  • Mush, Mush..!

I had a GSP as a kid back in the 70's-early 80's; and like your girl, he could run forever.

These dogs love nothing better than to run all day; and many a time "Rocky" pulled my bike (or sled in winter.)

Anyway, thanks for posting this. (The sight of those flapping ears sure brought back some memories, and a big lump in my throat.)

  • How did you train the left/right commands? I have a GSP as a marathon training partner. But I would like to start bikejoring with her soon. The left/right command seems KEY.

Great video, btw. And great team! Thanks

  • that is one happy gsp! cool video!

  • Most women would be too chicken to pull something like this.

    You got balls, lady.

  • sweeeeet, yea, i just tried this the other day wit my year old pit mix, we haulled ass through the woods, and for a derpy pitmix that still has balls, he actually listened, kinda, eh, practice makes perfect, ima have to get him a harness like that so he stops chokin himself and trippin over his rope, there should be like dogbike races, it was fun for me and him, he got to have a ball, and i just sat down and enjoyed the ride :)

  • The rabbit dog is awesome, and Leah is FAST! I just started scootering with my GSP using a Diggler DSK. The "gangline gizmo" they sell to keep the gangline out of the wheel is great - absolutely no accidents/issues using it. I think the rabbit dog really makes a huge difference. Nice video!!

  • I love ur dogs. :) I do this all the time with my border collie.

  • Wow! Your dog can go! Nice to have that rabbit dog along too.

  • Thats really cool! My GSP pup will learn this when he is older :)

  • These dogs can run forever!!!

  • Haha! That's brilliant! And to succesfully teach a Pointer left and right is fab! I have an English Pointer who is attached with a gizmo to the side of my bike. The idea is he runs WITH me, but he does the Husky impression and PULLS really well! I'm trying to find an outlet for a good harness for him - most of the ones on the market are anti-pulling which defeats the object really! Enjoy the ride!!

  • I just got my GSP/Black lab mix today and I'm planning on teaching her to do this. My Golden will help the most though lol. Cute dog and LOL You're going so fast XD

    Roller coaster!

P.S. Never...ever attempt on Ice....last year was so fail. LOL

  • That is brilliant. I'm getting my GSP pup in a few weeks and I'm gonna try it.. When do you start training them? Is it better to wait till they are full grown? But perhaps start teaching them voice commands as a pup?

  • With GSP's you must wait until at least 14 months before you start them pulling weights, preferably 18-20 months. Teach commands ASAP, and also make yourself an adjustable bikejoring harness to get the dog used to it. I recommend teaching the commands left, right (or your own choice of words, I don't bother with the proper fancy ones lol), woah (as in slow down but dont stop), stop and speed up (best command for this is a "hack! hack!" noise IMO as it's short and easy for the dog to understand)

  • Thanks for the info. I shall start teaching the commands now.

  • my gsp does the same to me.... he flies!

  • awesome run!

  • Holy cow look at her go! I'd love to have her as a partner for my husky! Good run!

  • bloody hell.

  • Love those GSPs! I also scooter with GSPs Check out my clips by searching "mycijor"

  • everybody talks about how much energy GSPs have but nobody ever really talks about how rediculously powerful they are. my brother hooks up one of those weight sleds to his dogs and they dragged up too 300 pounds around the yard. he uses them for deer hunting so hes gotta be real strong. but still its crazy

  • holy - how do you keep the gangline clear of the front wheel - my GSP - Lupo - loves to pull too but the ride would be improved if I could keep the gangline clear of the front wheel

  • If the dog is running ahead and you keep the bike in check, the line should remain taut through the run. you could also look at getting a Bay-O-net attachment for the bike.

  • Bloody hell! That other dog is freakin quick too!

  • Holy your dog can fly!

  • awesome stuff, you can see why they starting breeding alaskans to GSP...makes an incredible sled dog. This dog is awesome---

  • Love the GSP. They are fast but check the endurance. Work till dead.

  • thats a class dog, ur a lucky lady!!;):)

  • lol shes a fast dog hey maybe we can talk i have two gsp's too! by the way shes adorable

  • Awesome - Leah's awesome!

  • I'm starting to do this with my golden retriever how do you attach the lead to the bike is there an attachment you can buy?

  • This video just has the lead tied to the bike as low down to the wheel as you can get it wihout it getting caught. Ideally there are attachments you can get which protect over the wheel to stop tangles and accidents.

I now have a scooter specially designed for attaching dogs as im now running more than 1 dog. It has a brushbow over the wheel and dogs connect via caribiner and bungie.

  • @SparklingStar123 my black lab pulled me for two years, she had massive shoulders and I'm still the only one that can walk her. i just held the lead with one hand, bars in the other, never thought about an attachment...

  • great dog! props to the owner

  • That is a good way to spend all their extra energy. I'm going to have to try that!

  • Nice run...she takes her commands well and sure enjoys it.

What harness are you using? I'm hoping to run my Dobe when she grows up, what age did you start Leah?

    Regards

  • Shes wearing a nordkyn x-back harness. She started at the age of 2-3 with me on foot. Have fun with your dobe!! :)

  • Didn't she do well! I fancied a GSP to be a bikejor partner for my siberian husky, but I ended up with a babe dalmatian instead :-) Can't wait for her to be old enough to join him!
