Without getting flamed, can I ask why everyone gets so mad at the people in this video? This happened int he 70s, before everyone knows gorillas are nice. Hell it was THIS "event" that brought that fact to light.
I'm just really confused why everyone is hating on the humans for something they didn't know, and even if they did would still be extremely fearful for the child's life.

But the gorilla clearly didn't see this child as a threat, considering he was injured, and unconscious. So it stood guard, to make sure that the others didn't get too close.
Man, as much as it hurts, zoos are a necessary evil, at least for the time being. So long humans do not respect other species, zoos present a hope for keeping these species alive. Once we fully achieve conscience, then the zoos will turn into respectful, well-regulated ecotourism. Of course, all of this once we learn, understand, respect & appreciate every other animal, besides Homo Sapiens (if it's true that we do such thing...)

"Scares the beasts away". "Beasts"? Seems to me that enclosing and caging these "beasts" for conservation and enjoyment is far more beastly than such magnificent animals could ever be! If we stop destroying their natural habitat and poaching them, then this would never happen. We consider ourselves the dominant species, but it does not give us the right to do whatever we like to nature and all living things. Turn on the news these days and its clear it's humans that are "beasts" not vice versa.

Ignorant people should now understand that gorrilas aren't randomly aggresive. They only attack if you bug them like most animals. Chimpanzee's are the dangerous ones, very advocating and territorial. There was one case where a child fell in, and a mother gorilla picked it up and brought it too the door waiting for a person to take it. Thats understanding and distinction. It should be illegal to hunt these gentle animals.
