  • How can you not learn teh pretty part!! >3< To me I think the beginning of the song the very beginning is the best part. I spent forever trying to learn it and my Ring finger has teh pain to prove it (does not use pinky finger. .3. )

  • @SolarExavior

I do know how to play the beginning part however, because I use Guitar Rig 3, there's no way of me changing from clean to distortion easily. So I just left it. Come to think of it, I could have probably took the video in two takes playing the clean part separately haha.

  • boobs by dr. i love boobs

  • this is really good

  • awesome job!

  • Awesome cover and great playing!! keep it up :)

  • I heart your guitar!

  • That's a pretty sweet guitar! :o

  • Люблю тебя! ты супер!

  • @Feuer4ik

    Дзякуй! :)

  • @LaurieBuchananMusic Cлушай ты добилась такого звучания только при помощи гитар рига 3?Если да то помоги с настройками пожалуйста))Кстати хорошо играешь-молодец)

  • @OnPunishment

Я только использую 3 Guitar Rig!

Мои настройки отличаются в зависимости от того, что гитару я использую. Вам просто нужно поиграть с различными настройками, пока не найдете звук, который вы хотите :)

Извините, если это не переводит правильно!

  • @OnPunishment Holy shit I know, right? Gosh you totally just took the Cлушай ты добилась out of my mouth. Seriously, if anyone disagrees with us, I'm gonna настройками their faces off. Best wishes till next time, and remember, Кстати хорошо играешь-молодец. But let's just keep that between you and me. ;)

  • flawless cover!! amazing!!

  • how do you like the yamaha rgx a2, planning to get me one, is it versatile?

  • @wretcheddog

It's a really great guitar! So easy to play too :)

It is very versatile, I usually use this for heavier stuff but it also has a nice clean blues tone to it too :) A really great guitar for the money :)

  • You played that ace, how cool is your Guitar too, looks shaweet

  • This is a really top cover, well played, i also checked out your band too, sounds good, hopefully play a gig sometime :D

  • I'm pretty sure those are natural harmonics not pinch. When I play it (& how I watched Killswitch play it), they use natural harmonics by just "semi" muting the string with the fret hand, instead of pinch harmonic where the action goes down w/ your picking hand (pinching the string between your pick and thumb giving it the squeal that's a little higher pitched than the note in this song).

RANT ASIDE, this is probably my favorite cover of the song, and not just cause you're easy on the eyes.

  • @LazyVrbas

It's definitely pinch harmonics, you can tell from their actual My Curse lesson they did... youtube.com/watch?v=laLK6cG7ewU

If it was a natural harmonic you wouldn't be able to bend the string unless you had a tremolo bar.

    But thank you anyway :)

  • @LaurieBuchananMusic

Very good then, whenever I try to pinch it it always comes out too high... looks like I've got some practicing to do! Hope it wasn't taken as an insult, you're very talented. You can bend natural harmonics though (top string at the very beginning of the 4th fret) and it provides a similar sound, give it a try!

  • @LazyVrbas

Yeah I'm not too great with them myself!

If they're too high try pinching the string near the neck pickup, you get different sounds out of the pinches on different places of the strings :)

No I didn't take it as an insult and thank you!

    Ahh cool, I shall!

  • i like it

  • well done very tight and sounded great :) keep it up

  • Subscribed, cuz you gotta be like 5-6 years younger than me and you are just RIPPING on that guitar, Keep up the good work

  • @Nomnia

    Thank you!

    I really appreciate it :)

  • Very nice! xoxox

  • really good keep rocking plz~~~~:p

  • Casate conmigo ♥___♥ me encanto tu cover

  • @Th3LiquidOcelot

Jaja! Aww gracias se lo agradezco mucho

    Lo siento, no hablo español!

  • @LaurieBuchananMusic hahaha XD Np, i can speak english, so.. your guitar is a yamaha ? ♥ *OO* i have a yamaha rgx C: but in red

  • @Th3LiquidOcelot

Haha! Well that's good! Thought I'd attempt Spanish :')

Indeed it is! There's a red one?! I only thought there were white, black and blue versions. Cool! :D

  • Good cover, nice guitar!! The pinch harmonic isn't special once you can do it ;)

  • i retweet this on twitter =) it is to dam good =D

  • Holy shit.. this sounds fantastic, great cover!

  • Great cover :)

  • I have the same guitar :D rgxa2 right?

I have the blue one though

  • @ilykmlm

    Yes indeedy :)

  • OMFG!!!! you're awsome!!! please check the same cover in my channel!

  • how did you record this?

  • @nerbwalk3r

I used GarageBand to record but used Guitar Rig 3 for the sound.

Then I used my video camera to record me playing added the song and then put the whole thing together using Final Cut Pro :)

  • haha yea i get it. pinch harmonics are hard in songs like by van halen. im no good at it either. you can get a bigger gauge if you want a louder pinch harmonic tho. and as for me, I only have a cheap stARcaster and an amp.. xD ill post p a video of "im alrigh" soon^^

  • @Vid2ube

Yeah definitely! I was using Ernie Ball Super Slinky's for that cover, probably not the best for metal. But I've been practicing alot of blues playing recently which needs lighter strings to do bends efficiently. Which probably didn't help the pinch harmonics, but I won't make that and excuse. They've just never came naturally to me! and I've been playing guitar for over 10 years now haha! Yeah definitely! I'll take a look when you've posted a video :)

  • Ahh. Irig:) my friend was talking about that but I never actually tried it. This video was interesting. Because I knew you weren't exactly playing the artificial harmonic. But you weren't faking the whole cover either. It looked so real too. So howwwwww did you make such tones? I mean it's like I'm listening to the legit music.

  • @Vid2ube

I am actually playing what's heard. However, I will admit I can't do the pinch harmonics too well, so what I did was over dubbed the ones which weren't so good. My pinch harmonics are getting better, but I knew that if I uploaded the song with pretty crap pinches, it wouldn't be the same. I just can't get them at the right frequency to speed and I really wanted to post the video haha! Tone wise, it was a bit of a fluke with just messing around with Guitar Rig really :) Thank you!

  • You play really well. I enjoyed listening :)

  • I posted your video on my school's website to light a fire under the guy guitar players!!

I think it might just work...

  • @MrCampy123

    Haha wicked!

    Lets home so :)

  • @MrCampy123

    *hope

  • keep it up

  • 2:28 - 2:43 is the best part. Idc, I LOVE how it sounds in this video. Good job. =]

  • @DrPaPi23210 Haha thank you!

  • good work laurie!!..check out my channel..maybe we can do a collaboration!

  • im in love with you.......my god!!!!!

  • You should move around when you play. Great cover though

  • @FinalSirmon

Haha yeah but my room is very small, and what you don't see is the pile of junk I'm standing on :')

And the fact that I had learned this song enough to comfortably move without messing up :P

    Thank you!

  • @LaurieBuchananMusic

You are standing on a pile of junk? Someone's short :P.

You would of been fine if you tried moving around... Actually, I don't know you might of hit your bass, but what I meant was you clearly knew the song inside and out. Hell, you looked kind of bored. I mean, there are parts where you must of been like "eh... I bet I can down pick all of this." You should try covering something more difficult, like All New Materials by Periphery. Just a thought.

    Ugh, I am rambling. x. x

  • @FinalSirmon

Ahh yes, most people pick up on that! I'm only 5ft 3! :')

Well, I have moved to a different house now and have my own music room, so I'll have alot more space to move now! I really wasn't bored! That's my concentration face, which I guess looking pretty boring :P And no! I'm not too great at down picking through a whole song haha! It is quite a challenging song for me I must say!

I'd love to cover Periphery, but I honestly think it's too difficult for me at this moment in time :'D

  • perfect sound girl!

  • Yes!! My kind of girl!

  • aahh i love the look of that yamaha guitar. looks space agey eh? sounds amazing too!

  • you are amazing :) fantastic job on this cover!

  • Holy Kaboodles! THAT is what I call nicely done!

Nice girl, nice guitar, nice music.. All in all 5/5

  • HOLY MOLY:O

you're amazing on the guitar, girl

wish i could as good and awesome like you xD

    I fuckin envy you :(

    oh nice cover:)

  • I use the literal same setup just i use a strat not a yamaha XP

  • @Guitarledgend0123

    Haha epic! :)

  • Awesome cover, don't apologize for these mistake, you're feeling what you're playing, that makes your cover 10 millions time better than all those technical perfection freaks out there, glad to see they're still people like you who plays music for the emotions it gives, keep it up.

Gotta make a cover to show off your skills on that synth right behind you tho, as a keyboardist myself i'm sure you got what it takes haha :D

  • @jannewarman32

Thank you for the kind comment! :D

And I wish I could, but unfortunately I'm not so good with it!

It's horrible to play! The weighted keys don't come up quick enough so I can't really play anything half decent on it! And had to buy it for it's size so it could actually fit in my room!

But I'm moving house soon, so hopefully, I'll be able to sell that one and get something a bit better :)

  • @LaurieBuchananMusic

Well, as you don't seems to like weighted keys, you should stay away from 76 or 88 keys keyboard and stick to 61 keys keyboards, they often have a transpose function or the possibility to assign a pitch shift to the modulation wheel, a good intermediate 61 keys keyboard I'd recommend is the Korg x50 (you can use it as a controller, if you wish).

I've been using the x5 (which is the x50 grandfather) for countless years and it never failed me, just an advice tho.

  • @jannewarman32

It's not that I don't like weighted keys, I've played many pianos/keyboards that feel really nice on the hand, it's just where mine is cheap and not made very well at all! And the one I've got has 88 keys and has a transpose function. Really I'll just be looking for the same thing I've got, but a better quality one, so I'll definitely be looking at brands such as Korg, Yamaha etc :)

    Thanks for the advise!

  • @LaurieBuchananMusic is that a les paul i see underneath the guitar your using and next to the neck of the bass xD

  • @luis619master619

    Indeed it is!

A Gibson Les Paul Standard to be exact!

I should really play it in a cover some time! But I really prefer the slimmer neck on my Yamaha! The playability on it is flawless! I always find that the Gibson is too bulky for me as I'm pretty short haha :')

  • put some emotion into it girl. loving it.

  • @muzikaddict2010

    Haha sorry!

I was majorly concentrating on this one :P

  • @LaurieBuchananMusic either way you nailed it. :)

  • Awesome cover!! You've inspired me to continue to learn this song :D you make it look so easy!

  • you are beautiful

    and u play great :)

  • Oh wow.. Im impressed! Keep rocking girl, You got it all, skills and beauty (A)

  • MARRY ME!!!

  • What do you do at 2:28. on the tab i found ur skipping a string. i dunno how to do that and i can't find somethin else on youtube D=

  • @millerahmageftw she plays an powercord but she is skipping the D-string. so she is only playing only octaves. you do that by lightly resting your index finger on the d-string.

  • That's a sick guitar! I was wondering if i should get it or not. nice cover btw

  • @kenisinoregon

    It's a fantastic guitar!

VERY light, and plays beautifully, the neck is really fast and is good with all genres of music.

It's a fantastic guitar for the price!

  • Awesome Cover :D

    do you record directly?

  • @Eman619

    Thank you :)

Indeed I do, I use Guitar Rig 3 for the sound, and GarageBand to record

  • Nice playing, very beautiful guitar!

  • I am so totally hooked on this, I've listened to it a couple of dozen times!

  • wow! you are skilled! keep it up! :D

  • You are fucking AWESOME! :D

  • @Winduz1

    Aww thank you :)

  • This is fucking EPIC , haha rate good:) Sub to my page please :)

  • nice cover

  • wow that was impressive

  • Awesome! I love you, young lady! :) nice choice))

  • @AlexMihalev91

    Haha! Aww thank you :)

  • Haobang ~ You are so good

  • @LikenessDog

    Thank you :)

  • You are so good

  • Your guitar is so pretty :O What is it exactly?

  • @lukass5551

    Haha thank you!

It's a Yamaha RGX A2, fricking amazing guitar!

It's light, the neck is small and plays like a dream!

Is definitely worth every penny :)

  • All these years & I still can't play like that... Watching this makes think I should give up. You're really good. Anyways, keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing what you do next.

  • @PureVentrue

    Aww thank you very much!

    But never give up!

I have the same problem too when I watch a guitarist which I believe is better than myself!

But one day, you'll get to the stage where you're as good as that guitarist, and then you see an even better guitarist, and you up your game again to be as good as them!

You never stop learning on guitar as long as you practice and are patient with your progress :D

  • It sounds beautiful well done Laurie !!!

    Peter :)

  • I LOVE THIS SONG <3

    You nailed it!

  • My favorite song, and you played it like a muse!

  • @ChiskoJuanisimo by the way....... can you please send me a bottle of your skill?.

  • @ChiskoJuanisimo

I'll put it in the post ;)

  • Really impressive!

  • Nice cover yet again! And impressive you can take those grips with your small hand! :O

  • @ImbowProductions

    Haha thank you :)

Yeah I love doing chords like that! They sound epic and are fun to learn/play

So they don't even seem too difficult these days, I guess it's just about building the strength in your fingers to be able to press the notes down accurately :)

  • @LaurieBuchananMusic Well said. :) I just imagined it would be hard to stretch your fingers over five frets on the fretboard with your hand if you know what i mean, but apparently not :D Anyway, keep up the good work. Looking forward for your next videos already!

  • @ImbowProductions

Well, I've been playing guitar since I was 7 years old, so I'm no stranger to stretching my hands across the fretboard :D

Thank you! I also enjoy watching your videos too! :)

  • wow i'm jealous of ur skillz :)

  • i enjoy watching your videos, keeps it up :)

  • WOW This is amazing!! Girl guitarist FTW! \m/

  • @litled432

    Why thank you :)

  • Wickedness

  • LOOK AT THIS BAD ASS-ERY! :D

  • Dude! Your really doing some pro stuff! The playing is perfect! Also the sound quality is INSANELY awesome? What do you use to record?

  • @ForestMan1129

    Hey!

Thanks alot! I really appreciate it :)

I used Guitar Rig 3 and then GarageBand to record it with :)

  • @LaurieBuchananMusic Sweet! gooooood sounds!

  • fuckkkkkk! i'm so impressed you played it almost perfectly! damn! you are teh pr0!

  • @nightspotlight

    Haha thank you :)

  • Pretty damn solid I must admit, your guitar tone has really improved as well :)

  • @amevilee

    Thank you!

I'm glad you think so too! :D

  • fuckingggg awesome :)

  • Should've been at Times of Grace yesterday, Adam D, Joel and Jesse Leech were legends!

    Pro cover btw xx

  • @SSMusicManiac

    Shush Sam!

    And thank you :P

  • @LaurieBuchananMusic whoever disliked it needs to jump off a very high bridge btw ;)

  • Nice cover. Well done on the pinch's, they're horrible to get perfect on the 6th string >.< Can you sweep pick/ would you ever use it? I love the sound of arpeggio's ^^ I've spent the last few months on and off trying to get it down ^.^ The sound you have in this video is awesome, I'm going to try direct recording soon as microphones just don't cut it anymore :') Keep up the awesome covers!

  • @HaiiTommRoxx

    Thank you :)

I can do pretty basic sweeps but it's something I really need to work on, I'm not the fastest player so sweep picking really doesn't come naturally, but I will get better in time :)

Awesome! Yeah I think I'm going to stick with direct recording aswell :)

  • DAY-YAM girl! :-O

  • Nice one! I use Guitar Rig too, for reverbs and delays and ocassionally the amp sound. Your settings and playing sound great!

  • @officialfretsonfire

    Thanks alot :D

  • Good Job!!!
