Very cool old Economy. People should not begin thinking that they can just run out buy one of these 100 year old engines and expect it to run forever without a bit of attention. These are not the brain dead, trouble free EPA approved engines you get today. They take some understanding, and a mechanical background to keep them going. You can still get parts for these, but not from Home Depot.
@gravedigr12 and yes im aware the one above is an old gasoline hit and miss engine but i figured id ask because you seem to know your stuff about vintage old engines
these engines will start alot easier if u learn how. you dont have to keep the flywheels rolling like u did. just look up how people start these. and u will find some videos!!! hope this helps
My great Grandpa had one of those on his farm in Egypt , he used to use it till the 50s , then he upgraded to lister , we still have it , and it still runs , but it was fairbanks , i think the one we have is the only left miss and hit engine in all of Egypt
Does anybody makes these new today. I want something for an off the grid wilderness lodge. Made in China engines may not last long enough for me to pass on to my children, and their children and so on.
@Hetman1974 Is your question for real? This engine was sold by Sears Robuck via mail order back in the early 1900s. This engine is for real a piece of History. Talk about Fu-kin China That country is why the USA and the rest of the world is going to hell with the economy. My engine was built in Michigan State USA. China will never reproduce an engine like this a hit & miss style. The estimated value of my engine is $3500-$5000. If you are looking to spend that kind of money I could find you one.
@WildfireCycleRepair I couldnt agree more. All the greedy selfish people who want stuff for nothing are fkng up every other countries economy by buying crap from China. And what are the Chinese doing with all the money,Spending it on a Nuclear stockpile...
@Hetman1974 question i think is for real, what you need is a British Lister CS, built late 1920s to 1985 ish or a Indian clone. ( Google Listeroid) new parts for the Lister will fit from the Indian clone (except 3 HP) 5 ,6.and 8HP are single cylinder the 10,12 and 16HP twins are like hens teeth to find, all will run wast veg/motor oil
@Hetman1974 Fairbanks Morse still makes stationary engines of this quality. They are about $14,000 if i remember right. They also took them off the website and you would have to contact them directly. They are still used to this day for pumping natural gas
@Jason1Pa Hi, I give you credit for noticeing that. The engine was running prior to me filming and was coasting to a stop. At the time the magneto was not working well and I ran the engine before I started filming.Just to make sure it would start again. The start of the vid caught the engine coasting to a hault. Thank You For Your Comment.
I am the one that neighbors have to put up with. I have great people that live around me and they like to see a piece of History alive and well. I love to explain to them what this engine is. Most people have no idea. Thank You for your comment dadigitechman.
Hi, I know of around a dozen shows in Wisconson that have antique gas & steam engines. The next show I will attend is in Plainfield WI 6-2010. Sussex WI has a show last week in September I think. This engine was showed at Richfield Thresheree 9-19 to 20-2009. Mail for more info. Thank You. Baraboo is the largest in the state. Thats where I found this Engine.
I have no idea what make saw rig it is. If you could help that would be great. Not sure how to tell what it is. I will post another video soon and show a close up of the saw. Thank you for your comment.

@WildfireCycleRepair He asked where you could buy one, not for a rant on Sino-American relations.
