Hey Vic, I saw you with weather report in 1984 in London and it is still the best gig I have ever seen! I've been playing 30 years and you are one of my biggest influences...I had an upright years ago and its great for your technique when you get back on an electric..makes those hands string man!
Sounds good, Maybe try a little bit slower tempo, so to get the groove. Keep that left wrist curved a bit. Try hitting strings with a little side of fingers...I grew up listening to Ray Brown, and was know as the walker. Had to go electric when I came to L.A. Recorded on an old Epiphone bass. After 18 years of not playing, I'm back at it, and having more fun now than when I was a pro. Keep walking, and find the groove.
Like you, I've been playing electric for many years and am just starting to learn upright. You sound a lot better than me though! Upright hurts a LOT more than electric...
Dude, when I was a kid I remember watching you playing with Weather Report on TV here in the UK and it inspired me to play the bass - I vividly remember your baseball cap and the cheeky glances back to Mr Hakim. I loved the exuberance of your playing and Waltz in Db is still one of my favourite tracks. Cheers!

like me and a lot of electric players that get on the upright players you are going mad on that thing like its an electric bass !!! but why not , stanley clarke goes completely nuts and eddie gomez too ! eddie with the low action on chicks THE MAD HATTER is a great example of a solo on upright with more notes than a jaco solo . you start sounding like mcbride past the 4 mins mark , great to see you doing this and you look like a 25 year old in the video ! enthusiasm !!! im going mad on guitar
@vicslic yes i know your 51 and you just proved it by completely forgeting about the bass aspect here when i said you looked 25 !!!! im the same when anybody says i look younger ..... but the truth is you do look young and your enthusiasm is very present too . makes me want to practice upright right now .... did you see my jam with new king of bebop sacha perry ? i think i look a bit young in that video although i was 41 ... lets keep jamming and chasing younger women !!!!! god bless
