My question is this: being do not here with the expansion of the lower teeth. The reason is that 23 years age. However, with the possible operation happening.

Is the lower jaw expander inserted by surgery? Orthodontists have searched but can not be extended in this way too, they say. However, with the possible operation happening. Can you help me I would be glad if you show me and the way.

U hav some of the stuff I hav. My mouth Is like a metal robot. I hav a herbst, upper expander (trex), lower expander (trex), I hav 4 TADS, braces, and a reverse pull headgear that's wired in. It's a lot of pain in the mouth. I can't take the headgear off. It sucks. We r metal buddies!!! How many times a day do u tighten everything ????????

and you get used to it very easily. trust me. (:

Your jaw liek actually moves a lot faster then you think. and when you get it taken off. You mouth will kind of feel like you can't move it, because your so used to it. but it's super nice to be able to open your mouth with out squeaking. (: GOODLUCK! (:

TrueBlueAustralian, if your bite can be fixed with the head gear then I would wear the head gear to. My husbands bite and my daughters bite can't be fixed other than surgery. My husbands surgery went wrong. The surgery was bad. I hope you do well.

Expanders move teeth outwards...

Dont worry your ortho will show you anything you might need, dont stress and have fun with them.. :)

I am impressed by your candor in showing and explaining your experience. You have my admiration. Amazing gadgetry you have experienced. I had braces many years ago using the labio-lingual technique -- uninteresting, ineffective. ineffective. Over the years, $75,000+ in dental work did not work. I now have dentures. However, have thought it would be a great adventure to replicate your hardware, on a set of spare dentures. How much might your ortho charge to install such hardware on a "dummy?"

Awesome Braces rock.! They can cost 3k upwards.. I think i got them for a couple of years. Head gear is only a few hours a day. Yes will need a retainer for a few years after it. Awesome you should get some braces go see a ortho you dont need a referral, and they will let you pay them off. Depends on the wisdom teeth have to ask your ortho about them.

the herbst is not a real bad or good thing it doesnt hurt but it feels akward you might cut your cheek with it but you should feel better after a while i reccomend eating soggy foods more then soups and whatever you do dont open your mouth realy tall or the bar will come out the tube i should know because i have the expander herbst combo but it might be different for you because your mouth is like 80% metal

I really want the telescopic herbst because of the mouth opening problem it scares me to death, and i know i yawn alot. But they say no i have to have the normal one with two rods. Flip lock Herbst with expander. I am also hoping because i have the braces and expander it might be less of an effect on me.. Thanks again.

herbst appliance really isnt that bad at all, its a little uncomforatble and its a pain when u eat cuz food gets stuck under the bars, but it really isnt that bad, it dosnt hurt at all, except when you first get them the screws poke ur cheeks and the inside of ur mouth and that kinda hurts but you get use to it

The ortho will tell you how often to turn the key and for how long, It hurts a little nothing to worry about. I worried about being an adult and having to go into all this braces and hardware and what people will think, but have been disappointed most people dont notice, other people notice and are supportive..
