Charlotte fled from the Nazis, and didnt stand with her country! She's a scumbag monarch, while she was save, we had to suffer under the Nazis-.- Should have stand with us like the Danish monarch
Just watched The King's Speech. Incredibly moving. And to think that another Wartime Royal, Charlotte of Luxembourg, also used the power of radio to inspire and give hope to her people.

Easy for her to say these words. I would have admired her if she would have stayed and fight for her country, underground like many people did. These princes and princesses ran away from danger instead of staying put and fighting with their people. Is that the love these royals have for their country? Bull!!
It's easy for you to say this while living in a country that isn't under siege by a vast army. The Grand Duchess fulfilled a vital role during the war. People needed inspiration to continue to fight. You should perhaps read more about the history of the family during WWI and WWII because you clearly know nothing of what really happened. Perhaps you would then know that Princes Jean and Charles did fight with the allies.
I think that you are looking at it from a totally cynical point of view. If the family had remained then they would have almost certainly ended up as a puppet government seen to be in cahoots with the Nazi's. They wouldn't have become the beacon of hope that they did undeniably become. Every citizen of a country has love for it, Royals are no different perhaps more so.
Maybe I am cynical, but you see at the ripe age of 45, and having lived a little bit and experienced a few things I only consider that in a war only the poor people loose, they get killed, they loose even their shirts, the Royals, the politicians and very rich people usually do not loose much. What is it you admire so much about the Royals? What sacrifices do they make to have your admiration?
You know little about history... The Royals "usually do not lose much"... WWI swept away many monarchies (Russia/Germany/Turkey/ Austria/Hungary) with some royals executed. shortly after WWII, the Italian/romanian/bulgarian monarchies were ended. The losses in war are widespread and so easily divided up between the haves and the have nots

I don't admire them I can just sympathise with their situation. Difficult choices and even harder decision. We can't possibly imagine.

@freelancelady You obviously have no idea of the historic context! In 1914 they did exactly that and it almost cost the country its independance!
