I absolutely LOVE this song, it's beautiful. In fact the whole album is stunning, it's music that actually means something and evokes emotion. Richard Hawley is awesome!!!
@Ricer1968 yep, me too, count me in. Into rock and punk but absolutely fell in love with 'Open up your door'. The guy reminds me of Lloyd Cole a bit too.
just because your die hard punk doesnt mean anything, its punk just being able to express yourself anyway you want, it doesnt mean you have to have the big rooster mohawk, you can be wearing office clothes and still be punk, punk is a mindstate not a fashion or musical taste, like look at this dude, he is the punk of his music, hes not trying to be anyone, well maybe eric clapton, but still he is his own, to me thats being punk, just expressing yourself but of course in a raw type of manner
sorry i meant to say elvis costello not eric clapton, i dunno how i got that confused, probably because of the E's and the glasses, they are both kinda dorky lookin, same as this guy
i like the bit in the video when the music has all gone beautiful and melodic with violins in the backround and the dog is pissing on his leg-weird but funny
Just heard this song for the first time on Radio 2 - Came on You Tube to see if I could find it -Absolutely beautiful - I thought at first it was Andy Williams or maybe Frank Sinatra. Thank you for putting it on...
I really love Richard Hawleys music. I believe he is totally underated. His sound is unique and haunting. If you have a special love in your life it sounds all the better.
As someone whose parents used to meet at Coles Corner when they were courting in the 1950s, I find this song poignant, touching and heartbreakingly awesome. It captures a period in our beautiful city's history that is fondly remebered by those who lived through it
Why, please explain me, is a Cole's corner a particular place? I love this song from the first time I heard it. But, has it got a special meaning? Does it concerning something?
Cole Brothers was an old department store in Sheffield, as the shop was on a corner people refered to it as "Coles Corner" It was a popular meeitng place . . . what a great song though, wonderful.
I hang round with all sorts of people. From 10 bob wanna be gangsters to toffs indy boys ,rock chicks, old coots, bling boyz the lot. Everyone of them loves this fooking tune
The guys a legand, far more talent than the majority of "pop" arse whipes that are around today. It was this song that kind of inspired me to propose to my girlfriend, its magical!!
im new to You tube but what a great site for listening to all the good talent this country has to offer........seen this man once, have all his records, going to see him at the Albert Hall in London and cant wait. What an amazing voice....keep it up Richard.
i first heard him on the radio when i was driving at night with my girlfriend. It was raining and we were crossing a bridge. i can't believe i found this. it's perfect
I don't understand why people can't just comment on the song they're listening too, without dragging in comparisons with other artists. I love this song... the video is so sad, but funny.
The time has come for everyone to tell everyone else how great RH is and to go buy one of his records. You'll still listen to it ten years from now. Unlike those of Jarvis
I really like Richard's stuff, but I love Jarvis too. The two things are not mutually exclusive. They're both great, both very different, it depends what you're looking for at the time I guess.
