.

    Jordan O'Neill.

  • America...Fuck Yeah!

  • lets all remember the latino children who try to come here that ride the beast may god protect you on your jorney here

  • I would but that jacket on E-Bay

  • At a young age in the early 1980's this song and the movie The jazz singer made me a Neil Diamond fan. I'm now 36 and over the years I have taken some crap from friends or i'll get a funny look from them if i same im a fan. But it's funny that once they listen the great songwriting and voice changes some peoples attitudes my wife became a fan, went to a concert and even had a Neil song in our wedding.Thank You for posting the video it brings back alot a memories.

  • Got a family member immigrating to the States and so excited. This song is that experience. Wonderful!

  • The intro to this song is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! The whole song is actually one of the best songs from the 80's

  • timeless

  • WOW I soooo love Neil Diamond is king, I did not know this film had been made, its not yet been released on DVD in the UK yet, does anyone know when it will be? !

This film clip is so brilliant!

  • @geri449 oh yes it has! I have it!

  • This is one of those movies that I like watching on a warm summer day...Neil gave a good performance, being his first movie and all and, of course, Laurence Olivier was absolutely brilliant, as usual.

  • I love this movie, but this is the best part. The man can sing I cried when he sang this. LadyProwler

  • Three people are members of Al-Quaeda.

  • Hatalmas nóta!

  • If this song doesn't give you cold chills nothing will!!!!

  • i am 59 now, my whole family saw him in concert in 1984 and he completed the concert with this song and a Star Of David was formed by lazers. it was the best concert that i had ever attended and that includes the Broadway shows and the symphonies and other "rock' artists. Neil is the GREATEST!!!!

  • brilliant film

  • brilliant film, excellent

  • It has been said that this was the worst thing he and laurence oliver did, bollocks it is one of the best remakes ever made went to see it and as you say bought the record,t shirt, video, dvd,cd, if meeting his father and as he walks away being called yassel not only your eyes but mamas smile MY SON!! does not fill you up then yes you are almost dead cause it does it to me everytime

  • @MrApc45

Everything you say mirrors my feelings!.

Yes, the movie is 'of its time', but I would argue that the basic premise will never change.

Whatever the circumstance, we will forever want want to improve our circumstance.

I am particularly drawn to the opening 10:00 seconds, the blending of the strings and the fingers enthrall me, draw me, rivet me.

It is a visual and audible banquet of the senses.

  • GRAN CANCION Y EXCELENTE VOZ DE LAS MEJORES !!!!!!

  • what a bored audience at 1:05

  • Can match Elvis song for song... and I think Neil's voice is just that little bit better!

  • @Dawn10538 Yuppers, this song is truly a classic!

  • @Dawn10538 There is no way to watch this, if you have seen the movie, without a tear coming to the eye. Daughter and sons grew up with the music and Jazz Singer, and to this day, daughter goes to concerts with me when he is in NYC

  • @Dawn10538 I hate to say it but, the Jazz Singer is so contradictory and heartless.

  • @Clay3613 if you really hated to say it then why did you?

  • neal is very much up there with bob dylan except neal has a better voice

  • TODAY!

  • every one wants to come to here to be free.

  • @coho583 except the liberals

  • @coho583 Na , better to come to Australia where we have great health care, earn at least double the hourly rate and people don't carry guns and kill each other as much.

Nevertheless I saw this movie when I was 12 and yes, Neil is still the greatest.

  • @nikonboy07 I agree for the most part. Oz isn't perfect, but nowhere is. You forgot to say unemployment is nearly half of what it is in the US. However, I lost my job because my employer went bankrupt. There's no unemployment help which has caused my family serious financial problems.

But generally, I prefer it here. The America I left in 97 was MUCH better than now, after Bush killed it. Obama's trying.

--An American who moved to Australia

  • wonderful enchanting song - Neil rocks!!!

  • They can come to America..As Long as they do it Legally...If not speaking for a 2nd generation American, whos family came here thur Ellis Island..get the Freak out of my Dam Country.

  • The best ever! My absolute favourite.

  • i'd love to play the intro on piano correctly, the first 60 seconds. the hal leonard version of this song sucks. this is the correct and accurate version. thanks for putting it up.

@ the guy downthread who did the fist-pump thing randomly, to his bewildered wife: I salute you :)

  • Neil ROCKS

  • love that sparkly shirt

  • The movie was awful, but this song is tremendous. I love both the studio version and this live performance. It's Neil Diamond's best song.

  • A great american song dont forget it.......

  • he was born in a egg off the coast of Newfoundland _____luv HM

  • dam i remember singing this song in front of alot of people when i was in 5th grade

  • Was this on a special occasion at a private club or something? The audience seems pretty well-heeled for Neil Diamond. Like a Hannukah concert or something?

  • @MsLogjam watch the film... it is great/amazing

  • @MsLogjam this is actually recorded from teh movie the jazz singer they filmed the section where he sings America and the movie you need to see i have grown up around neil diamond and love his voice and songs what will i do when he passes?

  • my mum had the movie when were kids and we watched it every week, dancing round the living room!!! This guy's voice is out of this world and even as he got older he never lost it.

  • Anybody who hates immigrants needs to listen to this song. Cant blame immigrants who want to come here. Only place in the world were your race, sex, or religion doesn't matter.

  • @LordGyphon

immigration is great... as long as it's done legally.

  • @LordGyphon Sadly, you're wrong. Discrimination based on race, sex, and religion is still alive and well in the USA.

  • Very nice video and good sound quality... *****

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43 How name that film?
