They did that in 1990 - that was before the internet became popular. I know Windsor is capable of far more ... there used to be more daily newscasts just a few years ago !
Yep....its okay to read American content (ie : Detroit Free Press, NY Times, etc..) but to WATCH American programming on TV..nooooooooo because the CRTC are a bunch of snobs who only care about their own agenda/bottom line (and their pockets)
They were both in the late 70s - I think they both moved out of Windsor in the early 80s. I think Sue went out west but I'm not sure about David Compton.
Am I the only one to notice that when he said, "...raise your right hand", he raised his left? I know what he was trying to do, but seriously... you're not a mirror, buddy...
You know, that thought has crossed my mind. I dont have an intro or outro for the newscast. But why would they be doing this? I thought CBC still had money back then and wouldn't need to do this... Each station could just make their own.
Don't forget though, there were massive budget cuts to the CBC in 1984, and Midday replaced some noon-hour local news programs on CBC stations across Canada. CBLT, for example, had its own noon-hour show.
Ah yes, that must be it. So there we have it, Weekend news was Province-wide at this time. I guess early signs of the severe budget cuts that were to come. We almost lost our CBC in Windsor when those came in... 93 I think.
Thanks :D
I will check those out.

Jim Wicks looks a bit like Jim Carey.

For you older folks, prior to CBET, Channel 9 Windsor was also known as "CKLW".

This appears to be a CBLT newscast fed to CBET and CBOT.

You may be right. Hopefully we can get someone who knows if Jim Wicks was a CBLT or CBET anchor.

I did a bit of digging and Jim Wicks was indeed with CBLT, from 1985-89. He later was on CKY, so RetroWinnipeg should know of him.

Hmm, that is interesting. There were segments in this newscast ending with ..."CBC News, Windsor"

Probably for the same reason we here in London get "Christie Bezaire, A-Channel News, Windsor" on weekends.

Yes I remember Windsor having the 'Midday' at noon - usually their newscasts had nothing to do with Windsor at all !
