Unfortunately , It seems that alot of people are UN-educated in the proper names of Different Species of Hawks/Falcons unless they're into Falconry or Orinthology. BUT this is The Information age and just as you got on Youtube (internet) to say that ALL Hawks are called chicken hawks, you will find that would be a whackass statement.
I saw 4 crows take flight to attack one for like the 100th time this morning, also known as a Red Hawk. I wish mother nature would just let it kill em. They really have no chance and haven't won a fight yet. Why is nature this way? He could just grab one at a time and send them tumbling. The Chicken hawk seems to always piss off Crows as soon as they catch glimpse of him gliding,,, its on. And the chicken hawk seems to like it cause he only remains defensive, for hours to. Makes no sense.
Thats a prairie falcon, and you should respect them, there numbers are declining, I have chickens, and I have had a few good encouters between my chickens and hawks, but I don't mind them.
Not all hawks are considered Chicken hawks, and being you had to get on the computer to get to YouTube, you can also educate yourselves with the computer. this is the technology/information age. Please take advantage of it while you can. Some Birds of Prey are bird specific, some are rat/mouse and even insect specific. Peace
@nosey15 I saw a sharp shinned hawk actually ignore little birds for something else-I guess eating those squirrels i shot to keep them from eating the bird seed. In fact, different accippiter species did look for the dead squirrels. Here we have the goshawk, the coopers and a pair of sharp shins who live close by.
Note: teh squirrels regularly eat baby birds live and eat their eggs.
Yeah, I have to agree too that this is a Prairie Falcon. Hawk can be used for this species as bird eating raptors such as accipiters and falcons are more closely associated with "hawking" birds out of the sky than are buteos. Now, a buteo is more likely to be called a hawk because they soar and are very common. Just my two cents.
kill it please

Don't mean to be picky here, but it's not a hawk...it' looks like a Prairie Falcon. The marker is the stripe around the eye.

Judging by size it is a young chick rather than a chicken. I doubt this small falcon could kill an adult hen.

Thanks for the video. I have been seeing a chicken hawk flying around my farm. This morning, I found a chicken dead and picked apart just like this.
