Well I say he was lucky and a skilled pilot.
He got both of the engines to touch the water at the same time. If one of them was to touch the water it would fill up and sink the aircraft.

Sully had it VERY EASY, he had no turbulance, no rain, and visibilty (landscape and 2 eyes). Want so se Real Hero Pilot, type on the words "taca airlines 110" and watch.
This Captain landed in wet grass (came out of the rainclouds after gliding IFR. Came out of the rain cloudsat about 900 feet agl, did a perfect left gliding turn, aligned, dropped gear and full flaps, gliding turn it perfectly, avoided ditching in the Lake.. NOW who is better?
