I used to shoot on some fantastic land. It was a sod farm right next to a river. We could shoot down onto the sand bars or into the water if we kept our angles steep enough. We could take shots up to 1000 yards across the field if we wanted. All that was required was permission from the land owner, and he was pretty cool. Jackasses would show up, though, and one time they went too far. Some idiots with an AK started shooting houses across the river. The farmer closed the field to all of us.

Try Wisconsin. Mail boxes, signs, and sometimes even cars get shot up on a regular bases. You also hear people talking about shooting song birds with "big ass deer riffles". Fricken hics.

Wow, I now live in a rather small community in Alberta, and the sign across the street from me has about 5x the holes in it from retards plinking with shotguns/22's/and what appears to be some .223 rounds. They wont even put up anymore street signs around here due to people blowing them off.. so ya, I agree that there are some individuals (not just kids) who need some "readjustments".

It's bad on public lands, what amazes me is the idiots that stop and take pot shots at deer, turkey, or wild boar. There was one asshole that was riding around shooting wild boar with night vision, and just leaving them where they fell. That kind of BS gets me steamed...
I agree with nutnfancy, this happens too much, I lost the chance to shoot at my favorite range thanks to dumpers and vandalism. It's bad on public lands, what amazes me is the idiots that stop and take pot shots at deer, turkey, or wild boar. There was one asshole that was riding around shooting wild boar with night vision, and just leaving them where they fell. That kind of BS gets me steamed...

I agree with nutnfancy, this happens too much, I lost the chance to shoot at my favorite range thanks to dumpers and vandalism. Seriously people, clean up after yourselves, and don't shoot what isn't yours, would you like it if people shot up your car, or your property?/something like that, I doubt it.

It blows in my area sooo many rednecks slaughter road signs. They get riddled with holes then spray painted on. As did a portable deer stand that I stupidly left deep in public woods. Wont be making that mistake again. I've had my car window shot out, pets shot, tool shed shot. I'm just waiting for one of these assholes to try this when I'm home and see if they don't get a couple .223 rounds to show for it.

Yup. Same thing with a car, knife, snowmobile, ATV, or anything else that can injure or kill. I blame liberal politicians who use fear mongering(not to say conservative politicians don't of course, they use fear mongering a lot more but in very different ways) to sway their supporters. I'm with you Nutn. Perception is such a powerful force and we need to put on our best face as law-abiding and respectable citizens who enjoy the sport and liberty of firearms use and ownership. Also, I am a recreational hunter. As funny as I think some of the garb you can buy making light of hunting(ex: People Eating Tasty Animals, etc.), I refuse to purchase or endorse any of it because I think it sends a childish and reckless message to anyone seeing me wearing or carrying it.
