@Icarus528 If you want to get technical, since the Shininess of a Pokemon in 2nd gen is determined by their IVs, which are shared with 1st gen, you could certainly have a shiny Pokemon in 1st. You just wouldn't know it until you transferred it over to 2nd, and the game registered that combination of IVs as being indicative of a Shiny Pokemon.

"Everyone's Pokedex may look the same, but each tells a different story". There were rumors that Shinies had special traits like, Pokerus, perfect IVs, and apparently hard to get items ,but it was proven false and removed off the internet. :3
