Never let an enemy cross your T. If you sail at him you expose your bow to a full broadside. Never expose your stern to his guns at close range. Its the weak part of the ship. Instead sail at a diagnal zigzag toward him, this will allow you to shoot him and makes you less of a target. After you cross his bow (conserve a very close range broardside for max effect) make a turn to port and give him a second broadside from your opposite side, this gives you 2 quick shots at his weak bow

Try not to get raked bow to stern, it's bad.... when you are nose on or stern on and get shot they do a lot of damage. Try to stay out of their field of fire and cross their bow. This is called "Crossing the T" and you can do mad damage. Also if they turn away you can either sail away or turn quick to use guns on your other side. At least that's how they used to do it in the old days.

It's riddled with bugs, immature children clog the servers, and the ship-to-ship combat becomes incredibly boring very quickly. And even the PvP is a joke. No rewards, no penalties. Nothing.

Naval battles take too long, it's easier to spec boarding and use chain shots, swordfighting is so much faster. + You get more loot.
