You know, I've reacted and I've seen everything as a duck fan now. But... Nothing, nothing compares to this as just a fan, other teams have other moments, but nothing, no one, can put as meaningful a season into words as Jerry Allen. Ducks in BCS 2012 Championship. My heart is is in Eugene.
I'm sick of seeing people say Jerry Allen crying lol. Let me tell you as a fan and personal friend of Jerry Allen he is just as much Oregon Football as any player. As a dislocated duck this really reached out to me and made me proud to be a Duck. Go ducks.
All my years of listening to Jerry I never heard him cry. When the game had like 30 seconds to go I turned on the radio to hear his reaction and I was like WTF?!? Hahaha!
@broncoIIpete You probably stumbled upon this video while searching for civil war videos on the confederate army. Don't disgrace a true unadulterated moment of joy and pride.
Jerry's spent the last 23 years of his life broadcasting for the Ducks. He said his job as is to not be a fan, but he can't help himself. He represents the 1000s of fans who tune in every year to see our ducks represent the UO and this great state we live in. He represents those who endured seeing the ducks as a mere afterthought in the past, to becoming one of the nations best. It's about pride. Tears are more than acceptable. A real fan would know that.Go Ducks! Lets get the Natty!

My Gawd, Jerry this is just your job....reporting the action of a GAME!!!....I cried at the birth of my children and the death of my mother....I cried while watching video replays of people jumping to their death from the World Trade Centers to avoid burning to death during 9/11....I WILL NOT cry as a result of a simple college sports event and anyone that does should get a real life!
@actyak playing sports all my life, including football, it gets really emotional. in highschool playoffs we came so close just to getting into the state semi-finals but we lost by a field goal. it was heart-breaking it had every guy and girl after the game in tears.yes including me.
anyway my point is, alot of emotion comes with sports especially when you go thru what oregon did over the last year or so. everybody doubted them and they got proved wrong.
@Workin0nit I understand the emotions of sports...I have been involved all of my life...but the Ducks were favored to win the Pac-10 so it was no surprise. Its not as if they survived a plane crash that decimated half of the team and came back to score 40 points in a game to win their final game.
Ido congratulate the University of Oregon for a great season and their role in the national championship game. I will watch and be entertained by student athletes.
@billyfan8305 I am a college football fan AND the Ducks are my favorite team to follow BUT lets keep things in perspective. College football...as entertaining as it can be....is still JUST a game and doesn't compare anywhere near things that are truly important in life to cry about while simply doing your job as an announcer. I say to other Duck fans who live and die whether the team goes up a notch in the polls to perhaps look at the broader picture of life and see things that truly matter.
My heart is literally in my throat...I'm glad I didn't hear this when the game was actually ending, I would've lost it. Be proud Ducks - one more to go.
@VBigFoot13 I haven't yet found a "clean" mp3 of the call, but there's a video response to mine that uses the original audio, so it's floating around out there somewhere. You could always make your own mp3 using audio capture on a free program like Audacity. Good luck!
It's so great to see all these Duck fans sharing a great moment in time. Can't wait to see them play for that big crystal trophy. GO DUCKS!!!
Jerry Allen you are outstanding. The Sitka Duck is so excited and celebrating with all Ducks everywhere. Dane, all Alaskans are thrilled you are on this Ducks Team.
Thank you Jerry Allen for all the years. Go Ducks!!!! Pj the Sitka DUck
I have only been a duck fan for about 15 years...which seems like a long time to me but to guys like Jerry Allan who have been true supporters since before I was born really make me appreciate everything the ducks have done. And without guys like Phil Knight, Pat Kilkenny, Jerry Allen, Mike Belloti, Rich Brooks, and many more, NONE of this would be possible.
Independence Bowl? Top 25? Hell, it wasn't all that long ago, when I was there, the Beavers were the only team we could beat, and we were happy with that! This is unbelievable.
It really is unbelievable. Not that long ago they were absolutely elated to get into the Independence Bowl, or something similar. To be in the top 25 was cause for celebration. This is REALLY a big day.
@beavernation112 and ur an 10 year old boy who doesn't know shit about football next time you say ur 20 years old you shouldn't put videos of yourself online when ur actually 10

LOL what a joke. Congrats to the announcer for having NOTHING to do with this team's success and crying about it like his own son was on the team.

Jerry, The Pick still gives me goosebumps. Now, so does this.
Congrats Beavs, you fought hard.
was at the game, Beavs were gracious hosts.
There were a few people saying Go Auburn, and even a guy wearing a beaver jersey and Auburnn hat (puke), but for the most part great fans.
Don't worry Beavs, we don't wanna rub this national title in your face, like the Oregonian said.
We are gonna rub this one in the stupid Huskies face.
Cuz this ain't gonna be a shared title your purple wearing girls!!
