This is sooooooooooo good. After a long hard day, I was just about to head off to bed and came across this vis Mike McKenna......instant spirit lift....I wan't to dance around my apartment, but the dog's tired out right now so I'll just rock out here in my chair.
I still go to see George Oliver when he is in town. And to think I booked him at the local coffeehouse/church basement (Doc's Place in Burlington) in the late 1960s.
I just ordered "Soul Crusade" on Records By Mail. I can't wait to get it. Thank you for posting the song "Love-itis". I can't find it anyplace else! Mandala is great! Out of all the underground bands that I heard of Mandala is my favroite.
@mattlindsay1414 It was recorded by Roy Kenner. I was confused about this myself, because I knew that Olly had recorded two tunes in LA with Mandala, and this was their second hit (Opportunity was first). However, I'd forgotten those thrilling days of yesteryear, when records had a B side
Where is George Oliver these days? Loved the band. I used to see them in Toronto and years later I saw George playing with another band in Peterborough around 1974.
Originally done by the great Harvey Scales for Chess Records. The Mandala actually had the bigger hit by giving it a little harder edge and making it one of their signature songs. Great, great tune done by a great, great Canadian band that was one of the first to gain success south of the border.

Awesome song! The J. Geils band covered this song for their 1975 album "Hotline".

George Olliver is now singing religious music(no shit),and is doing quite well. Has a couple of kids. Try him under the correct spelling of OLLIVER
