WASHINGTON The nation's unemployment rate jumped to 8.5 percent in March, the highest since late 1983, as a wide swath of employers eliminated 663,000 jobs. It's fresh evidence of the toll the recession has inflicted on America's workers, and economists say there's no relief in sight.
MORE EVIDENCE THAT GEORGE W. BUSH WAS THE WORST PRESIDENT SINCE JIMMY CARTER.
From the passage of the 2003 tax cuts until the election of the Democratic Congress, Bush's record was the most jobs created and most consecutive months of positive job growth. The economy only turned once Democrats vowed to raise taxes and persecute successful individuals and businesses. The steep decline in the stock market began once it became clear that Barak Obama would become the nominee and likely the president. The stock market knew full well that Obama would be a burden on job creation.
your about 3 % over on that estimate. currently unemployment is about 7% and all this means is that people are filing for unemployment. And many of them aren't even legal US citizens. Carter is the reason we even have the misery index. Misery index under carter 21.9 % Misery index under Bush 8 %
"W" However did NOT have 18 months before 9/11 and the invasion of Afghanistan of which time most of our major equipment and troops were alreaddy in the middle east. You cant just start the manufacturing line in full blown production from the start. It takes MONTHS upon MONTHS to requisition, organizie, start production, develop manufacture, stockpile organize again, ship overseas, Organize again, reallocate, ship to distribution centers, reallocate, and outfit an entire army.
"It was "W" who sent the troops over without enough body armor OR armor for their Humvees." And who's fault was it that the trrops didn't have body armour or armor plating for their vehicles? Din Ding thats right, CLINTON. It was Clinton who grossly underfunded the millitary cutting Practically all their funding needed for body armour, armour plating, research and development, maintenance, and outfitting. Rule #1 of warfare. You go to war with the army you have!
Take a look back at the Jimmy Carter years. This "economic recession" were in now still isn't as bad as Carters years Highest unemployment rate under Bush 7.2 % highest unemployment rate under Jimmy Carter 14.76 %. Higest inflation under Bush 5.6% Go ahead and belive the lies told by the Liberal news media but history proves that this is NOT the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. That honor belongs to democrat Jimmy Carter!
I remember listening to a history professor talk about Nixon and Reagan. He suggested that 50 years from now, Nixon would be remembered with much more charity than the present day (this was back 15 years ago), and that Reagan would be a "so-so" president. For my money, the flat out worst president of the past 50 years was Carter. No contest, no question. Carter was a one-man cretin festival.
@monarch243 That depends on who is writing our childrens school books in the decades to come. When emotion wears away, facts can be talked about again. Reagan was hated nearly as much as Bush in his day.
Bill Clinton presided over the longest economic expansion in the history of the USA (that's over 200 years) and he did it while paying off the Natl Debt at a rate of 300 BILLION DOLLARS a year.
"W" decided to turn the biggest Federal surpluses into the biggest deficits and took the Natl Debt from 6 to 10 TRILLION in 8 years.
Reagan built his era's prosperity off of a gigantic federal credit card.
Clinton also led the LARGEST cut in defense spending the country has ever seen. Cutting everything from body armor for troops to armor plating for vehicles as well as equipment for police and fire departments while also reducing major funding needed to combat crime. Expans my ass.
lets also not forget the fact that he LIED under oath about getting a blow job from a secretary. If he lied about something as stupid and trivial as that what else did he lie about when in office?
Also I'd like to correct something America is not now the 14th wealthiest country in the world but the 16th. All of those figures I gave you are historic lows btw.
On January 20, 1981, Reagan took office. Only 69 days later he was shot by a would-be assassin, but quickly recovered and returned to duty. His grace and wit during the dangerous incident caused his popularity to soar.
Ronald Reagan won the Republican Presidential nomination in 1980 and chose as his running mate former Texas Congressman and United Nations Ambassador George Bush. Voters troubled by inflation and by the yearlong confinement of Americans in Iran swept the Republican ticket into office. Reagan won 489 electoral votes to 49 for President Jimmy Carter.

Yes and after 3 decades of conservatism America isn't only more despised than it has ever been. But no time in the last century did so many people outside of America have more wealth, health and education than America. When was the last time America was 14th in GDP per capita? Or when did 700 million people live longer? When were up to 500 million people wealthier? When was the difference in unemployment between America and the EU 1.3% and shrinking? So how bout that 10 trillion dollar debt Ron?
History central dot com = Reagan would be named "the great communicator." He oversaw the largest peacetime increase in defense spending, as well as the largest single tax cut in American history. His conservative view would set new norms for a President.
Reagan "displayed foresight and determination to meet our proposals halfway and change our relations for the better, stop the nuclear race, start scrapping nuclear weapons, and arrange normal relations between our countries, " Gorbachev said, according to the Interfax news agency.
It is amazing that with the Internet and all the video available to people today how anyone telling these lies about Reagan hope that anyone will believe them. I mean look at billary Clinton who stated, "we hit the tarmac running sniper fire blazing over head".. LOL thank God she had both her Amazon bullet bracelets on as well as captain Americas shield! Brother the depth these people won't sink too to try and recruit new blood to their hate festivals
said former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl. "We Germans have a lot to thank Ronald Reagan for." Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher -- a fellow conservative and Reagan's closest foreign ally -- called him "a truly great American hero," and French President Jacques Chirac said Reagan "will leave a profound mark on history." His onetime nemesis, former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, said he took the news of Reagan's death "very hard."
Bush proclaimed Friday a national day of mourning and instructed that flags on federal buildings be flown at half-staff for 30 days. The federal government will be closed Friday in honor of the former president, the White House announced Sunday. European leaders, too, paid tribute to Reagan. "His determined support for freedom contributed decisively to overcoming the division of Europe and of Germany,"
At the life-sized statue of Reagan in Dixon, Ill., where the future president was known as "Dutch" while growing up, admirers left more flags, flowers and jelly beans. At D-Day ceremonies in Normandy, Bush included a special remembrance for Reagan: "He was a courageous leader himself and a gallant leader in the cause of freedom, and today we honor the memory of Ronald Reagan."
Evert Gerritsen, a 60-year-old Simi Valley salesman, recalled the Iran- Contra scandal -- the arms-for-hostages scheme that threatened Reagan's presidency -- but said Reagan overcame his shortcomings and left a proud legacy from his two terms. "I think history will judge him very generously," said Gerritsen. "The crown of his presidency was the termination of the Cold War era. We should all be grateful to him, no matter our political affiliation."
@ sfgate dot com - Young and old spoke of the former president's character, style and substance, of his optimism and his boy-next-door good looks. "He was always fighting against communism, trying to bring new governments to those countries behind the Iron Curtain," said Erin Foye, a 21- year-old college student who came to the Reagan library.
I can Appreciate his efforts for a fitting tribute, but Limbaugh is still a lunatic only taken sereously by rednecks people who hate for no reason, and Pill poppers.
hey guess what if Reagan was running today Conservative morons would oppose him on giving amnesty, negotiations with Soviets, and also pulling out of Lebanon. Most people with Ph.D's vote Democrat and most cited living public intellectuals are liberals while Reps are a bunch ignorant rednecks and are seeing there base decline hahaha!
Socrates - but he has been dead a while lets turn to liberal icons for great quotes...I know here is one ""How dare you! I did not have sex with that woman..what?..Oh my seaman...I am so sorry America...please forgive me" LOL
The very person of this video spent his life in pursuit of service to others, I think all in all he would say that's a pretty good way for anyone to spend it.
would be a wonderful breath of fresh air compared to the normal "suc* my C**k you conservative blah blah hate speech. I can back up my point with proof.
have you not read and on this site as with many others the vulgar venom that a loud few make towards anyone posting anything remotely on the positive side? Things like "I don't agree with someone's policies"...
Secondly, hate-filled speech may go beyond simply altering an individual's thoughts and may in fact lead to crimes of death and destruction arising from the exposure to such ideas. This Comment will attempt to illustrate the need for increased regulation of hate speech on the Internet by examining three facets of this debate. It will first examine existing First Amendment precedent dealing with freedom of expression issues generally.
The danger of free speech in cyberspace crossing over to become language that perpetuates hatred and provokes violence is a very real threat. This threat manifests itself in two primary forms. First, young Internet users who may be easily influenced are exposed to hate-filled ideals and values, often without any regulation or guidance.
I urge everyone seeing someone posting hate speech to Google department of homeland security and list who stated the hate speech along with which video it was posted. There is an anti-american boiler room operation which can been seen if you researched enough of the Reagan posting pages. Free speech great, filthy hate speech report it, its a crime
As the national security of the United States has become increasingly important in recent months, the debate regarding the censorship of hate speech has again arisen. While many individuals remain wary of infringing upon First Amendment rights through the regulation of hate speech in cyberspace, some suggest that the expansive and pervasive nature of the Internet calls for such regulation.
Reagan can make you laugh while poking innocent fun at you. Liberals wish their opponents were dead. If you want to know the difference between conservatives and democrats there it is.
I love it, Reagan's little american followers are like Russia's Stalin lovers today,
Reagan's policies resulted in knowingly creating terrorist groups in cental america
google pirates and emperors
which can be attributed to killing raping and generally destroying the society, jesuit priests and nuns had to band together to fight off contras, who were barbaric terrorists
I love how compassionate and open minded liberals are (or think they are). John's comment is another fine example of their compassion, tolerance and acceptance of all.
In the Iran-Contra Affair, several administration staffers were convicted of crimes ranging from lying to Congress to conspiracy to defraud the U.S. The scandal involved the administration selling arms to the radical Islamic regime in Iran and using proceeds from the sales to illegally fund the Contras, a guerrilla/terrorist group in Nicaragua.

JPII, Margaret Thatcher, Vaclav Havel, Soviet dissidents, all had a hand in standing up to the beast of communism.
