  • anyone knows if he recorded an cd with this piece ? i realy think its a beautiful recording. pitty the audio quality isnt that good.

  • @hjiuhfhrehui Yes, he has, on a CD called "Piano Recital". It is available on Classics Online.

  • @MrFvasconcellos thank you :D !!!

  • Absolutely stunning!

  • This is just absolutely beautiful... Bravo!

  • how is it possible that the piano just sits there??? it seems like with that kind of music pouring out of it, it would wake up or something!!!! this is amazing!!!!!

  • Wish those glissandi were not in there (esp. at the very end). The "limping" in the inner voices at the beginning are also annoying. However, the sonorities achieved were very appealing, esp. on that amazing piano. Thanks for posting.

  • @maestrojimbo The "limping" appears both in Agosti's transcription and Stravinsky's score, since it is being played on a harp. It is standard practice to arpeggiate the notes slightly unless it is specifically indicated for them to be played together.

  • @vysehrad I do know the score well - the delaying of the beat so many times within phrases is what I was referring to, not the harp part. The glissandi are redundant as are some of the added pianistic effects. Some work, some do not - just my opinion.

  • @ElPr0n i smell a little irony in that comment =)

  • @ElPr0n LOL. the original piece is made for orchestra =)

  • @meesbroersen But I imagine Stravinski sat at a piano to compose it- don't you think?

  • @Nicar526 yeah

  • This is a truly wonderful performance!

  • Great performance, he was wiped out afer this, like running a five mile race.

  • Phenomenal.

  • BRAVOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, one of the more amazing things I have seen! Sublime.

  • no words...

  • I get a chill through my body every time I hear the 3rd dance. I am trying to incorporate it in my Dressage Freestyle competition!!!!

  • The firebird is extraordinary, few orchestras are able to reallly give it a proper feel.

  • we're playing this piece along with the rest of the suite in the San Diego Youth Symphony. Really fun to play, but tough.

  • 4:22. it looks like his fingers are the nature spirit itself dancing with the song

    o.0

  • What a beautiful and colorful interpretation of a great piece of music!

  • i love francesco piemontesi's playing, i really enjoyed his brahms second piano concerto two years ago and i'd really love to watch that video again.. but i think martin jones' interpretation of this suite is a must have (actually i think the same applies to any martin jones recording)

  • Out of the three pianists with Italian names who have recordings of this transcription on youtube, I like this one best.

    Wishing to hear more Piemontesi!

  • Stravinsky's compositions are EPIC, and the Firebird in particular is a wonderful match with the powerful beast of an instrument that the Piano is. Mr. Agosti's genius transcription captured the symphonic sense of the piano.

and Mr. Piemontesi conveyed the different timbres intended in this composition. (The beginning really sounded like a bassoon).

  • It is so interesting to hear symphonic rep played on the piano. Mr Piemontesi's performance is formidable, but there are too many liberties, especially with the tempo -- in my humble opinion. It's a very Romantic reading of the piece.

  • totally agree. Sometimes I really dislike it. sometimes I like it...

It is not a "stravinsky" interpretation. it's more like a lizt one.

  • i completely agree. its refreshing to hear a new face though.

  • I'm looking 4 the score...

The piano transcription, what Mr. Piemontesi played...

Anyone out there who has it?

    d'Oh!! :/

  • I found it once on the internet, and now I've lost it. If I can find it again, I'll let you know.

  • i sent you a pm

  • beautiful piece beautifully played
