  • simon cowell.

  • It's fascinating how you can see the strengh that he puts when he sings, he lived his music, it's timeless

  • 32 years later this still sounds like a message from an alternative future.

Looking at the audience 'dancing', however, you do see what Ecstasy did for us.

  • Who the fuck disliked this?

  • @AttractedADA The Buzzcocks

  • Fucking, Glorious.

  • I like the drums slowing down at the end, rather like a machine of some kind winding down gradually after being swtiched off.

    Brilliant band.

  • "...no language, just sound, that's all we need to know, to synchronize love to the beat of the show...!"

  • 31 years and this song is still hard.

  • i hope that you are still dancing in the sky my friend!

  • Radio, live transmission. Radio, live transmission. Listen to the silence, let it ring on. Eyes, dark grey lenses frightened of the sun. We would have a fine time living in the night, Left to blind destruction, Waiting for our sight. And we would go on as though nothing was wrong. And hide from these days we remained all alone. Staying in the same place, just staying out the time. Touching from a distance, Further all the time. Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio.
  • A masterpiece

  • Hahaha, John Cooper Clarke at the start. & This is perhaps my favourite Joy Division song aswell as Disorder and Love Will Tear Us Apart. Absolutely love it.

  • @Cabeisbeastable O RLY? No shit! Congratulations on proving to us you have the I.Q of a plant.

  • this song makes me horny

  • A música se apoderava dele como uma entidade e então começava a sua dança peculiar, esquizofrênica e genial. Grande banda. Grande Ian Curtis.

  • Performance comparável. Arrepio inevitável. And we could Dance!!!

  • where did you get this video of joy division?

  • and we can dancr!!!!!!!!

  • Dislike for this band? Really? I hope you feel guilty. You know who you are.

  • SHOW DE BOLA!

    JOY DIVISION PARA SEMPRE!

  • @thischarmingman84 - i totally agree with you m'friend. the first 45 seconds is just completely unmatched by any other song. :)

  • Steve Morris, probably one of the best drummers ever from Manchester. Thanks for posting yuriprado3.........martin from Manchester

  • Excuse me but what is he saying at the beggining and at the end ?

    I'm french so I don't understand

  • @AmbrineYeah He's a poet. The poem is basically complaining about stuff. Bloody this and bloody that. Nothing interesting. Kind of funny though.

  • @xXElMananaXx

Well, what a good accent ! It sounds really good. :)

Thank you so much for your answer, have a good day.

  • @AmbrineYeah it's a poem by john clarke cooper and it's called chicken town ;)

  • God. They all kick ass. Period.

  • i love the druming on this and a good touch in the end

    :)

  • love u always <3

  • there's nothing in the world like the opening bass line! this is pure energy and a great example of genuine performing

  • Totally agree :-)

  • @DoubleIntruder you know not everything in music has to be complex to be awesome, actually most of the time it's the simplest thing that is truely amazing. so don't try to make it seem less than what it really is.

  • @DethMetalHippie21 Yeah i know, it's just not for me though..

    Still the drumming is great..

  • @thischarmingman84 Yes, the bass line in brilliant, but so is the guitar piece IMO.

  • @thischarmingman84

Ah mate tell me about it, I get shivers each time I hear that bass line.

  • Any video containing both John Cooper Clarke and Joy Division is bound to be full of win,

  • For Joy Division Fans, We posted some videos on our page of our show on December 4th. Hopefully some of you will find them interesting. make sure to visit our myspace as well.

  • IAN THE GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD

  • you got that right rod!

  • better than the album version i reckon

  • Ian Curtis > God

  • @KurtCobainSchool 4 real!

  • @KurtCobainSchool I agree - i adore him!!

  • @KurtCobainSchool Your comment < original

  • What is he reading?

  • he's a poet

  • this makes me hate editors even more

  • hahaha

  • Anyone know Keith Levene? Come and see him at my channel..LIVE!

  • this is the same episode of 'Something else' that The Jam where on. two great bands but Joy division better

  • Absolutely one of the gorgeous bands of their times!!! Still inspiring... Unique and beautiful... Drummer is great, the bass is amazing, and Ian Curtis is a piece of jewel... One corner stone in the history of music...

  • This song demonstrates Ian Curti's remarkable energy and charisma onstage. He starts the song out very lowbeat and calm, eyes half open, stiff as a board and voice sounding almost dead. Then the music energizes him, he launches into his herky jerky dance and starts screaming into the microphone with eyes bugging. Then it all dies down again in the end-a total adrenaline burst. Must have been amazing to see in person.

  • tight

  • Quem deveria se enforcar eram esses cantores de sertanejo, pagodeiros,axézeiros etc. O cra morreu mas seu som é pra sempre

  • It's funny. I just watched the performance from "Control" of this song, and the real band is so much better, even though the people who reproduced it for the movie had all the resources at their disposal to make it over-the-top.

  • Me too- nothing better than the original

  • Well first of all, you can't really reproduce the soul of Ian's haunting vocals and secondly, the producers chose to have the actors play the music live. The performances you saw in Control were played live, pretty much in the same conditions as JD did, to have a real feeling to it.

  • I agree wih you, and (please do not blame me) I adore this song (opening track of Unknown Pleasures), but should be more correct to write the source ""Transmission (from the movie "Control")" if notr is misleading

  • it's impossible to replicate Curtis' charisma. He looks possessed up there; he truly suffered for his music, unlike all these so-called 'dark' bands we have nowadays.

  • Totally he is so uninhibited, and real. Completely lost in the song.

  • My thought exactly - I watched this earlier, than the "Control" version, which was pretty good, then back to the original - definitely something not able to be "transmitted!"

One observation of the New Order vids - the live performances are WAY better than the studio vids.

  • drummer's a beast

  • most underrated drummer there is, he's fucking ace stevey boy is

  • people dance to joy division

  • who's that guy at the begginning and the end?

  • That guy is John Cooper Clarke and he is pure genius.

    Joy Division is amazing!

  • it's not a ghost it's the cymbal.

  • it's not a ghost it's the cymbal.

  • The 2:20 thing: if you look closely, you'll see there's a crash cymbal directly behind Ian. Stephen does a nice little drum fill that ends right at 2:20 and you'll notice he hits that cymbal particularly hard, tipping it up right behind Ian, creating that anomaly you folks keep pointing out.

  • in 2:20 is just a error on the video - the cymbal is been hittet

  • in 2:20 is just a error on the video, this is not a ghost.

  • Stunning band - black oblique lyrics - perfect self indulgence to zone out to.

  • theres a strange thing at 2:20 maybe a ghost?

    look at ian

  • he teares me apart

  • real live crowd....

  • Radio... Live transmission

The things that we've learnt are no longer enough

No language, just sound, is all we need know, to synchronise

Love to the beat of the show.

    And we could dance.

  • Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio!!!!

  • joy division is the best <3 love them

  • AMAZING THATS ALL I CAN REALLY SAY

  • New Order should sue the wombats or whatever

for putting joy division in such a dreadful song..

  • Lmao, no better way for an intro other than JCC.

  • 2:37-3:07 is just awesome. His eyes are soooo intense.

  • Yep, hate using the word "awesome", but Ian deserved that word as an accolade. Simply awesome!

  • R.I.P. Ian

  • and we can DAAAAAAAAANCE! wow, so so intense!!

  • incredible
