All Class 91 locomotives 'face' north as per the standard IC225 formations, and are limited to 100mph when running blunt end first. The Mk2 set is obviously a railtour and these coaches are limited to 100mph anyway so its no problem.
When I first saw it I thought, maybe this was before they had fully electrified the ECML and perhaps tis was a temporary arrangement for trains from the North, to switch over to electric traction at this point.
Its definitely a railtour - all ECML stuff was HST-worked since early 1980s, except the odd KX-Leeds working. Its also all first-class stock (of what we can see) and seems to have a BR Railtour Mk1 behind the first 4 coaches - you can see it for a second - they were only used on railtours.
or, the 91 was taking over a hull - kings cross service perhaps, might not be a railtour, this was taken in 1989 anyway, and mark 1s were used that year, and the years running untill BR ended in 1995, or 96? :(
Im not convinced this was a railtour. I go with the idea it was a service train worked as far as Doncaster by the 47, for the 91 forward. Indeed my 1st ever trip behind a 91 was on a rake of Mk2's on a KX-Leeds not long after this video was filmed. And even after the Mark 4's entered traffic it was possible to see Mk2's hauled by 91's.
I am guessing this is when the 91 was a fairly new Loco?

@Cactus732 The ECML was only electrified in 89, so it was pretty much brand new!

fair enough

Yeah but... The first five coaches are all 'first class' - unlikely on a service train. railtour I reckon.
