I am from picher, born and raised, and to this day I can say that watching this video made me cry. If it were possible to go back, I would chose to live there again. Everyone knew each other. Everyone was friendly. Picher will forever be in my heart and apart of my life.
it wasn't just due to a tornado. They had some problems with lead and cadmium before it. The possiblilty of old mines collapsing houses is what really killed the town. Then people were pretty much forced to leave.
