  • Blackmore has always been a genius - who is quite mad. This version actually makes a lot of sense. And with Gillan unable to get anywhere near those high notes anymore, having a female vocalist for this song maked much sense. I like it!

  • bella musica. bella voce. ma i testi cantati da Ian non si toccano

  • Is it possible for people to just listen to/watch these videos without creating an argument out of it? Let's just sit back, listen to the music, and go back in time to the old days. Relax.

  • Na boa, o Blackmore é quem salva essa banda...

  • Blackmore's Night = Ritchie Blackmor & Cande Night

  • Blackmore (Ritchie) & Night (Candice)

  • Ian Gillan has never been so beautiful!!

  • she is the perfect woman

  • Cover or no cover, it is not one of their strongest concert moments.

  • @mincemeat99 how can this be a cover when richie blackmore made it??!! yes he made it for Deep purple but he made it and he is playing here!!Blackmore*s night is SO good music!!!

  • To TomGreenUK: sorry dude, hit the wrong buttons there.

  • And so started the middle ages ... or as it's called, ''the dark ages''

  • What an excellent folk adaptation for that amazing song . loved it .

  • Was ist mit seinem Gesicht passiert?

    Schnurrbart ????

  • Please I love Ritchie but give me Ian and only Ian for that song.Deep Purple version so much better.

  • Do you know the name of the instrumental song at the beginning and the end of this video?

  • @AttoKilmister92 Mond Tanz

  • The acoustic guitar is very nice but the vocals just don't do it for me. Only Gillan can sing this song

  • I like so much blackmore's night...but I just can't listen this song after to listen the original version

  • Better then Deep Purple! Please,

  • 3:30 phenomenal!

  • I think this is an awesome cover.. really nice guitar job at the beginning .. and plz guys stop comparing covers with the originals.. if you really don't want to hear something new just stick to the originals forever.

  • μια πολυ ωραια διασκευη

  • i think this version better than Deep Purple

    imho

  • strange-but good......

  • THIS IS A GREAT VERSION OF A DEEP PURPLE CLASSIC.

THE ARRANGEMENT,THE FEMALE VOICES AND OF COURSE RITCHIES BEAUTIFUL GUITAR .

IT IS NOT AND IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE 1972 DEEP PURPLE.

I HAVE SPENT 35 YEARS LISTENING TO DEEP PURPLE,AND I AM RITCHIES GREATEST FAN AND THIS IS A GREAT VERSION-THAT DOES NOT MEAN I DON'T LIKE DEEP PURPLES VERSION ANYMORE.

HOWEVER I DON'T REALLY LIKE THE MOND TANZ OUTRO-I THINK IT SPOILS IT.

THE ORIGINAL MOND TANZ WAS A GREAT SONG THEY HAVE MILKED IT DOWN!!

  • hah.. at the end when she said sisters of the moon i thought Stevie Nicks would pop out of nowhere and start singing :)

ps i think this version is cute.. the DP MKII version is still the best.. but this was cute

  • Talk about make a joke version of a master peace......Moron

  • Well she's the hottest vuvuzela player I've ever seen!

  • @visog Made my day :D

  • @visog That is more a shawm, Breton bombarde or Turkish zurna.

  • sunáznám

  • IAN GILLAN is the ONLY man who can sing this lyric persuasively.

Candise's vocalization is a little LIGHT.

Originally, this lyric contains much more HEAVY or SERIOUS matter.

  • Absolutely awesome!, said by an old DP-fan. Love it!!

    Thanks for uploading this.

  • Ritchie (like many from his former colleagues) has got his ears in saturation after decades shooting thousands of watts with Deep Purple, so the sly man - modern bard - got his "buen retiro" amongst beautiful handmaids and naiads playing sweet music and enjoying baccanales in fairy location.

  • The circle is round again....Blackmore pays homage to the original version of It's A Beautiful Day, at least in the acoustic intro part on guitar...

  • wonderful song !!

  • I think i prefer the Gillian-original but this is definitively not bad

  • @fightthepower460 Gillan original? you mean Deep Purple original?

  • @Holdington

    Yeah sung by Gillian

  • beautiful song

  • Having imprinted in my mind Ian's voice I must say every other performance is sacrilege.Including this one.

  • What complements Candice's voice and makes it sound more angelic are the equally angelic voices of "Sisters of the Moon" Madeliene and Nancy. They have a true gift and I wish they would perform more. They can stand on their own. With voices like that they have to be classically trained or truly gifted. They are equally as awesome to look at as Candice. All three on stage are a feast for the eyes.

  • DEEP PURPLE version is by far better!!!

  • @IVI252525 Deep Purple's version is different. De gustibus non est desputandum.

  • @IVI252525

Maybe. I think it's just different.

  • @IVI252525 Couldnt agree more

  • @IVI252525 Pointless comment!

  • @IVI252525 Maybe beacause deep purple is the original and you found that video when you were searching for deep purple version.

  • @IVI252525 No...it's different is all

  • not as good as dp's version but still acceptable. nice little beat at the beginning

  • Wonderful sonG!!

  • I like very much your performance !!!*****

  • What a song - ... --- ... --- ... really great tune from yester-years..brought back to TODAY ; ; ; ; Candice n Ritchie Blackmore !!!!!! more more more!!!!

  • Candice is too cute for Blackmore

  • @teo2712 nobody is too cute for blackmore!!!!!

  • I love the two backgroundsingers!

    I love their voices!!!!!!

  • you mean the Posner-Sisters?Yes,they are very good!!

  • Yes of course!

  • why did he never played a slide with purple? :(

  • Would be great ^^

  • Great feel to this song. Well Done!

  • I think Ritchie is just indulging the little lady. If him and Ian Gillan can never make it up, maybe he should give Tim Ripper Owens a call when Yngwie has finished with him.

Candice could bring them both cups of tea and hob-nobs like a good little housewife.

  • De gustibus non est disputandum...would you like her voice better if she were ugly?

  • Well, it's a bit like hearing Metallica sung by Britney Spears. Come to think of it, she covered Joan Jett's I Love Rock 'n Roll and it was so lightweight it nearly floated away.

    No.

Get Tim Ripper Owens in I say and let Candice bake them both some nice cakes.

  • Nick, so we agree to disagree - but you are man enough to say "not my thing" instead of "ought to be banned"...OK, mate.

  • Oh, absolutely. I mean Candice can sing and I think the song "Locked Within The Crystall Ball" is actually quite good. But that was written for her to sing.

Hearing her sing Deep Purple just sounds wrong to me. But if some people like it then that's just fine by me.

    Each to their own.

  • Could not agree more, mate.:)

  • Hell, this is crap. Blackmore might be genius at the guitar but with this version he ruined a great song. Candice has a good voice and is a good singer but she doesn't sing the song with the passion, Ian Gillan had.

    DEEP PURPLE FOREVER

  • No one can sing this song like Gillan (in the seventies!)

  • sweet

  • this version is beautiful, the deep purple version has always plain annoyed me

  • The Deep Purple MKII lineup playing this song hit like a bullet...this version hits like a limp noodle.

  • And one more thing: the ending sound of the twins is wonderfully found out. (and sung).

It is a very good arrangement of the original.

The mediavel folk part is really not necessary framework, but the contrast is good: first the bad, then the good. After a bit suffer, the good is even better.

  • Well having been lucky enough to have seen Purple 71/72 and Blackmore's Night all i can say for pure power and making your ears bleed it was Mr Gillan & Mr Blackmore coming at u at 10,000 watts. Blackmore's Night i have to say Ritchie is playing far better technical guitar and a joy to see and hear. Theres always a special cheer when Rithchie picks up the Strat, he then taunts the crowd by putting it back down. Before treating the crowd to Black Night or Smoke on the Water.

  • Oh, so he does still own his strat, eh?

  • Blackmore's Night Vs Deep Purple...ummm

Both are good arrangements in their own right but you cant seriously compare them. The lyrics are too masculine to be sung with a female voice. There's no weight behind them.

  • Common, guys. It's not that bad. Well, except for the "folk" part :) Who's really great in this one are Maddy and Nancy Posner - Sisters of the Moon. They are simply amazing. Too bad for Ritchie that they left the band.

  • Totally agree. I'm a Blackmore fan - and Gillan is my favourite singer (the young One), yet I say it is not bad, no problem with Candice. Moreover: it is catarthic (at 3:32) Thanks to the twins.

Anyway, I'm glad that Ritchie probably likes this hit so much that He put it into the repertoir of BN. The only from Deep Purple. (Smoke on and Black Night are only bonuses.)

  • what the hell is that squeaky thing?

  • Good, but the one by Deep Purple can't be beaten.

  • agree....only I don't even think it's good. Sorry.

  • Candice's voice really isn't cut out to belt "Child in Time" like Ian Gillan.

  • She's a lovely singer but Child in Time sounds a bit off with a female voice.

  • Very true. Plus I'm not that crazy about an acoustic arrangement. Compare that to the heavy metal prog rock of the DP version and there's no question as to which music is better and more interesting.

  • Heavy metal prog rock is very good! Acoustic arrangements work for very few songs. This song is deserving of good percussion and passionate singing.

  • What it could really use is an organ.

  • YES! So true. Not enough music nowadays uses organ and it adds a whole new dimension and richness to the sound. It needs me :)

  • lol notice how alot of the old instruments are starting to not be used anymore, soon therell be no more guitar , just computer riffs lol

  • oh god...please no :(....thanks!

  • Wish they would put this on a DvD I would buy it in a second. Might as well wish Blu Ray and that they do Temple of the King while I'm wishing :)

  • very nice, part from ritchie and candice i really loved the `backing vocal sisters`

any info where this is recorded?

saw em in copenhagen, reminded me alot of that concert

    cheers :)

  • Oh, and Ritchie's wife is nice!

  • Amazing cover. Great band.

  • Yes, of course!

  • Interesting

  • Oh, Yes!

  • I loce both this and the Ian G. band version! Both are great and i respect both musicians as well as all the other impressive and tallented DP musicians!

  • I.G. like too:)
