  • LISTEN TO THIS WITH RAINY MOOD ITS NICE !

  • We were so very in love, she and I... she needed security in this tempest of a world. I needed love. We were a perfect fit. Fate was not in our favor though, as we were far apart, and saw each other very little. I decided, if I couldn't be there when I was most needed, why should I be with her. She needed someone more reliable. So I left her. My most proud moment, and my single greatest regret.

  • @Rehteal Much respect, My friend, Much respect.

  • @Rehteal u deserve a bunch of likes for this comment, i enjoy this paragraph

  • words cannot express how much I love this anime. the atmosphere it had was amazing. I remember just letting episodes play in the background while I was doing stuff around the house just for the music.

  • We have come to terms

  • Season 2 sucked. It devolved into generic anime.

  • @AntiReviews You can blame Chiaki J. Konaka for that one: despite the show's design origins, he was given full helm for season 2, and his biggest influences are Evangelion and HP Lovecraft, and he has the infamous honor of most shows he directs having nonsensical and disappointing endings. See also Devil Lady, Digimon Tamers, the Hellsing TV anime, Astro Boy...dude just does not know how to end a show.

  • @Sprocketman That's a shame. Evangelion is the last thing that Big O should have taken cues from. Do you think Cartoon Network producing had any effect on that?

  • @AntiReviews As a matter of fact, Konaka's original ending was going to be nonsensical *and* super-depressing, but Cartoon Network was having none of it, so he only got to make it nonsensical. True story, straight from Konaka's mouth.

  • @AntiReviews Season 2? wtf i didn't no this had a 2nd season i thought is was straight 26 episodes.

  • @Redjoker96 Are you kidding? There was like a four year break between seasons! It was a huge deal, as that almost never happens in anime unless there's a manga to adapt from or it's incredibly popular in Japan. No, it was the US that brought it back from the brink.

  • @Sprocketman That is correct. The show was doing a sub-par job in japan so the creator was told that it would be reduced to 13 episodes. He then decided to deliberately end the first season on a permanent cliffhanger in the hopes that the show would be picked up for at least another season. A few years later it showed in the USA. It was more popular in the US than it was in japan. Enough people liked it that Cartoon Network decided to help produce the show in order to have the second season.

  • @gokuxxx88 In retrospect, the cliffhanger at 13 wasn't so bad after all...certainly better than the "WTF just happend" ending in the last episode.

Another one of those anime who were never really that popular in Japan but were well recieved in the west...Cowboy Bebop, Baccano! etc. A shame really.

  • @Gamewitzer Yeah. Most good shows and games don't become extremely popular unless they're 90% action and have straight forward plot that has little to no real depth at all. Don't get me wrong I like action. The problem is that too many other things get buried by it. For me all of the factors of a show or game need to be equally balanced in order for me to truly like it.

  • @gokuxxx88 Most of the stuff nowadays is brainless moe bullshit anyway. In my opinion, the whole anime business peaked in the late nineties...I don't think something like Lain or Cowboy Bebop would perform well these days (in Japan and in general). If there's no extra coat of sugar on it, it just doesn't sell, sad but true.

  • dude The music of Big O is the same as the villains in Batman: Fucking awesome

  • uhh, I know somebody probably thought of this already, but wasn't Smith too young to have lost his memories? Angel too? Was it more in the sense that humanity collectively lost the past, rather than them specifically? Although the barcode children, the picture of Amith and Rosewater, and Angel by the end of the series imply that they had lost their memories as wlel, despite being in their 30's.

  • @hfbrooklyn actually it was both individually an collectively that humanity(even the robots/androids)lost their memories, and being in your 30`s is not too young because amnesia can hit anyone...even little children..

also by the end of the series it was pretty clear that Roger,Angel, and everybody else were actually part of some kind of large rebooting computer simulation....*I`ve always hated how they ended the series that way*!

  • ...and everyday they try their hardest to do just that. The only ones who regret the loss of these memories are the city's elderly.

  • "This place, Paradigm City, is a town of forgetfulness. One day, forty years ago every man, woman and robot here lost all memory of anything which occurred before that day. But humans are adaptable creatures. They make do and go on with life. If they're smart enough to figure out how to operate machinery and get electricity, they can still have something of a civilization, even with no history. People can survive without knowing what did or didn't happen in the past...

  • uploader dude, past a .rar or something to the whole OST.

  • Aaah... After listening this, I need a glass of fine champagne, drinking while staring at the distance to contemplate my life and all its complicated thoughts.

  • ive been looking for this song for years...

  • the main reason why i wrote those two short stories is because music is the most beautiful grand scheme to every single story we think in our head or in real life.

Send me a comment if you like any of my short scenarios :D

  • I just could bear the thought of my love returning to me in a castket by the military. I know that ive made a promise to you saying that i would always stand by your side, that i will wait for you. But when you left a piece of my heart broke... She closed her eyes as a single tear rolled down her cheek. Edward... If you feel any resentment towards me i dont blame you. she packed her things and left leaving behind nothing but a sad welcome to her love- A womens story of a broken heart-

  • Everything i once loved has now left me. the only thing i have left are the scars from my past. He looks up at the night sky and it begin to snow, He reaches into his pocket for a single cigeritte and lights it, and he says in a rough raspy voice and says "Melia... My Sweet Melia where did you go? Was it because I left? You promised me that you would stay if I left and fought I said i would come Back once it was all over. If I wouldn't of left Would you have been still with me? A Mans Story

  • Steven Blum....world's greatest voice-actor there ever was. He did such a perfect job for Roger Smith.

  • Someone, anyone. Please tell where I can download this? It must go in my Ipod with the greatest urgency.

  • We have come to terms.

  • does anyone have a midi version of this song? I'm sorely missing it!

  • oh my god i remember this, i completely forgot about it, as the last time i watched this was liken easily 6 or more years ago, very cool.

  • Damn! Why can't American cartoons be more like this :(

  • @TheOrnageJuice After watching US cartoons and comparing them, your right.

  • @saltyninja01 Of course im right. I've watched things such as Big O when i was younger and comparing them to what todays youth get I feel bad for them in the way that they dont really get to experience feelings such that can only be expressed by watching shows like these.

  • @TheOrnageJuice Cool man I hope to meet more YouTube ppl like you out there :)

  • @saltyninja01 Its always nice to see someone listen while another express themself and for that you have my gratitude.

  • @TheOrnageJuice Yeah, and the sad thing is that the only way that kids nowadays can enjoy these kinds of feelings, is by watching real live shows like CSI and Law & Order, or real live movies.

  • @AGT619 Yes and as a fan of both i can still say that in my own opinion that animated shows are lot better than live action shows souly because it expresses it in the way where you can think about how the protagonist feels (i.e Roger Smith and how he questions himself on who he is) compared to live action where you try to relate it to your own personal life.

  • @saltyninja01 Why can't ALL cartoons be like this.

  • @saltyninja01 Narrowmindedness in our industry

  • @saltyninja01 Big O is Batman: TAS: the anime, America can make cartoons this good. We're just not trying hard enough now.

  • @saltyninja01 But Big O is decidedly American.

  • Cold sex and cigarettes.

  • overwhelming grief and unspeakable love.

  • this is the most amazing theme ever

  • this is the perfect weather to listen to the rain and close your eyes or take a smoke like in those old shows. there's always the option of looking your lover deep in the eyes. you wanna propose, wait til the end, it'll make that moment so perfect....that isn't a bad idea actually.

  • >Houston Street

    >Live in Houston, Texas

    >Fuck yeah Big O

  • @oddmanelf me too I'm going to have this on my ipod when I'm walking down the street.

  • i like to make monologues while i listen to this song

  • "You are one of the top Problem Sleuths in the city."

  • Chill I loved the music to this series it was always classy

  • who is to say what my name is.... not the man.. nor to woman... what is in a name? is it arm or leg? flesh? blood? just another way to register your person... who is to say i am nameless? is it the mother or the father? when we walk down the street the city stain red.. the time after dark... do we stop to ask such things of ppl? what is your name? is it love, hate, black or white is a name would soul? no one can take it away from you... the two are thus alike.. ~the chatter of a 17 year old~
  • Will this be...the very end?/ Tell me dear...did you ev-er love me?/ Bring me back...to the love/ and to the pain that it brings/

I loved you...like no other/ and yet you... turn from me/ break my heart/ it's in your hands/ give me the life...that you took away...from me./ How I loved you

  • @beautifullychaos

The lyrics I wrote go up to 1:25 on this music. It's just what I thought of when I heard the saxaphone

  • well 1:25--....'The falling rain outside my window....will never match the tears from my eyes/ This pain of love that I feel?....ever fade like a shadow from my side/But one thing that I know...My love for you will ne-ver fa-de away'........haha! sing this with your lyrics...a few tweaks I think we may have a hit!!

  • I have this saxophone music sheet. Every time I play this song, I feel very relax and my neighbors just love it. Especially in rainy days.

  • Seven days....it's been seven long days since ive seen day light. Seven days since ive heard a human voice, or any sound at that matter. I use to be a family man, a well respected business man...but now all i am is just an existence, a candle with a dying flame...waiting to be blown out. Life means nothing to me anymore, its useless, just like those people i use to pass on the streets everyday...the beggers. I find it ironic that i am now also a begger...a begger of death. (that fits the music)

  • *in the voice of Morgan Freeman"

People will tell you a million reasons why they carry the burdens they do. They carry them up every flight of stairs and down every avenue. They're always stock answers prepared to explain why they can't take that weight away....not to drive...or eat...or sleep...or love. Roger Smith however, had no answer ...because in all honesty, he could not even remember why he carried around that awful watch in the first place. And not knowing is the heaviest burden of all

  • @ApocGenesis See, now I want a Live action Big O movie now with Morgan Freeman in it thanks to you! XD

  • You know a song like this you would think that you could find music sheets for it. There is no hint of a transcription on this internet that I could find using Bing and Google, which both repeatedly led me to the same transcription sites which all lacked this piece. For the love of all things music, somebody PLEASE get us some sheets for this song!

  • @Traece watch?v=GqFHMeAz8K8

The kid who did a cover of this song put the notes that he used up as annotations in the video. Happy playing!

  • @YeaSon2008 yeah, that i did...

It seems like so long ago that I did that. thankfully my playing has gotten much better since then. I think its time for me to try it again

  • "I look up towards the stars; and I wonder, are we guided by fate...? Or are we controlled by destiny. [deep sigh] Maybe the answer is right in front of me.... Or are we just frantically running in vain to achieve good fortune?.. All i know is i want the stars to guide me and her together through this storm." --- donovan g.

  • like the show, you play this over and over, and it still sounds like the first time you heard it

  • makes me think of two lovers,

    however, one left...

...and now both are empty, alone, and finding nostalgia in their shattered memories.

(ironic for those who have seen the show)

  • This song is so good!!! Makes me think about the nightlife :)

  • I dont know if anyone else has ever had one true love in their love leave them but I picture this song playing after such a thing happens.

  • I remember when i was younger i would watch the show just to hear this tune absolutely beautiful.

  • Can some one send me some names of similar songs like this one?

  • Where's the "outgoing" version of this? The one that's like this, but is more depressing as it's played at the end of each session?

  • "We have choices. Some people like to stand in the rain without an umbrella. That's what it means to live free." - Roger Smith

  • I play Sim City 4 to the Big O soundtrack. I always love when this piece plays. I force night and watch the landscape slowly light up... It's really incredible to watch.

  • "My name's Roger Smith. I perform a much needed job here in The city of Amnesia."

  • the first and last line of the series.

  • Well...

We have to come to terms.

  • I wish I could down load this.

  • @burby8100 be cool and just record it

  • 2conv bitches

  • one word: beautiful. ;_;

  • omg I'm gonna cry...

  • they should have made an episode where Roger stopped holding back about his feelings for Dorothy*her being an android*,and while this song was playing kissed her...that would have been interesting to see..

  • OMG!!!...this is the one I was looking for..THANKX for the upload drunkenmaster226!!!

  • its not just big o, cowboy bebop, wolfs rain, ghost in the shell

the songs they write for anime are better than most mainstream songs.

  • *A cold, harsh rain befalls the city. I find myself huddled over my desk again, I haven't slept in weeks... not since she left. The wine I bought for us that night just sits there, the ice has long since melted. I was going to propose to her... going to. She told me she had other things to tend to. ..."heh" I try to close my eyes...* seems like the kinda music that would play over a monologue like this.

  • Classic noir. Like old detective movies.

  • @Stevetheanimeninja

Wow, I imagined that being said by the voice actor for Max Payne.

  • @CeroSan

    heh thanks

  • @Stevetheanimeninja thats a really good monologue you wrote there. Sounds like a Detective introduction in a story.

  • @Stevetheanimeninja yeah except thats a shit monologue.

  • @Stevetheanimeninja you should be a writer.

  • @burby8100

    i try my best.

  • @Stevetheanimeninja

The soundtrack is inspired by film noir, and that monologe sounded like something a film noir protagonist would say.

  • @Stevetheanimeninja

Hey that was pretty good, Steve! I liked how you wrote that up...you should put that in a story with this theme.

    Hey, how about this:

'There she was...a vision of beauty. Didn't know who she was or what to make of her...but there she was and in she came. Said she had a job that required my expertise...told her it would cost her 80 greenbacks. She pulled her veil down and said, 'Money's not an issue'. Seemed like just another hard case but then again, when was it ever easy?

  • @sabre926

Its good, classic. A hardcore detective scene. I guess when i typed up mine i tried too hard to go with a darner tone.

" 'Heh' I tried to close my eyes... but it seems every time i do, all i can see... is her."

on a side note my name's not really steve.

  • @Stevetheanimeninja

Hey, your idea still worked and I liked the tone that you used for it. You did a great job on your monologue.

  • @Stevetheanimeninja dude you should write stuff like that for a living:)

  • @08sparky08

Heh, i wish. I'd be lucky to get a paperback on the shelves in a gas station somewhere.
