  • I just saw a building projection last night on the Praetorian Building in downtown Dallas. It was amazing!!

  • who does that track?.... also thats totally cool!

  • Anybody knows who made this?

    ..i.e the company behind it?

  • yeah suck on that James Cameron

  • @zcxvasdfqwer1234 Dude it clearly says at the description: "Please note that this is a simulation which shows the creative possibilities."

If you look at the banners @ 1:24, they all appear to be 100% SOLID...whether if they were in fact frontal projections over the building's facade, they would have a certain transparency to them and you would be able to see the architectural detail of the wall trough them. Light isn't a solid, therefore if can't block the view of something being lit by it.

  • This would bring Times Square to the next level. They did something like this with lights to Philadelphia's City Hall a few Christmas's ago. It wasn't animated, but the projections traced the building.

  • this is one of the most amazing things ive ever seen

  • how the??

  • that real i saw it very big beamer

  • @fielmaso The author clearly stated it at the description by saying: "Please note that this is a simulation which shows the creative possibilities."

  • cant anyone just enjoy something anymore...

  • They don't actually say this is real live projection, I think it's from their pitch (ie mockups for client before the event) because the real projections are shown on their channel marked "Live performance" and they are not nearly as slick-looking. In this version, nobody walking past the cathedral stopped to watch - which in real life, they sure do when something like this happens. Undermines peoples confidence in the technique to infer this is real, though. Stick with live camera versions!

  • Hi Guys this is real, they were hired to project on the Gate of Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen during Cop15. Believe it's amazing what they can do...

    SO SEEING IS BELIEVING...

  • I think they useed laser projector

  • Actually they did this for new years in Sugarland Texas and i was there for the event and it looks like this. It is sooo real, its awesome!

  • This is so real :) believe me...they make a background of the building and add some maya/3dmax 3dart on it and then project it on different angels, very cool done ofcourse with the best hardware availeble :P

  • Not to even mention 2:14 where you can see that "light is projected" outside the building itself -- in open air...

  • Now there's a major question to people who say this "is real" -- have you ever tried to do light projections yourself?

If you project a white circle on a non-white building what you get is a lighted spot on the building. If you project a "blue ball" on the building -- what you get is a significantly less lighted spot on the building -- there's no way you can project a shaded blue ball on a non-white background with an RGB light projector as in 0:16

  • whats the song???

  • The Asteroids Galaxy Tour - Around the Bend

  • Pretty sure this is real to anyone saying it isn't. It's wonderful use of size and shadow orientation to fool the human brain into thinking it isn't. They use the fact that the building is already fully shadowed to their advantage and stop projecting light in certain areas to create amazing effects. If it isn't real, it's totally possible.

  • Whether it's really projected or not, it's a cool display of motion graphics.

  • Does anyone know, what song is soundtrack? I love this video :)

  • "around the bend" by Asteroids Galaxy Tour

thanks to shazam on my iPhone :)

  • Its not real..... its annoying

  • very wonderful. love the imagination

  • It is totally fake. Why are people going past not paying attention to it and why is the projection not hitting the birds that are flying by at times?

  • @ Jellyform:

Actually, if you look closely, you can see some people paying attention and taking photographs @ 0:42, 1:03, 1:34, and 2:02.

  • @revolutionjo these are important buildings they might be tourists. but in all cases its a great video

  • yeah who cares if its real or not, looks fake but who sings that song!?

  • The 3d 'projection' on this video looks quite different to the projection they show on the website. On the website it looks like it actually could have come from projectors.. on this video it looks much more like post-production.

    Good effort though.

Beware, the website has horrible navigation.

  • very suspicious indeed. spectators seem too uninterested and also if you stop the frame on 2:14 the projection goes outside the canvas and projects on the sky -- what the heck?

the same video from different angles doesn't tell a thing. if you have built a 3D model for this it's not a big thing to do the tracking from two angles.

  • i dunno if the video may have been enhanced in post. but it's not fake. if you actually check out the web page displayed there's another vid with projection viewed at other angles. and in that vid you can actually tell a lot more that it's projection.

  • I saw a thing on Make TV similar to this.

  • Hey! This is better than fireworks, and more ecological!

This Tech shold be in many parties and holidays!

    ;-)

  • Totally fake. No projector is able to give out that much high def yet, especially when its still light out !!!!!

Further more that kind of projection is bound to attract more than two spectators.

  • A cinema projector could.

But you're probably right about the spectators :-/

    Nice concept, though...

  • I'm pretty sure the song is

    Around the Bends

    By the Asteroids Galaxy Tour

  • That`s the one, Thanks!

ps: I don`t care if this is fake, it still looks awsome. :)

  • song?

  • ахуеть

  • whats teh song?

  • incredible....very nice

  • Gah, I want to believe it but the more times i watch it the less convinced I become. If you look at the giant banners flapping at 1:25 they look really smooth and consistent, yet the materials underneath them (particularly the boundary between the stone and multi pane windows) would reflect the light in drastically different ways that you just can't compensate for with a projector.

I think this is some prototype work showing off what they hope to achieve. Still fun to watch regardless

  • It's totally a fake without live experience

  • Surely fake, the light reflects uniformly on all the surfaces. Notice windows. It's only lighten or overlay effect in software. Birds are artifical, too.

  • Totally a fake, the people walking by dont even stop for a moment to observe, ya know, if I saw somethin that amazing i would stop at least for few minutes....

  • Mind twisting, I love it, I wanna see it in person for sure

  • This is really fantastic!

Anyone know what the song is?

  • This would have to be one HELL of a projector if this were to actually happen.

  • It is.

  • Fake, as you can see at 1:39 where the yellow blurry thing also covers the people in the front, the effects have been added later. Looks cool though :D

  • surely that proves it's not fake. If it was done afterwards they could have easily made sure the blurry light went behind the people rather than other them, which is what would happen if they were in the way of the projection.

  • Apart from anything else- look at the people watching, lots of people are stopping, or slowing down, to look, which suggests something is happening.

  • Don't forget that rather confused flock of birds flying about that building as well...

  • Maybe that's because they were in front of one of the projectors? I think so!

  • Fantastic. The skeptic in me thinks that this is a mock-up demo of a possible technology. The comment does not say that these ARE being projected. Only that they WILL be.

  • Excellent video and 3D animation!! 5*

  • How does this 3D technology work??

  • This is pretty awesome. How long till someone plays a hoax with projecting flames?

  • i love this song. the asteroids galaxy tour rocks!!!!

  • Whats this song?

  • amazing

  • See Shaderlamps on Wikipedia

  • Nice but unfortunately it is a fake superimposed animation. see at 1:03 the white balls are visible outside the bldg! but the effects dont stay registered with proxy geometry, so the camera has to be exactly at the projector (there would be occlusion shadows of the columns due to parallax between camera and projector) 2:06 .. Any illumination creates secondary scattering and global illumination. This would be visible on street and neighboring buildings. This is missing.

  • see yourself - balls are not outside the building.

  • I think you're wrong. Look closer. The effects never exceed the buildings' boundaries.

  • there arnt any white balls off the building at 103

  • I dont know what the heck your saying but you sure do sound convincing. I will trust you on this one!

  • Stellar.

  • AMAZING O.o

  • Whats the name on the song?

  • The Asteroids Galaxy Tour - Around The Bend

  • Fantastisch en in het echt ook zeer de moeite waard.

  • yeah!

who knows what the track is?

  • Around the bend by The Asteroids Galaxy Tour

  • fantastic

  • Zeer goed! Interessant voor een aantal van mijn klanten
