  • Wow, I never played this game, but this just goes to show you how lazy some programmers were back in those days on games like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong. If this game can offer progressive challenge from level-to-level, then there's no excuse as to why those other games couldn't do that. Great review.

  • I was going to post that the 2600 was an 8bit system, but looks like someone beat me to it. Regardless, I remember years ago arguing with a salesperson in EBGames because he was telling a customer the same thing about atari being 4bit.

  • The only Atari 2600 I ever liked.

  • not sure if anyone mentioned this or not but don't the airplanes that fly around on the floors look kind of like ones from "Barnstormer"?

  • Thanks for the review; it looks like I'll enjoy Keystone Kapers when it arrives from Ebay! :-D. Also, your accent is awesome ^-^

  • the first crooked cop on a video game Officer Keystone Kelly.

  • This may have been the best game on the Atari 2600. It's definitely in my Top 5. Addicting and fun as hell.

  • Good 'ole mom saved the day.

  • When i played this game i had nightmares about it. For some reason it's still scares me idk it's because of the graphic or the sound. But it's creepy a game for me always.

  • This game actually has one of the more logical plots among the Atari 2600 titles. You're a cop who has to chase after the robber in this building. Avoid running into shit. That's it.

  • You could have gotten a lot of money today for a Keystone Kapers cartridge with Pitfall on it. Misprints like that are valuable for the weirder kind of collectors. I personally wouldn't have bought it, but I know people who would have easily paid 50 dollars or more for a cartridge like that. You could have bought an entire Atari system with that one cartridge.

  • hahahaha it was fuckin' pitfall HAHAHAHA

  • Funny story about the mistake cartridge of pitfall instead of this game. Both are still very fun games. I love both on my atari

  • My favorite game for the Atari

  • so sweet . I loved this game when i was a kid .

Me and my younger brother we had lots of fun

    Thanks alot

  • Nice review man! Very informative

  • Last time I checked the Atari 2600 was 8 bit.

  • @snake2006 and you are correct. :)

  • I LOVE YOUR REVIEWS!!! They take me way back! KEEP IT UP!

  • i got this game with my atari today but sadly i cant play it....yet

the power adaptor is fucked up but i know someone who fixes it half an hour

  • Harry Hooligan is innocent!

  • You could get this mixed up w. Pitfall but it wasn't the same. This had much more of a frantic, darting approach.

It was awesome, and the radar on the bottom was like nothing else out there.

  • @YearOfCam Yeah the games are completely different. We bought Keystone Kapers but brought home a Pitfall cartridge that had been mislabeled as Keystone Kapers

  • @AqualungGameReviews

that could be worth some money now since its a mislabeled game.

  • you sound like elmer fudd lol

  • I'm really missing those times

  • Great review! I just played this game with a real Atari 2600jr that I have (utilizing the Harmony Cart of course). Great stuff - takes awhile to get good at that game though, but you are right, it is addictive! It does somehow remind me of Pitall! though, because of the money bags etc. that you have to collect, some of the identical sound effects, the fast-paced running and all those obstacles. But this is a bit more complex though, multiple levels and an actual 'mission' to catch the crook.

  • What emulator do you use with atari games ? Stella ? I tried it, but it looks all blocky and crappy.

  • I'm pretty sure he uses Stella. I haven't had any problems with it. Have you tried reinstalling it?

  • @WindowsErrorGuy it's oke now

  • yo, you part of the sopranos or what? hey yo vinny

  • I am, so stay on my good side or you'll get whacked. Capisce?

  • alright, ill make sure i stay away from the "stayz"

  • Atari is an 8-bit console

  • dumass its a 4 bit

  • @owensed01 Atari 2600 aka the VCS is an 8-bit console. It uses a MOS Technology 6507 which is an 8-bit processor. The only reason why it isn't graphically like the NES, SMS or any other 8-bit console or computer is because of the limitations in memory and the cartridges. Anyone who thinks the Atari 2600 is a 4-bit system is wrong. It's not hard these days to use Google and look it up on Wikipedia or any other website dedicated to the history of Atari. Check out Atari Age.

  • @deadlygroove1 Lol calm down mate, I was 11 when I wrote that

  • one time my friend got me sonic battle used for my birthday but someone taped the sonic battle sticker on a kirby game so i turned it on then i got mad so after school that day i had too drive to gamestop and buy a real copy of the game but they gave me a refund for the fake game so i did not have to pay for the real game.

  • kirby kicks more fucking ass than shitty sonic, bitch

  • yea a misprinted atari game is probably worth alot of money

  • Hellyea it is, I never even heard of such a thing.

  • I think you're mom should have kept the cartridge. Imagine how much that's worth!

  • The hours I spent on this ... just running around.

  • this game rocked!

    good review.

  • nice Review!

  • COOL

  • Thanks for this review! I played this game as a kid and for years wondered what it was called. Now I know. Thanks!

  • I used to love this game, and had totally forgotten about it until your review. Thanks!

  • I played that game on the MSX 64k, good vid, brings back memories :)

  • I played the Coleco version of the came. Only difference is the characters are thinner and not stumpy looking.

  • Excelent 2600 review.

  • That accident zou had with Keystone Kapers happened to me once with the Nintendo64,I

got goldeneye but when i popped it in it was

    banjo kazooie(another RARE produced game)

but i returned it and got golden eye,oh and

i forgot to mention that i had banjo kazooie at the time.

  • Cool review!

  • O_O. ...O_O! Pitfall?!

    YEEEAAAAHHHH!

    Now this, I gotta see.

    Heeeyyy, Aqualuuuung~

    ...erm, sorry.

  • haha Harry Huligan...I dont know why but I find that funny. Man I want to play that game!!! the only games I played for Atari where Adventure with the ducks...I mean dragons, joust and Kangaroo and Qbert lol Awesome vid man!!

  • Do you have an ICQ? If you do tell me your ICQ number.

  • Sorry don't have one

  • do you think that mislabeled game would be worth anything?

or did that happen all the time?

  • that game would piss me off.

    get back here you fucker!!

  • Awesome review man. I always liked how good the graphics looked on this game. And it has good game play. And then it gets challenging! Good game for sure.

    Keep up the awesome videos!

  • For real? You got a game that was another game?

  • It's a shame you traded back the cartridge dude, as reject items are worth a fortune to some collectors.

But I loved to rent this as a kid and it always came into my head whenever I played Bonanza Bros years later. Even the graphical style is similar.

And gotta love Pitfall! Pitfall II was one of my all-time favourite games 9also the largest ever Atari cart at a whopping 12 megabits!)

  • Very good review. I used to have this game as a kid, and couldn't put it down. I love score based games, and I always thought Atari did it right.

  • I had this game as a kid. I thought that it was pretty cool!

  • I was pretty surprised at how good the graphics are in this game. The animation looks pretty smooth as well.

  • Looks really cool. Good review.

  • this is pretty bad ass. in the way.

  • Nice to see a decent Atari game played up. So much negativity surrounds that console it brings me to tears. Thanks for another solid review.

  • Thanks for the review mate, can't wait for pitfall, used to have it ages ago

  • Another solid looking Atari game. And a good review. Man, I'd really love to try this one.

  • Great Review as always

  • Thank you for reviewing my all time favorite Atari game! After you do Pitfall do Frostbite! :)

  • Hell yes I love this game great review Aqualung.

  • Good stuff. That game looks like fun, thanks for giving it new life by reviewing it, because I don't think anyone would have ever gotten around to this one.

  • Great review, man. Back in the day, this was one of my faves. I loved it. This and Pitfall II! Can't wait for the Pitfall review... hope you do the sequel too. :)

  • Great review.
