I have a klr too and find the seat a bit hard on long trips. Look into something like a Corbin. Also, check at the dealer for highway pegs. I got one for mine and it's nice for long rides to change your position and you can lift yourself up by stretching your legs against the pegs. That's helped me with cramps and sore arse syndrome.
Thanks for the comments...went on a trip to Nakusp this year and the seat wasn't anywhere near as bad...go figure. Highway pegs are on the purchase list, but I spend this summer's improvement budget on a trunk...very useful for the commute...
