@willowbreeze121 Uh oh !! Well, I didn't say that you said "the animation was crap", but I dont want to get into it any further with you. I have deleted that previous post of mine, and recomend that you do likewise with that reply of yours. How about it, let's just say that this little exchange never was ?
@willowbreeze121 Here you!! .. Calm down!! Dont have a cow and dont embarase yourself here!! Just take a deep breath, alright ?! A very deep, .. DEEP breath !
@willowbreeze121 true !!!!!! I love the American TV series of the 60s and 70s and 80s because they are the best !!!!! these days i'm seeing Bewitched! when I was little I could see forever!is beautiful!!thanks for this wonderful show!! a big hello from Italy !!!!!!! sorry for my incorrect English!
I would rather have a wooden box than a flat-screen any day, even though I'm a young kid. 60's kids had it all: real music, records, The Munsters, Bewitched, The Addams Family, Jeannie, The Flintstones, and much, much more!
In fact, at my house all of the adults have cell phones(I don't want one) and they have to tell ME to keep up with the times. It's hilarious!
@DisneyBlackJet; If you like 60s culture and dislike some modern stuff, that's fine. But if you never actually lived through that era, I'd be wary of conclusions like "60's kids had it all" on the basis of the popular media that tends to only emphasise the good bits and forget the boring or downright unpleasant aspects. (This applies to 70s and 80s nostalgia too; I'm only(!) old enough to remember the 80s myself!)
I'm not having a go at you so much as saying, don't over-idealise any era.
@NotATube He's right though because in the 60s everything really was more simple and laid back and it had it's downsides like every era but this particular decade was really optimistic and joyful. We weren't in debt and the economy was booming. It was just a fun time to be in!
@boffinme80; and in the US black people were still struggling to achieve their civil rights, and young people were being drafted to fight in Vietnam.
I'm not saying the 60s (or any other era) was all bad, just that "60s kids had it all" etc. by people who didn't live through the time (based on a crap-filtered pop culture) is overly simplistic.
I note that DisneyBlackjet enjoys the benefits of being able to discuss such things through YouTube. Couldn't have done *that* in the 60s!
@NotATube Not everyone went to fight in Vietnam, as it only occured over there and yes blacks were struggling but by the 60s the Civil Rights occured. I'm British so the 60s was without a doubt the best decade for us. The 50s were also great (1954-) but the 60s were absolutely magnificient.
Samantha and Jeannie are still two of the hottest women characters ever created.I always felt that Derwood and Major Nelson were the two greatest twats on TV for being grouchy about having magic pussy at their disposal, and having the willpower to ever leave their homes.
This needs to come back to TVland with I Dream of Jeannie, Munsters, Addams Family, That Girl and Get Smart. I don't know if this show was ever on there but they should have Twilight Zone, too!
Myth Busters needs to do an episode to see whether or not it is possible to ride on a broomstick. I've tried and as far as I can determine it cannot be done.
@32fordcoupegirl I know! it doesn't come on at 4 in the evening. They just flip flop with the show at schedules. That is usually a sign that the show will be taken of the network soon. I hope not.
OOOh! Drop dead gorgeous song! Lots of punch in the arrangement, compression, EQ makes it cut through anything. And it's in GLORIOUS MONO! TV show music nowadays has no balls, no thanks to digital.
I love the TV series! I used to watch re-runs onTVLand of Bewitched, The Munsters, The Brady Bunch, and I love Lucy when I was a little with my auntie! Brings back some good memories : ) I'm only 19 by the way, and I loved these shows I still do and watch them when I can.
One of the greatest, kindest, and most human -friendly sitcoms ever made- And it's storyline, revolved around a gorgeous witch, -ironic, A great cast of artists.
My sister really liked Samantha. Andorra did frighten us. It was a great serial and we where very sad to hear about Dick York's and 'samantha's (don't know the name this moment) dead.
I was a very small girl when we watched it in the tv. I was afraid of the person who flew through the star sparkled heaven and believe it or not, now in my mid-forties I still dream sometimes at night about women flying under that starry sky. :)
Iv been thinking about watching this show but it seems so old and the oldest shows I watch are from the 1990s but it looks good..someone reply to tell me whether I should give it a try :)
@IamHelenKeller That's so sad :( I should have seen that coming, since this show came out in the 50s and she was probably in her twenties which would make her about 80 now, but still... sob
Samantha would pretty much win the catfight over jeannie. The reason is samantha is a little more experienced and responsible. Plus has a powerful (and often annoying) mom and dad and daughter Tabitha by her side. And let's not forget (even though this is off topic) that the show was longer (1964-1972), had the most episodes (254 ep.), and was more popular at the time.
@LadyRedeemer dude i always thought that too!!! lol the second darren is kinda mean and an asshole to Sam, but the first "Derwood" was awsome, idk what happend, he should have never left.
I wasn't born when his show was originally on but when I would get sick and had to stay home I remember watching the reruns on channel 9 after the Bozo show. Those were some good times with grea tv shows. Just not the same anymore.
what little gay boy wished that he had samantha's powers? i know i certainly did. this was one of my favorite shows growing up and i'll still watch it when i come upon it in my surfing! r.i.p. liz.
The show was often hilarious, the guest stars on the show were also great, Paul Lynde, Eudeora as the mother in law, they were really gifted in the art of making people laugh.
I remember the episode when Endora popped a brand new 1966 Chevrolet Impala Convertible into the living room to piss Darvon off, as Samantha shrieked MOTHER!!!!!
Where did you get that nonsense from? she wasn't banging anyone, she was an accomplished stage actress at the time she was offered this show, after it's run she really never liked discussing it. It type casted her for years after, she had done a few other Television programs prior to Bewitched.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Elizabeth Montgomery was smoking hot. They had to get a gay actor to play Darrin, otherwise, he'd be trying to hop on top of her all day long. I was grossed out though that Elizabeth only got this part though because she was banging the producer. I guess some things in Hollywood never change! LOL
I allways remember one episode when Endora was trying to figure out why she was so nice to Darren...and confronted Sam on putting a spell on her...Sam's Responce of "Who me?" was funny.
Endora had no problems putting spells on Sam to teach her a leason..but had issues with it. if it was done to her..lol.
The nose twitch is famous. Liz and her husband William Asher were trying to think of clever ways for her magic to work. She inenvertenly "twitched" her nose, and Asher asked "What did you just do?" Liz replied "What are you talking about?" Asher said "That's it. That's how we're going to make the magic happen."
That series has run in Germany, too. They used this 3rd sesason intro throughout the run, even the seasons with Dick Sargeant as Darrin. They just changed the name and never used the newer intro with an animated Dick Sargeant.
Hey aretta84,I agree with you about Dick York and Jim Carrey.Jim should had been put in the movie and not Will Farrell. And Reese Witherspoon should had been Samantha, not Nicole Kidman. They should had stuck more with the format of the TV series than changing things. When Dick York had to leave the series due to a back injury,Agnes Moorehead was angry they moved on without giving York time to get well,She did not like Dick Sergeant as Darrin.
lol my father kept the VHS from this series and even not being from my era, I loved(and still love) to watch it. So sweet and magic! Absolutely superb.
I always liked more Dick York than Sargent. Aw... lol and dad always said mom's mother was just like Endora! XD
To be honest, I used to twitch my nose like Samantha. I was always disappointed when nothing happened, except for a sore nose.

I seem to remember that the Kravitz house became the Partridge home in the 1970s.

Elizabeth Montgomery was smoking hot. They had to get a gay actor to play Darrin, otherwise, he'd be trying to hop on top of her all day long. I was grossed out though that Elizabeth only got this part though because she was banging the producer. I guess some things in Hollywood never change! LOL

Liz Montgomery was MARRIED to Bill Asher!
Dick York (Darrin #1, 1964-69) was quite heterosexual.
Dick Sargent (Darrin #2, 1969-72 - he was the original choice for the role, but was otherwise occupied in 1964) was gay.

Great work Jantv81
Where are the quotes taken from?
Keep it coming guys.
My friend is holding on to the mouth theory!
She claims to have heard an interview with Montgomery who says she twitched her mouth!! ( no reference)
191fabuloso 2 years ago
Have a bet with a friend.
She stupidly believes that Elizabeth Montgomery was famous for twitching her mouth.
I am trying to educate her about the nose twitch.
Independent comments or support appreciated.

I think Darren looks like Jim Carrey a lot!!
aretta84 2 years ago 5
I never thought about that until now. I had to take a good look, and you're absolutely right!
travis7310 2 years ago
Hey aretta84,I agree with you about Dick York and Jim Carrey.Jim should had been put in the movie and not Will Farrell. And Reese Witherspoon should had been Samantha, not Nicole Kidman. They should had stuck more with the format of the TV series than changing things. When Dick York had to leave the series due to a back injury,Agnes Moorehead was angry they moved on without giving York time to get well,She did not like Dick Sergeant as Darrin.
