This sounded more like a case of a lawyer thinking "two murderous kids with no money, so lets go after Oliver Stone instead since he's rich".

Just like "Clockwork Orange", NBK is told from the POV of the killers, who of course see themselves in idealized and "heroic" terms. Its a good argument for keeping a film like NBK away from teenagers until they reach an age of enough maturity to understand the film's artistic irony, but "banning" these sort of films is ridiculous and wrong.
