Thanks for uploading this, and also on the topdocumentary website. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Have always wanted to travel to Africa. I am now a Charley Boorman fan. :) Both of them are pretty funny.
agree with people here this is a dream for many of us and its nice to experience it through someone elses eyes because we cant do it ourselves. I'm looking forward to long way up through south america now.
I love this documentary, all of us dream about doing something like this one day.
There're a couple of other films from the 80's I guess, "mondo enduro " and "terra circa". Those guys did an incredible journey, longer, with about 1/4 of the LWD budget and on Suzukis 350cc. without back up trucks!!!!
I am in Thailand, on the countryside where there is no tourist industry.
The people are amazing here.
Open, friendly, happy, content with life, close family life, sharing,
they keep giving me food and drinks. I just have to say that if you release fear of other cultures you find we are all the same. And people who grew up poor are very often very healthy and beautiful. I have yet to visit Africa, and I look forward to do it some day. incredible beautiful, amazing, energetic, real people. Love
Going on a 4-month overland journey from Cairo to Cape Town very soon...really can't wait! Thank you sooo much for uploading the whole series...had the best time watching it!!!
This is a stupid accident, and should be a reminder to all of us bikers that even with a lot of experience we still gotta be extremely careful all the time.
thanks so much to kowaxkowax for uploading the load way down and long way round series, its been terrific fun! the best television series i've ever watched. thanks mate.
you have no idea how much i hate these guys right now! i would give my left nut... hell sod it both nuts to be able to do this! EPIC, well done chaps!
You know, I sort of liked how the production crew was more involved in this one. They have a good story, too. Eve's interference was upsetting but only because she is such a foreign element, not cause she's a woman, blah, blah. She's just not into it like them. I've seen some stuff about them doing another one and I really hope they do. It would be awesome if they came through Chicago again! Anyway, now that its over, I don't know what to do with myself. I've been engrossed in this show!
Ty for the upload Kowa....nice to see it again...still prefer long way round....for me claudio was amazing to film and ride and keep a sense of humour.
She spoilt it but c'est la vie....I would so love to do any of their trips...oh well...
I absolutley love this entire series :D i have been addicted to it the past few days!! thank you sooooo much kowaxkowax for posting this :D best series ever! cant wait to watch long way round because i haven't seen it yet and really looking forward to Long Way Up :D thanks again! <3
I loved the show and TY for posting it but I am so sad how different Charlie was with Ewan after Eve left :( If you really watch it they never really talk to each other after that and at the campfire their body language is so distant! They do talk at Betty's hill but it feels like an act for the camera and at the end they don't hug and celebrate like they did on LWR.....Eve really did spoil this one, I don't blame Ewan it is his wife but she should have let them have their adventure.
Claudio needs to get more credit for what he has composed here. Imagine where he had to go and what he had to do to get the shots he took - high shots of corners, close-ups of muck and mud, etc. Really a talented and dedicated cameraman.
And his last crash wasn't his fault, either, it would seem.
They should definately do a long way up and I think it might be best to start in South America than wrok their way up as far north as they can through Canada.
Africa touched us too Dave. LWR and LWD are the most amazing programs/films ever made. They bring out such a feeling of passion for the world and for motorcycle adventure. No doubt i'll be back to watch again.
THAT IS SO TRUE.. the last part of your journey is the most dangerous. ESPECIALLY on a motorcycle where concentration is 100% of the time all important.. I read somewhere that like 40% of all accidents (i think on bikes) happen within like 10 miles of where the person lives.
@speedee911 Can't agree more on this point. I remember a trip I did once, for the last leg of about 600miles but because of some minor problems, the 8hr (at the most) journey turned into almost 20hrs. I was fatigued but still kept pushing as I knew I was so close to home. I reached back with my eyes barely being able to open. That was the last time I allowed myself to get into such a situation.
Well the 4th or 5th time I've watched this, and every time I feel sad when it ends. Love this series more than I can say, its so inspirational and really brings together whats truely importent. I feel like I was there along with them for the whole thing, which is what makes this such a pleasure to watch. Il be back in a few months to watch again. Can't wait for the new one :-) Thanks for posting.
Amazing documentary! Thank so much for posting it! I read the book, and it was a joy to be able to watch this afterward. This was so wonderful in bringing the culture of Africa to the rest of the world. I love Charley and Ewan!
I can't thank you enough for posting this whole show as well as the "long way round"- do you know if anyone has posted Charley's show "by any means" where he travels from country to country by local means? I'd love if anyone had a link. These 2 series have been really touching and inspiring - my husband and I were just riveted throughout. THANKS AGAIN!!!
this documentaries make you wanna jump on your bike & ride forever, but then you come back to reality, you go out for a 2 hour ride...and your back for dinner time. XD
It was an awesome journey but i think to do it on my own without the support from the cars it would take you about 4-6 month`s i think. A really great trip from both of them!! Good job guys!!
Amazing trip, would love to have followed them, Both LWD and LWR are good but D was rushed to much. I would like to do something similar but im not a rider yet but have been loking at the Varadero 125 it looks the part but think will be ok for learner. Hope to see the guys do more trips maybe Canada to Peru or something similar.
:-) good to see so many people have follwed the Guys.
LWR is better in my opinion just so much more exciting alot less rushed i only really got into this one in the 6th episode lol i think when they do the next theyl probably make it longer because i dont thik they liked being rushed
Theres a documentaray featuring Charlie again with Dave travelling through europe towards India and down to Sydney if you were wondering but no bikes this time as they use whatever tarnsport they can find such as train, car, lorries, elephants and whatever. its called By Any Means look it up well worth watching!!!
Who's the other rider with them? From 2:29 to 3:35... he's in black with a gotee. He is also in vid 5-3 @ 5:34 and he's on a LWD bike. And it's not Claudio.
I loved this and LWD. Very watchable. Informal style made you feel you were there with them. Gotta thank Kowaxkowax (mind if I call you "Twin-ax", sorry electronics joke)for posting this I tried the official sites and they weren't working for me. Some moments; when that American kid nearly wiped out Obi Wan, (can you imagine him telling his mates?) and in both shows. "Daddyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!" choked me up. Good to publicise Unicef too. Wish I could take 3 months off and go round the world. lucky B's
Very good! Took awhile for LWD to get going, and for me to really enjoy it. LWR was a better watch for me. I didn't like how the support crew was always RIGHT there in LWD. I loved the solitary feel of three guys on bikes with nobody in sight which LWR gave.

in min 6:58 whats the name of the song i really think is like he says all begin there and its calling me more each time be sure live is a ride but sometimes some of us have the privileged to enjoy that ride never been more excited in my life make me want to ride with out stop thanks for sharing the videos with the ones who love to ride
Thanks for posting the series! I want to show my gratitude by touching you! haha... and from what I've heard in interviews, the next series is going to be the long way up, from bottom of south america to canada.
Alright Ewan and Charlie, time to do the north tip of alaska to the southern tip of south america!
