  • i still like paul gilbert more :/

  • That was amazing

  • the part where hes strummng the chords is soo groovy

  • Nice, progressive.

I recommend checking his band out, as well as Carcariass.

    Kings of progressive music.

  • what planet is this guy from?

  • It dosen't matter about color is all about practice and talent

  • They say metal is nothing but fucking the E string over and over again, I link this to them, they shut up, grow a beard and go underground.

  • muther of F

  • I'm lost for words at how amazing this song sounds.

  • 2:48 AH, I CAME!!

  • I enjoy seeing extended range instruments being used musically. There is a current trend of mediocre musicians who think the lower the note they can chug to simple double bass accented rhythms is acceptable replacement to riffing. Educate yourself, and learn the importance of melody. Chugging cannot replace musical melody.

  • I have no idea what just happened but....it twas godly.

  • This song has groove as fuck.

  • @MrFISTFULLOFFUCK nah man, hendrix doesnt even come CLOSE to this dude! :-D

  • @MrBeastamonium871 That's like saying Buddy Rich doesn't come close to Navene. I mean, you can't compare the classics to the new generation. They're both revolutionary.

  • hes like a reincarnated Hendrix, except he plays djent!

  • @MrFISTFULLOFFUCK djent, i dont know what its happening, this is jazz, this is metal , this is progressive , but djent ? i dont think so , maybe circles, periphery, bulb but i insist that tosin abasi , animals as leaders isnt djent !!!! its just my opinion

  • @ratiktica Weeeeelll. Well. In my opinion the low-end tones are djent enough.

  • That was pretty rad...not gonna lie.

  • Tosin has it all, unique playing style and influences, genre versatility, and fashion along with stage presence

  • The way I think of it is: the axe-fx can only use and process the frequencies your pups provide. Emgs are very evenly voiced. You get well balanced frequency from all ranges. So they do matter. Right?

  • jazzy

  • tosin you are crazy awesome

  • I can watch this over and over and still be amazed.

  • face melting

  • This has absoultly no groove..

  • @SMWhit3out I don't know about that, I'm groovin' pretty hard to this right now.

  • @JayseWeaver He's just being closed minded. I know for a fact this has A LOT of feel.

  • @MusicfromtheDave Indeed. And people tend to use the "no feel" bomb whenever they can't find anything else to pick on.

  • @SMWhit3out False. You have absolutely no taste. You also, most likely, have no knowledge of odd time signatures.

  • @ibanezman hahaha, assuming assuming. "Taste" in music is such a joke man, you sound like a complete hipster tool. (I like the color blue, do I have no taste in colors?)

  • @SMWhit3out The real joke is you stating that this "has no groove" as though it were fact. That's complete ignorance. The musical style may not be your cup of tea, which is fine and understandable. However, coming on here like a self-important, stupid ass piece of shit, like you are, and saying this "has no groove" is the tasteless aspect of your remark I was referring. Go fuck yourself.

  • @ibanezman You suck.

  • @EliPorterMahn Who asked you ?

  • @ibanezman You did exactly the same thing lol

  • @snupcho Oh really ? Explain.

  • @ibanezman You sound like a self-important, stupid ass piece of shit trying to convince someone that this track is the shit. He doesn't feel the groove, you claim there is such. Both are just opinions, while you sound like you you are "the man who knows the fact" that this here is the grooviest shit. What makes you so sure that this track is good actually? Just because you like it? Because he's so technical? Because it has odd time signatures? None of these guarantees that a track would be good.

  • @snupcho Haha, what a fucking douchebag. I never praised this track, ever. Read my comment if you even possess the ability. I personally think it's stupid when people ridicule other people for their musical taste. That's like calling someone an idiot for their taste in food. I literally state that if he doesn't like it, that's fine. If he doesn't feel the groove, that's fine too, odd time signatures are hard to grasp. He stated that it "absolutely" did not have a groove.

  • @ibanezman I don't think that this is the "grooviest shit". Nothing makes this track good except for personal opinion and I'm not ignorant enough to think that technical ability and odd time signatures or even that fact that I like it is enough to make it "good". I simply stated that his comment was stated as fact, when it's clearly not. So go fuck yourself before making asinine conclusions about what others say. It's not their fault you can't read and reason. You're a stupid cunt.

  • @ibanezman Haha being badass in an youtube comment is so entertaining. My point was that you disliked the way he said "this has no groove" like he's stating a fact in a self-important way, but then you replied to him in the same manner, telling him to fuck himself and judging around. I read carefully what you wrote and stating that if someone doesn't feel the groove in this is "complete ignorance" is the problem. And odd time signatures in this track are not difficult to grasp at all.

  • Does he angle the pick the opposite way?

  • @nzSkitzo So it seems.

  • if you listen carefully at 2:50 when does the sweep and tapping part, thats god's alarm clock ringtone.

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder if you remove the metal drums and add jazz drums, wouldnt this be all like jazz? Im little curious I dont listen to jazz much but some off I've heard seems relax and melodic.

  • @vincentXXX666 Actually yes. Jazz and progressive metal share a lot of Chromaticism, or the ability to deviate from a diatonic organization. Check out some of Emil Werstlers lessons on how he incorporates Chromaticism and it'll help out a lot.

  • @PRSguy94 thanks man, nice reply

  • @vincentXXX666 No problem!

  • dressed like that, if it were not for the 8 string i'd guess he is the messiah of blues... beyond hearing distance of course.

  • Tosin Abasi is rly great... But when it comes to gear... Take a look at the box with a green display behind Tosin. That's Axe-Fx Ultra. Try searching YouTube for the examples of it's work. When you have this, it doesn't matter which model of hi-end pickups you're using.

  • @TonyThrash94 You actually do.........

  • @TonyThrash94 that literally could not be any more false. Just because you have an axefx does not mean qualities of the pickups are suddenly null and void. Its an incredible unit but to the ear you can definitely hear the difference in which pickups you use on your guitars

  • @FALLENxxSKAT3R I didn't say that 808xes are bad, It was all about high quality pickups. But the Axe-Fx can make different pickups sound much alike.

  • @TonyThrash94 So true man. The Axe-Fx could seriously make a Squier Strat sound this amazing. I gotta get my hands on one of those somehow.

  • This guy is fucking insane

  • Is that an Axe FX x_x

  • I really expected him to be Asian...

  • @Heylee1219 Blacks have Rhythm, Asians have dedication/work ethic. Get your stereotypes straight!

  • Eh

  • Tosin is the only reason for me getting into 8 string guitars and why I'm saving for an RG2228

  • I wish I was him!

  • 2:50, nuff said.

  • true prodigy.

  • That intro is so -in-your-face

  • I know who the owner of the pick of destiny is...

  • @TheFunkInfection Shawn Lane

  • 2:50 tapping from another world

  • @Clawfish94 hes tapping the arpeggio with the right hand while mimicking the same arpeggio an octave down with the left hand, pretty sweet lol.

  • Fuck the emgs let's talk about that Axe Fx Ultra he's got there.

  • Some people say 8 strings arent guitars, and people who play them are stupid. I believe they are amazing sounding instruments, and Tosin Abasi can kick your ass at playing a 6 string.

  • no comment on all the camera jerks and cuts?...

  • mother of god....

  • super prog

  • 3:08 Unreal harmony

  • @dahmer09 its just math bro!! add !

  • fucking time signatures. I don't understand this fucking genre. I can't comprehend. uguuuuuuu I love it so much though.

  • I love this guy. There are a lot of bands with 8strings out there, but they seldom use the high notes. This guy uses the full range all the time. nice!

  • "As seen on music" even music can't classify itself as the latter because it would involve a paradox that would open up riffs in time. This children is what is known as the tosin paradigm.

  • lvl:

    -novice

    -intermediate

    -advanced

    -asian

    -tosin abasi

  • @1992Cerberus Seen that comment over 9000 times before on the internet. Not funny.

  • 42 people are Asking Alexandria fans

  • Anyone "disliking" is racist.

  • i bet he sold his souls to satan, this is fucking impossible

  • WOW! :O

  • @EMGpickupsTV Tosin what are your most favorite 8 string pickups?

  • didn't even notice he was black till the end.

  • G3 him haha please !!!!

  • a genius!

  • Fuck someone STOP HIM XD lol UR SO FUCKING GOOD YOU'rE NOT HUMAN TOSIN ABASI!!

  • Somebody Fus Ro Dah:d him at the ending, and he was only happy to embrace it

  • Nurr mine

  • What pick ups are those?

  • @tjflacid Not sure if trolling cause it says in the description but they're EMG 808x's

  • @tjflacid They are the 808X

  • 1:15 the best riff ever made!\m/

  • Love this, but that distorted tone is so bad. :( Clean sounds great tho.

  • @godsizedhole Distorted tone is pretty awesome, great eq across entire guitar.

  • is this what djent is?

cause i remember seeing it mention in aguitarwolrd issue with that misha mansoor(i think thats right)guy

    this guy is truly awesome

  • @HankHillshred djents as far as finger placement goes is really just a root, fourth, octave, and octave of that fourth. theres other variations and the different tunings make the formula different but its not really a new technique. its just like a stacked power chord kinda like what korn does in "got the life". they just call it djent because thats the sound it makes

  • @nickfromdtown1992 shoulda just said "meshuggah"

  • @misterjingles666 yeah but korn (even though i dont like them) is the first people i ever heard do that (i know its older than them) so they were just the first that popped in my head. meshuggah is sick though

  • @nickfromdtown1992 don't you mean root, fifth, octave then octave of fifth? a power chord has the root and the fifth........

  • @aldricsuan were probably talking about the exact same thing and just described it differently so yes thats what i mean :P

  • This shit is awesome! :D

  • Camera forgets to zoom in @ 2:40

  • unbeliveable that i never heard something about such an amazing person :O

  • @DanMasLynn Mind=Blown

  • holy shit.

    that was amazing.

    he is awesome.

  • I believe you meant "Ladies and DJENTlemen.

  • my top 3 AaL songs:

    - Song of Solomon

    - On Impulse

    - Wave of Babies

  • Jazz influenced by Metal

    or

    Metal influenced by Jazz

  • @DanMasLynn

I'd say probably both. dualisms. yanno? two phenomenons existing interchangeably

  • jazz influence

  • he killed it

  • Best guitarist of the galaxy right there

  • reicarnation of robert johnson?

  • Perfect....

  • The main riff of this song is so damn powerful, makes me literally feel good to be alive just listening to it D;

  • hahaha and lil wayne thinks he can play..

  • @93mrjake LOL

  • @93mrjake they are hardly comparable, they use different techniques

  • @aintnopity that's the thing, Wayne cant play! He would be better off slapping his non-existent dick on the guitar.

Tosin stands in a class of his own.

  • have fun restringing that bitch...

  • @93mrjake

If, for some reason, I had to get an 8 string, I'd make sure it wasn't a Floyd Rose. Restringing a 6 string makes me insane enough....

  • Djentleman at hes finest

  • First time hearing of Tosin Abasi. Incredible skill.

  • @Dresenpai

Glad to hear you finally ventured out from underneath your rock!

  • Yeah, umm hmm, hmm, yeahp, I know some of these notes!

  • Tosin has got to be the best guitarist of the 21st century. Hands down.

  • @KDF10580 maybe even best musician

  • @DARKxRIFTmusic Probably. He's classy!

  • @KDF10580 It's 2012 and you're already calling someone the best of this century? Man imagine the weird type of shit guitarists will be able to do in 78 years. Think about how much progress there has been concerning technicality. Tosin is good but not that good. Someone with a lot more soul will take that title.

  • Comment removed

  • @KDF10580 He's Really Good

    but Dan Mongrain is better

and guthrie govan is better too

  • @DiminishedTB Guthrie Govan might be on the same level of technique, you still can´t say that he is better or not.

But Dan Mongrain sux compared to Tosin!

  • quien se atreve a votar en contra csm!!!i liked

  • umm, so ya. I just creamed my pants. dammit!

  • face officially melted off... i think i'm going to go to the hospital now.

  • what a genius

  • that was f'ing HOT! I'm on FIRE!

  • There is more money put into the 2 pieces of equipment on stage in this video than in a normal person's home.

  • I love how he incorporates jazz into his music

  • Wow pretty impressive !! , nice composition , a little shreddy for my taste , my question though ! is Tosin also playing the back-up band (like pat metheny did on his last album , or this is it

    a tape playing ? stupid question I know , I know

  • that was the greatest thing ive ever heard

  • too many fucking people try to get comment likes today

  • future...music....now

  • the sh*t!!!

  • i saw this baked and i couldnt comprehend if this was human or not

  • why the hell is my seat wet...?

  • wow,very inspiring,love it:-)

  • 39 people are pissed that he makes this look easy :)

  • this sounds some much like all new materials by periphery

  • @BrennanTheNightHawk I think they worked together on the album :)

  • Makes me want to put my guitar under the bed today but I won't...I guess it's only a matter of time till a 9 string slayer comes along...what an inspiration to music field of dreamz...!

  • Esses comerciais antes dos videos... ai ai... daqui a pouco o facebook lança um ''youtube'' sem propaganda e a google perde mais uma... -.-'

  • @ButTheseGoToEleven lmfao this deserves top comment xD

  • is he using a looper? @EMGpickupsTV

  • @josimonkeyman he's playing over the track itself, I'd assume.

  • @josimonkeyman something like that, its called boomerang, check out the video with him backstage doing an interview, he explains it there.

  • fuck cell , this is perfection

  • DO NOT WATCH IN 1080p! I just did and now there's brains and bits of skull all over my computer.

  • sit and stare...just sit..stare..and enjoy the eargasm combined with eyegasm at one and the same time...

<3 Even this isn't good enough to describe my current satisfaction~

  • I'm not a fan of Animals As Leaders. Their music is great, but instrumentals just bore me after awhile.

But I still wish I could be at least somewhat near as good as this guy ._.

  • @jeleopard youve gotta be in the mood for it man :)

  • @MrSharpenis

    Exactly! That's great phrasing.

I might actually go see 'em live soon. They're opening for Between the Buried and Me! :O

  • @jeleopard have fun man ^^

  • Like + Fav ;)

  • Is there a DVD of this?

I like this so much I'm buyin the audio cd to play through the big-rig stereo and pipe this video into the 40" led tv for full effect, should be killer.

  • THIS IS SO FUCKING GOOOODDD . He's absolutly amazing guitarist and man ... he is so talented

  • this guy is god, and yeah theres a female on youtube who can made his songs look easy by her covers. shit. guys were screwed.

  • Tosin plays so effortless with his laid-back style!!

Damn is he fuckin good, I don't want to stop watching this.

  • Every night before I go to sleep I close my eyes turn on some brilliant music created by Animals As Leaders and open up my pineal gland.

  • he is better than any asian

  • im actually trying to learn this lol. so this was a big help to watch

  • I cant even imagine what this guy hears in his head. He's like an orgy of allan holdsworth gone metal.

  • seriously...he played it perfectly. Tosin Abasi is not of this planet.
