Chevy=cheap junk. GM in genral just makes cheap crap. There really isnt anything u can say thats good about chevy" all true
all of our chevys have 150k plus with no engine repairs, no transmission repairs, all are modified. all road trucks have factory exhaust, lights still work. we have had an axle seal go bad, u joints, flywheel and 1 feul pump.out of 5 trucks.
hmm. these are the mostly same prblems my dodge, tundra , ford and friends have on their trucks. dodges can't turn, transmissions, hubs and oil pumps fail . fords ugly, transmissions wheel bearings interior lights fail poor gas mileage. tundras no power for climbing or spinning big tires.
Chevy lives up to its trade mark "LIke a Rock", on the side of the road. They also came out with a new winter package, the heated tailgate. Its for when your pushing your Chevy and you dont freeze your hands.
the ford in this vid has bigger tires which make a lot of stress on the axles. also, judging by the lift, i doubt the axles are even made by ford, or anything under the tranny for that matter. so don't blame ford. either way all these additions put stress on the truck.
yes the ford had bigger tires. we put this truck together because we LIKE fords. the f150 had a 9 inch rear with 31 spline axles, 44 ground hawgs, 12 inch lift, 4 speed manual, 3.90 gears, dana 60 front, lockers front and rear.
nice. must be fun to take off roading. i like to keep trucks stock though, because things seem to always work better from the factory. it's when it starts getting old like this that you modify it.
yes exactly. the f150 is a 1977, 1he k5 is an 1984, we also have a 1989 1500 blazer small lift and engine mods an ex ATF truck and a 1982 gmc jimmy 36's and 6 inch lift. gas has been high this year so we have only gone out once this year wheeling
i know what you mean. i have an '89 f-250. it's not modified or anything, it's even just 2wd and doesn't have limited slip or locking diffs, but it does have a lift gate. it runs great though and has been to hell an back and i love the thing. i usually take it places like paintballing or throw a couple dirt bikes in the back and go riding, but lately with gas prices i can barely go anywhere.
well driving just about anything was killing yourself on gas prices. i'm not complaining now though, the gas here is down to about 1.80 and dropping fast, so i'm out driving whenever i can.
The real crappy trucks are chevys. Underpowered, horrible turning radius, ugly as sin, dominated by plasitc, stupid day/headlights are always out, overpriced, no bedliner, transmission breaks all the time, no longevity, tailpipes rust in a week, the duramax doesnt hold up, weak frame, the inner workings fail all the time, the list goes on and on. Chevy = cheap junk. GM in genral just makes cheap crap. There really isnt anything u can say thats good about chevy.
yea, i'd have to agree with you man. i have been around ford and chevy all my life. they are both great trucks. competition is fine but why hate on our own trucks when there is those damned imports movin in on us. ford and chevy are excellent AMERICAN vehicles and i swear by them both.
well that is not true. the ford in this video has a 9 inch rear and we broke it vs the chevy using the 8.5 10 bolt. the 9 inch is just easier to work on. a 12 bolt chevy is just as strong as the for 9 inch. a 14 bolt chevy is stronger than a 9 inch also stock for stock
No, the 9" is NOT easier to work on. It has a non-removable rear cover and no drain plug.. WTF man? It's just been known to be quicker to swap out the third member to do a gear swap.
Auburn, I've built both of these and the 9" wins hands down. The tubes on the Chevy are thick but soft material. They can't be readily changed, the center takes lots of work and skill to properly brace and its heavy. You can build a 9" thats way stronger and lighter, parts to fit it. We straighten housings every day and build race housings. A floater 9", 35 splined Ford rear can't be beat. There is NO way a 12 bolt GM is as strong as a 9" Ford. If you saw what we worked on you'd see.
hmm i have found the 12 bolt for trucks to be better than the cars. larger bearings, thicker gears, axles retained by bearings not c-clips. plus if we were to convert to a 9 in our chevys the we have to fab spring perches
for some reason the FORD lovers have to keep conveying how much theirs can be built or made better. i was saying stock for stock the 9 and 12 bolt are the same for strength. yes there are a lot of ford options, you can even have a high center pinion for better ground clearence. we have broken all axles and bent all tubes. dana's , full floater and 1 ton military axles. if it is not set up right to begin with it will fail when tested.
look at the tires on the f150 and compare them to the blazer..those tires would put alot of stress on that axle so dont anyway be sayin ford sucks because i broke the axle
ok get a clue come to the auglaize county fair grounds every may and watch how tug a truck really workers..oh yea shows how smart you guys are you dont pull on grass or dirt the true test is on pavement..and it is easier on the parts aswell. and p.s fords have one every year but 1
look i like ford, dodge and chevy trucks. NO IMPORTS!!! i was busting the inbred commentators chops. we have broken everything in our trucks over the years and have gotten all makes stuck, even the imports.
i was bustn his cops because he is ignorant. that ford is pretty good offroad as are most built trucks. it is a play truck with 44's and 12 inch lift not a work truck. we did break one of the 9inch rearend axles then though. however tries are so important in the dirt and mud. i had just put on new 35 bfg mud terrains.
it sucks in your little inbred ford world. that ford lost 6 out of 6 times, it has 44 super swampers, 4.88 gears and a 4 speed. i have pulled many fords back to the pavement because they break off road all the time in the dirt
it was when your house, sorry your double wide and your f150 was stuck behind walmart in the dirt road when you were moving. what 28.ooo lbs? i mean come on it wasn't even dirt or 2 track
maybe if you tried to wheel in the mud you would see the real fact. my little pos wussy 1500 chevy has 14 bolt rear 12 bolt front and 8 lugs. the most i pulled out of a mud pit after i drove around them was a dodge 2500 hooked up to a f350. both were black smokers. so what ever they weigh is the most i pulled out. my other chevy pulls our 35 ft enclosed 2 car hauler trailer all over the country loaded with our mustangs with bowtie power
people are dumb for playing tug of war becuase it could blow out your engine or either mest up your whole engine

Hmm...anyone who knows ANYTHING about axles knows that Ford makes FAR stronger units. i.e. Ford 9". Can't even argue that one.

Obviously the dude didn't beef up the axles to handle those oversize tires. Bigger tire radius=more stress on parts.
