I know I'm not Brian, but I think this question should be answered ASAP. Burmese Pythons are NOT a beginner snake. They should only be in the hands of expert snake keepers; those who have had a lot of experience keeping snakes in the past and know how to safely handle the big ones.

If you want a good beginner python, Ball Pythons are the way to go. Small, docile, and IMO the best pet python.
