i read on the Em Brand website that a whip can break bones. how is this possible in the case that only the fall or the popper makes contact with a limb? i didnt know that a thin piece of leather or a piece of string could do that. i can see it cutting flesh but breaking bones?!! O.O

Your most probably not old enough but before the advent of cans and stubbies as beer containers beer was sold in a long neck bottle which was made of thick glass. I have seen these broken with a whip. If you think about it the tip of a whip when it cracks is breaking the sound barrier. At sea level that is 1,116.4 ft/s .
@bernie46 A bullet fired from a 45 caliber pistol travels at 800 to 1100ft/s depending on the load and length of the barrel. That is slower than the speed the tip of a whip is travelling. It wouldn't be advisable to stand in front of a 45 bullet because it will do more than just break bones just as would a whip in expert hands.
@bernie46 but even still, hate to be arguing here but, this is a piece of string, im pretty sure that a hunk of metal will do more damage, but like u said it would take a true expert to break bones with a whip. im a "prove it" kinda guy but i guess ill have to take your word for it seeing as i dont think anyone would hold out their arm and let Adam have a crack at it hehe :) truly sorry if im bugging u
@Ir0nF1st924 regarding your asking how a whip could actually break bones, i've actually gotten hit in the face with a whip crack, and i was fortunate, the cracked went across the left side of my face and the middle of my foreheard, it went over my eye but did not hit my eye, and i'm sure that when this happened it cracked something in my face because it really has never stopped being tender in that area, and it has been a long time since that happened, plus the crack that hit me was not a true 1
