Talk to your recruiter. Check your local area to make sure there is a PSU in your area. Talk to that PSU as well. Cheers-

About how long is a coast guard deployment? And how dangerous are the missions if you don't mind my asking.

Aaron, whats up. It depends on the type of unit you belong to. Ships vary from less than a week to six months. Various LE units (Taclets Ledets etc) have various deployments as well. PSU's the unit in this video can deploy 6-18 months. As far as danger wise...there is always an associated risk. We are not a "frontline" type of unit if thats what you're asking. PSU is not a rate, it's a type of unit.  It's typically only for reservists. If you're joining and are a reservist, Id pick BM if you want to be on the boats, MK if you wanna fix'em, and so on. Good Luck!
