Hello my son Skyy Rodriguez has OI type 3 and Skyy has had multiple operations and his father has OI as well . We live in Edinburg, TX and Skyy is 8 years old. He is in first grade and has had the roding operation on both legs and my son can't walk nor can he stand. As her father, I want to be the first to share how proud I am of all that she's accomplished. Let me emphasize that before she was born, the doctor told us her life expectancy was about 3 months - if she survived birth. I always knew my daughter would be a brave fighter who could overcome anything.
That's why I named her Mara Jade, after a Star Wars heroine who struggled through personal challenge after personal challenge her whole life, never gave up, and was always victorious. She's a hero.
