Its a GREAT cover... Close to the original, but definitely their own.... The drum fill into the chorus pays homage to the original Miami Vice show (this song was featured in the 2006 movie). Killer job by a cool group of guys!!

I like this song, don't get me wrong, but ever since the first time I heard it, I felt like the chorus needs to hit harder! The drumming needs to be harder and instead of the guitars just ringing out a single note, they should be strumming it harder. Just my opinion though. No disrespect to Nonpoint, but this is one of those songs that are untouchable. It is a very dark song and Phil Collins was a master in pulling this off- from the creepy synthesizer bits- to the lack of metal on the drums. Nobody will ever sing this like Phil or put the emotion into it as he does because he lived it.

They're just doing their version. Almost every song out there is covered there will be people that say the sound shouldn't be covered.

@stack67 i don't think they randomly re-did this. i would imagine the producer of the movie soundtrack wanted this song re-done, in this style, and their name came up. Maybe even because i think they actually are from Miami, so some ties there.  If you were around when the original series was on TV, this song was huge, and I vaguely remember the episode they played it. It's an all right cover as far as they go, better than someone like Miley Cyrus doing it.

I saw a show with Collins a few years ago where he explained that he basically made the song up in his studio by connecting cool sounds. "start with a rhythm like this, that's nice, [later] put a key and rhythm change here". There really isn't much in the lyrics to attach emotion to... the emotion comes almost entirely from how he sings it. He ended that bit of the show with something you see on art shows, "now go home and write one like this y'self".
