"Meia" in this case is the feminine form of "meio", wich means "half". It comes from the expression "meia dúzia", that is, half a dozen. "Uma dúzia" is a dozen.

It's a term in Brasil, I don't know why is used, probably because six is half dozen. In this case, meia means half, which is other meaning for the word.

In this case "meia" and "seis" mean the same, it's just mecause "meia, meia, meia" sounds better than "seis, seis, seis".
