yeah i noticed that also, probably because in halo 3 its all about MLG so if you have a custom people think that its fake, but in halo 2 it wasn't all about MLG and customs were just so much funner.
I agree with you about watching a social montage rather than an all MLG montage. But sadly a majority of the people don't think that way. So thats why Halo 3 is all about MLG. Bungie even changed most of the maps for the hardcore player who wants to play Team Slayer with an MLG type of map.
