  • Science leads you to killing people? wow, Penicilin is the reason G W Bush started 2 wars? If Darwins theroy of Evolution leads to social darwinism. Does that mean before Darwin, No social "darwinism" existed? What a simplistic view of everything.

  • WHAT? its called "Expelled: No intelligence allowed" ? as in...no human with the least bit of intelligence would ever watch that?

gotta love religious people ...without them my life wouldn't be this much fun

  • Stein clearly has a high IQ and I know he has a prodigious memory. For him to use terminology like "mud hit by lightning," claim science leads to killing people, and call universities bastions of nonsense is absurd, all the more so because he knows better. He is, to put it simply, lying because he is afraid to stop pretending "God" runs the world. Strange and pathetic.

  • Stein, your country is not the world's police. InterPol is. Now go hide in your church about imaginary wars and leave the adults to running the world. In fact, I think letting the adults run the world is a MUCH better idea.

Oh wait, I forgot, there's no such thing as an adult.

  • @7:23 "you shouldn't obey laws if you don't like them"

Fallacy of overgeneralization. Disobeying a law is not to be taken lightly, however that does not mean that law should be obeyed blindly. Has he never heard of civil disobedience?

7:27 "a civilization where there is no rule of law is called anarchy"

But you show a picture of violence, which does not logically follow. Anarchy may be peaceful. It also deceptively infers that "law" may only be enforced by government. This is also false.

  • why does ben stein think that the US is obligated to protect the world, im pretty sure america isn't the only country in the world with a military

  • how the fuck did that guy go to yale, let alone get into any university at all

  • Bueler..... Bueler

  • Ben Stein.... creepy creationist religiously deluded hypocrite.... Hey! Maybe he could be the next Republican president of the (totally in debt because they spent all the money on war) USA.

  • It's rediculous how he keeps saying that people who have accepted Evolution think the we were all "Specs of mud hit by lightining" the funny thing is that's basically what it says in the Bible.

  • Ben Stein is a fucking moron. He thinks he's intelligent because he wears glasses and speaks monotone.

  • Yeah, we would like to be deluded by the supernatural and we the US should attack other countries.

  • What if Ben Stein would just shut the f**k up and stop his fearmongering? And stop advocating for a theocracy. You are an idiot, Ben Stein, not unlike the Israeli Zionists who took over Palestine by force.

  • That science comment, woooooooooow.

  • This man disgusts me.

  • This vid makes me angry!

Not because you are disproving Creationism, but because creationists can be soo stupid!

  • @TheSkibbi100 There's about as much point in disproving creationism as there is disproving that the events of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings never happened. This video is about just a few of the reasons creationists are laughed at -which is funny at the best of times(like these videos) and extremely disturbing the rest of the time. Please don't pollute your mind, adults with imaginary friends are stupid.

  • There's good science and bad science, there's good religion and bad religion. You cannot make a blanket statement about either subject. And its doesn't PROVE anything if you do.

  • This guy shows a chart that says Neanderthals lifespan was 20 years.HOW THE HELL DOES HE KNOW THAT? And he calls other people stupid?

  • @Wanda7771 they can tell through carbon dating and the age and development of the skeleton.

  • @Wanda7771 So he's stupid because he doesn't link the sources to every scientifically verified fact he's using in the video?

  • 1:14 Reality Check: More people have been killed in the name of God then any other reason

  • 4:55 Tshits?

  • yes. I'ts so unthinkable that multiple wars would break out at the same time. Just like it's impossible that the peoples of several arab states would simultaneously start to rebel against their governments! Just impossible.

  • I used to have some respect for stein, because his voice and some of his performances such as the pixies on the Fairly odd parents would make me laugh...This did him in. He no longer garners my attention nor respect.

  • I thought he was smarter than this...I am disappointed.

  • @melchCody LIKE SERIOUSLY, WTF? He had his own fucking game show where he utterly schooled high intellectuals and even destroyed Jesse Ventura in a debate. Yet his history is so fucked up and blinded by his religion. The Nazi's didn't do what they did under the name of SCIENCE! They did it under the name of their fucked up God. Sweet jumping Jeebus his reasoning and logic is fucked up in this area. What the hell is he thinking? I didn't think he was old enough to get alzheimer's but..

  • I was raised christian and i still am but I totally believe in science and this man is just talking bullshit

  • ben stein, what a cunt.

  • Comment removed

  • TRUE examples of christian science:

Rings around saturn are Jesus foreskin. (True fact google it)

Earth is flat. (google Flat Earth map, christians still said earth was flat in the beginning of the 1900´s)

    Creationism.

Christian science is as relevant and as useful as the stuff that comes out of my dogs butt...

  • NO MORE CHEAP TSHITS??!

  • why do people protect a lie (religion) and attack the truth (science) stop believing in a lie.

  • Jews have a pretty good track record of killing people even their own so what would you expect.

  • I took a physics test the other day, I felt like I did okay but THEN I WENT ON A MURDEROUS RAMPAGE

  • @EpicPhalosophy Oh yeah that happens a lot. I was taking biology the other day and suddenly I ripped my teacher's lungs off her body.

  • Where is the cute girl I saw on the video tag???

  • But I like my cheap tshits.

  • This really pissed me off. I'm in the US NAVY and hearing the utter bullshit from him demeaning our great military makes me want to shoot a tomahawk onto his front doorknob

  • I love this guy "lightning striking a mud puddle"... but according to Christianity god is light and energy, and god created adam from dirt... so he's watering it down and calling it science xD

  • @AtlasSniperman But isn't that exactly what the books tell us? Lightning struck a mud puddle and the basic building blocks of life came into being.. And people call that science,,,

  • @warpnin3 exactly. "lightning striking a mud puddle" is his explaination, not science xD

  • 1:14, not sure whether to laugh or punch things.

  • And don't forget all the church leader who forbid their followers to get vaccinated against polio!

And what about the crusades? Boy, the church has so many deaths on its list...

  • I dont see anything to laugh at hes a dangerous vile lying hypocrite who can get on TV

  • I think no intelligence allowed was the rule they put up for making the documentary

  • Hmmm I believe this Stein man does not know a HECK about the crusades does he? Religion was the main reason for killing people... back then, science was obstructed by religion..., religion killed thousands of women because they were of the devil or consorts of the devil. Does he know anything about this??? the killing in the name of god??? I don't think so

  • @fercychan I know several policeman who are corrupt, taking bribes, taking the law into their own hands, you name it. And some of them aren't just low ranking officers either. Does that mean that police in itself is a bad thing? I know about the evil that priest get into and i would n e v e r defend that, but they are doing it in God's name; not with His approval. The church I go to has hundreds of hospitals and is always on the spot when there has been some disaster anywhere in the world

  • @warpnin3 Curiously enough disasters happen when church is around... again CRUSADES!!! because they stop the advance of medicine, because of church's stupid idea of burning books of all kind and saying that autopsies were of the devil THOUSANDS DIED BECAUSE OF THE PLAGUE! Believing in something is not bad, but when u reach church super strict levels it becomes something bad! Don't try to convince me I spend 16 years of my life believing I was catholic but, I'm full-blood pagan...!

  • Stein isn't a moron, Moron is Ben Stein.

  • Did this jackass seriously just suggest that the United States would be the first to react to a Third World War? I'm not pointing out that the US took two years to join in WWII, just that the world will not rely upon America, they would rely upon the UN's collective forces, because it would not be tolerated.

  • this guy dusnt know that america has the second largest millitary in the world and has the most nukes

  • Not surprising that Stein sought an audience for his blathering on the 700 Club and TBN, they're quite receptive to this kind of crap.

  • Does science lead you to killing people? The answer would be yes and no.Science enabled us to have things such as internet, cellphones, cars and modern medicine which saved countless lives. But at the same time it is responsible for invention of cluster bombs, cruise missiles and weapons of mass destruction.

  • How can you be so ignorant as to draw parrallels with the benefits of science in relation to utility services & health breakthroughs etc. You make your spurious statements as if Stein was arguing the 'evils' of such developments. You are a cad & a liar and no more. If you have the courage to try an challenge Stein for yourself instead of grandstanding here on YT then on that point alone you will be made a fool of very quickly. You clearly don't listen.

  • Don't knock Expelled's rating, It scored better than Sarah Palin's movie.

  • Cults are cool yo

  • science does not lead you to killing people. It shows how the world was made. Religian is the why. The why can not show the how, expecilly when it was made for people 1000s of years ago and knew no science.

  • When stein says he does not believe what courts say is "Right" or "Wrong", he is referring to the christian entity that is also known as right and wrong, but only as far as morals go. After all, if Stein really practices what he preaches, he should know that in the bible it says that all authorities were put in this world by god for god and for the people.

  • He used to be smarter than this when he was on Comedy Central. He has turned into a pander bear to sell his bullshit movie to people who really are that dumb.

  • I knew Ben Stein was stupid, but not THAT fucking stupid

  • I had no idea Ben Stein was such a damn moron. He and Victoria Jackson can fall off the face of the earth anytime. What nonsensical crap parading as intellect.

  • Who is the hot blond at 4:55? And what are her politics? And breast size?

  • 4:55 hmmm i'm not so sure i want some cheap Tshits?!

  • Hey Stein is right about science and killing people. If you learn somehow about some people you want to kill them... knowledge is dangerous for some people.

  • I literally spit out my own spit at 1:14 . I'm just glad I wasn't drinking anything at that time.

  • @fallingskyz we're you expecting to spit someone elses spit?

  • @fallingskyz LOL. Religion tells us Kill the infidels, science tells us "there is this atom thingy that can create amazing amounts of energy that can power the civilization". Idiot politician says "Good now make a bomb with that to kill people".

  • 4:55 "no more cheap TSHITS?"

  • You say "anarchy" as if it's a bad thing.

Under the "rule of law", states do sometimes pass bad laws. When that happens, it is the duty of intelligent, free people to resist the state and violate unjust laws. Consider the "Underground Railroad", the "Free French Resistance", the "Viet Cong".

Religious fundamentalist idiots like Ben Stein notwithstanding, I would suggest, Thunderf00t, that you stick to science and be very wary of dabbling in politics.

  • @hulakan Anarchy is a bad thing. It is not the duty of intelligent people to violate laws that they consider unjust. The judicial system is the solution for a group of people who consider a law to violate their rights as supposed by the government. Lobby groups are the solution should the majority of people of a society consider a law to be unjust. And if this needs to happen enough times within the term of a single government, that government will be voted out of power.

  • I bet I could Win Ben Stein's Money.

  • Stein = bat-shit crazy.

  • 3:30 I fucking lost it. I like religion, my parents are buddhist, I don't care when religion picks a bone at science, its fun. However when religion tries politics...

  • I thought that documentary "Expelled" was a joke.

Of course they should dismiss absurd ideas.

  • Science doesn't kill people. people kill people.

  • science leads you to killing people? so on 9/11 those were scientist flying those planes.

  • "Science leads you to killing people"

...and suddenly Ray Comfort is not so dumb.

  • Comment removed

  • Mr. Stein = DR. MENGELE was a christian catholic....

  • You know whats even more dumb.Make a bunch of videos with the same fucking title saying the same damn pointless crap.GAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • The evil philosophical crack that allows all evil, war death and destruction in our world is the lies spread by religion. It is the concept of believing without evidence that allows for all of this, Ben Stein is a fool.

  • @MrPsychedelia101

    "for promoting their beliefs"

Keep your basless stupid wrong belief in church where they belong, we dont come to churches to try and educate you fools.

ID is not science, and will not unless offcourse religious nut cases get their way in the USA and put it back in the dark ages.

  • @MrPsychedelia101 This may be a small truth although you have to admit, believing in a talking snake and a man in the clouds sounds kind of crazy right?

  • Comment removed

  • @IamT3hUser Snake didn't actually "talk", Satan was using it as a ventriloquist dummy.Description of God as a bearded man who sits on heavenly throne and angels with "wings" has a symbolical not literal meaning.Tree's of life and knowledge were just ordinary tree's which God assigned a symbolical meaning.

  • @MrPsychedelia101 there is no suggestion in the Bible that the snake was a guise for Satan, or that Satan was controlling the snake

  • @psychomantiskiller "So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him." - Revelation 12:9

  • @psychomantiskiller Jesus called the Satan “a liar and the father of the lie.” Since snake was first one who lied by telling Eve that she would not die eating the fruit it obvious that Satan was using the Snake.

  • He who laughs last, laughs longest.....

  • Ben Stein infuriates atheistic, evangelical fundamentalists....that's just fine by me.....Wake-up & smell the roses you poor, impoverished, deluded aethists, you're missing the all the fun from your sad, Plato's cave perspective. Free your minds, get a spiritual life & find out what life's really worth....and anyway, if God is such a fantasy, why are you all wasting so much time critising Him, & getting all worked-up In the process?

    Seriously...,you're wrong....Best wishes anyway...

  • @gauranganitai1 Yeah stay in the Matrix, be a battery to religious leaders and other non-value producers, let dictators think for you. Be a sheep in a Nazi army, why think? Why choose reason when you can blank out in the best drug ever.. religious non-sense!

  • @gauranganitai1 actually, more theists would be equatable with Plato's Cave, as they require another supernatural being to show them reality, while those who reject theism utilize their own rationality without reliance on another

  • Why waste all your time and effort to discredit, if Creationist are wrong, the truth is evident without your diatribe... me thinks thou doth protest too much, hmmmm.

  • What a pair of dick-heads.

  • @mixvox1 Its funny cuz you said dickheads :D :D :D torllortllorolol

  • Evolution is science as much as a theory of spontaneous construction of Egyptian pyramids, and citing Rotten Tomatoes is Appeal to Irrelevant Authority, because they were just covering their asses from the wrath of scientific community.

  • I guess 1677 people have been negatively impacted by this reality check vid for some reason. Wonder why logic always pwns religious superstition?

"To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead."- Thomas Paine

If you disliked this vid, please check into a facility that can help you accept facts.

"Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."- Aldous Huxley

  • Usually Jews are not imbeciles like this, I wonder what happened to him to make him that way

  • Sorry, I had to turn it off after he blamed science for the holocaust. Scientists don't go around killing each other because they don't agree on dating techniques, but one can find numerous examples in the Bible, Quran, Torah, and many other religious texts, commanding death for various groups (adulterers, non-believers, apostates, etc.).

To say that religion leads you to a wonderful, peaceful existence with your fellow man is insane. How many wars have been started because of religion??

  • Why is the thumbnail for this video and part 29 random women?

  • Science leads you to killing people? Good word?

Well crap! I guess we better get that goddamn televangelist out of business! All that science in the materials and architecture for his church, the science that treats the running water in his church, the science that lights up his church, the science that provides his electricity, the science that records his shows, the science that plays his worship songs, the science that broadcasts his shows...

are gonna lead him to killing people!

  • AHAHAHHAHA the stats for ben steins movie over catwoman in 2004! I laughed for like ten minutes these videos should be mandatory for Idiots like Ben stein to watch. What is the world coming to with these simple minded fucks dancin round the maypole?

  • 4:52 War with China? No more cheap ''Tshits?'' lol... Tshits? xD Was that a mistake? :p

  • Ben stein is just an arrogant self righteous lying jew but he is just as bad as a lying christian idiot.

  • Science IS evil. Proof: Science allowed Ben Stein to film a bottomlessly bad 'documentary' attacking science and promote it on the internet, instead of screaming about his insane persecution complex on a street corner like a normal crazy.

  • thank you for this playlist, I'm little more than halfway through and I've learned so much and seen so much pwnage.

    really, thanks.

  • you are threat ben stein,as ahmadinedjad

  • Let's face it, both naturalism and Darwinism are based on "assumptions" and "inferences" as to what supposedly happened in the unobserved past. Meaning, that nothing in the Darwinian worldview can ever be verified by the empirical and scientific method. . You would not last two minutes in a public debate on the issue, All of which means that you are not engaged in science, but naturalistic dogma.

"Evolution DID IT" is central to Darwinian dogma,

    This video is unsustainable nonsense!!!!!!!

  • @heiningerjohn The evolution of a particular species might not be replicable, but that's far from saying that the entire theory is unfalsifiable. We can still use evolutionary theory to make predictions, and then see whether or not those predictions bear out. Our second chromosome is an excellent example of that. We have one pair less than other apes. It was predicted that there had to have been a fusion. And there was. ToE could also be falsified using the fossil record.

  • @TheoreticalPixies Evolution is "unfalsifiable" because the data is "subjectively" interpreted to conform to predictions, with "explanations" elastically invented to cover any and every option. Verifiable science is based on the empirical scientific method, Which is why the Nobel Committee does not recognize assumptions and inferences based on "unobserved" past events as the real thing.

  • @TheoreticalPixies I think you need to bring yourself up to date. This supposed 'excellent' example turns out to be full of holes, and sinking fast.

A peer-reviewed paper which appeared in the journal, Cytogenetic and Genome Research in 2009 by Farre, Ponsa and Bosch [Farré, M., M. Ponsà, et al. (2009). "Interstitial telomeric sequences (ITSs) are not located at the exact evolutionary breakpoints in primates." Cytogenet Genome Res. 124(2): 128-131.]

  • @heiningerjohn In what way does that article reject the fusion of the second chromosome? It explicitly states that site 2q13 is in a precise location. The authors explained in the Results and Discussion that the discrepancy was likely due to a difference of technique, and that ITSs were found to flank each side of old breakage points, and were "almost perfect – between 91.8% and 97.1% of perfect matches."

Did you read the paper, or just the summary according to ID proponents?

  • @heiningerjohn

Quote Mining! Creationists are so fucking predictable.

  • @heiningerjohn

how do you explain Plant speciation or AB resistance w/out using evolution theory?

  • @transtlantic

    Oh, that's easy.

    "GOD DID IT!"

...in other words, you don't try.

  • @heiningerjohn

''othing in the Darwinian worldview can ever be verified by the empirical and scientific method.''

FALSE. Your arguments base is WRONG. Try again fucktard.

  • @Primordialfan1 O.K. This is your big moment! Provide us all with evidence that can be tested and verified by the scientific method, establishing that evolution is an established fact, leaving no other alternative option, particularly God. Off you go!

  • @heiningerjohn

For the record Evolution is a ''SCIENTIFIC THEORY''. Gobshite creationists don't even know proper scientific terms.

    Fossil Record, DNA, Genetics.

    TADA!!!!!!!!!!

    Now. Prove ''creationism''

  • because there fucking stupid, and stupid is funny.

  • "Science leads you to killing people" Whatever respect I had for Ben Stein, its gone now. That has to be the most moronic and hypocritical statement I've ever heard in my life.

  • @deltaray3 You mean to say there was a time when you had respect for Ben Stein!?

  • @Tapiola2007 His Clear-eyes commercials were funny. But that's about as good as he gets. :P

  • @Tapiola2007 its probabley mostly for his work in movies. he might be a collosal prick but his bored, droning voice sounds hilarious when put next to your averige comedians higher pitched, quick one (jim carry, the mask).

  • I can't tell you how happy I am that science discovered that taking a bath was good for your health. Medieval people believed that taking a bath caused illness and death, so many people never took a bath in their whole lives. You can imagine what it was like to stand in the middle of a crowded room. These same people believed that sex was dirty, and they believed this because in those days SEX WAS DIRTY. It was disgusting.

  • LOL funniest shit I ever heard about that WW3 thing... we have BY FAR the best air force, BY FAR the best navy, BY FAR the most advanced and best trained army, and the saddest fact of them all... we have BY FAR the most numerous, most powerful, and most efficient numbers of nuclear missiles in the world + Korea has the WORST trained military in the world, literally EVERYONE from new borns to seniors are part of the military, and every last one of their nuclear test has blown up on the launch pad

  • @SturFriedBrains I would say we are tied for having the best Army with Israel. I say this not for religious reasons, but because they have never lost a war since the modern nation was created. And this is coming from someone who is in the US armend forces.

  • @HimesInu But wasn't Israel aided tremendously in their wars by the US and the UK?

  • i just went to see the video that thunderfoot "does not want me to see"....more duchbaggery ,no ratings ...no comments.......PUUUUSIES.they would have a red lightsaber and that would make them cry

  • This Stein guy needs to sort his shit out, what a creepy dude.

  • I think Stein needs clear eyes (...wow) because he's blinded by his own stupidity.

  • Stein is a Religionist, Economist, Jingoist and Lawyer all rolled into one?

Society is really turning out some winners. I like how the Religionists associate Darwinism with the Eugenicist/Economist interpretation of Social Darwinism as the same thing.

We're not going to let these barbarians burn down Alexandria again, are we?

  • Science leads you to killing people? Guess all the victims of crusades, witch hunts, The Inquisition, people burned at stakes for heresy etc etc don't count.

  • @terrabun I've been bringing these subject up in my debates with christains for years .They won't even say the words inquisition or salem witch hunts! Good luck in getting a answer

  • This a ****ing joke? An ass ****ing **** eating piss drinking joke? A massive hairy horse **** sucking joke? An elephant vaginally discharging cyanide onto a basket full of puppies joke?

His god damn ****ty movie made THREE MILLION ( $2,970,848 )? This guys a god damn millionaire?

Yesterday I wanted to kill myself, but decided I had to at least wait untill the holiday weekend was over.

Then I see this guys movie making him millions. **** waiting, Im going to be dead on sunday.

  • @hohohoho578 Don't die yet, plan a most outrageously way out. Or die naturally in 50 years, whichever you prefer.

  • Ben Stein defines cognitive dissonance

  • I don't laugh at creationists? I just don't care.

And I think that bothers them, maybe.

Maybe they'd rather be laughed at and ridiculed like their Jesus was than just be ignored like they are exactly like everyone else on the planet: full of their own interpretations of the world.

  • @grrrr17 Indeed. When you ignore them, they can't claim "persecution" like their beloved savior and assorted martyrs. People are free to believe in silly superstitious bullshit; I won't care until they try to force me to live according to their mythologies. However, looking at current trends, I doubt that will occur. I think the species is starting to "grow up".

  • See a great lecture called: story of life origins: the obvious version

Gives a fresh look at the development of life, from the point of view of the developers of THING: an autonomous nano-machines complex, designed to auto clone itself out of molecules and energy that it gathers from its ambient.

Basic systems are described, including a quality control system named EVO1.

Suggests: if we put aside our preconditioning , and look just at the hard evidence, this becomes the OBVIOUS story of LIFE.

  • 8:30 - 9:00

What is it with the religious types and their evident superiority complex.

  • ben stein is a fucking cunt

  • Ben Stein's voice sounds a bit like the humming of bees, though not quite as pleasant. And Drooly too.

  • I'm sure he's learned a lot about darwin in LAW SCHOOL? nice

  • Comment removed

  • roflcopter, Stein is a moron. I used to actually respond to people like this with intelligent, meaningful responses, but they never get it, so I've reverted to just laughing at them. Haha

  • atheists would be cool people if they weren't starting alll wars, keeping countries in artificial poverty and wrecking up the lanet...

  • @unomnacajit111 Wut?

  • @unomnacajit111 Atheist don't start wars dear . Religous fanatics who in most cases are rightwing politicians as well do. And if your going to refer to hitler in this debate as being a atheist as many creationist do he was born and raised a catholic . He was also totally into the occult atheists don't believe in the occult ether.

  • @420gma Sadly atheists do start wars and commit horrible atrocities, you only have to look as far as Stalin and Mao to discover this. Neither side can claim the high moral ground on that issue. What is important is that non-believers and agnostics can be every bit as moral and 'good' as religious people and it is deeply insulting and ignorant of certain believers to claim otherwise.

  • @terrabun While I would like to point out that those men didn't commit those acts *due to* their atheism, I would like to note my complete agreement with your last sentence. Actually, I would posit that aforementioned non-believers are, in fact, "more moral" than believers. This is revealed when comparing the reasons behind "good" acts. One group does it for an eternal reward/to escape eternal punishment; the other group requires no such motivation.

  • @thoth81 Yeah good point, although there was wide spread religious persecution due to the atheist nature of Soviet style Communism it's true that the vast majority of the deaths they caused were not due to their religious (or otherwise) beliefs. Also totally agree that being a moral atheist is more impressive than being a moral believer. It does bug me though when some folks seem to think that 'atheist = good, believer = bad' and atheistic dogma is just as annoying as religious.

  • @terrabun

Soviet-style communism wasn't exactly atheist. It merely replaced deities with the State and sought to eliminate the competition.

I agree that one's religious beliefs or lack thereof does not confer the moral high ground...but it is interesting to note that the percentage of atheists in prison compared to that in society is disproportionately low.

  • @TheZooCrew Interesting on the prison stat, though I'm not sure I'd place too much weight on it given the temptation for people to 'find religion' when facing a long stretch. Add to that the fact that joining any group in a prison denotes a sense of belonging and security and you have to take it with a pinch of salt. Also consider maybe 'lapsed' believers and those who simply call themselves 'Catholic' (or whatever) due to heritage, you don't meet many lapsed Atheists :)

  • @terrabun

The "find religion" thing doesn't even apply here, as the professed religion of a convict is jotted down upon arrest and is not updated.

  • @TheZooCrew Fair enough, although I still don't really buy the 'atheists are more law abiding than believers' implication, maybe atheists simply make better criminals and thus get caught less! :P Statistics are always dodgy in this kind of debate.

  • @terrabun

I don't necessarily buy the argument either, but if an argument WERE to be made, it's pretty clear that the religious folks have no leg to stand on.

I only bring this up because atheists are still the most distrusted group in America by the numbers.

  • @TheZooCrew "atheists are still the most distrusted group" = most misunderstood
