I, personally, have 15 NES's ready to go for projects like these. Baught them off an old friend who used to service them back in the day. Want to know why he has over 50 of them? people bring them in to be serviced for a $25 fee, decide it's not worth it to fix so he buys them out for $10 a pop. Yea...loyalty dies fast when the dollar sign lights up eh?

dont know if u seen a sundriver modchip but it replaces the wiis internal dvd drive with a 2.5"hdd &can load GCand wii backups,then if i softmod i can install all nes snes genesis tg16 etc..games with virtual console wad files or use roms and emulators,and if the usb connected dvd can play movies with a homebrew app on my softmod wii ,then it will do almost everything &be in a nes case,providing i can fit it,in there,and have the cool nes door open/close effect when the dvd drawer opens/closes

I can get 4-5 DVD free DVD players a day from a local recycling company, yet the only NES I've seen for sale locally was one for $100.00 at a thrift store, which sold that very day.

DVD players aren't ever going to keep their value. They're going to be just like VHS players. The NES, however, will always be collected by hobbyists and will at least be worth something.
