I wouldn't say it's my favourite album, but all this 'sell-out' stuff is rubbish. Surely it's different. It's heavier than their last few albums, but in fact, the heaviness is reminiscent of their first few releases, especially Solitude.Dominance.Tragedy.

Whether we like it or not, they've gone to a more poppy and accessible sound, but if you look back, they've been moving in this direction over the last few albums. Each one seems to be more stripped down than the last. I still love the band, but I definitely prefer the older stuff.

p.s. What is so different about this "story version"? It looks exactly the same to me.

IMO Evergrey didn't sell out. The song is not as progressive as the old stuff and the whole album is catchier and not as - well, let's use the word progressive again - as the old albums. But still, the album kicks ass, IMO. It's just a nice piece of music, and I have a lot of respect for Evergrey and especially for Mr. Englund.

Agree that recreation day is their best.. but this album is pretty kick ass minus a couple of songs... "Lost" is extremely well written and catchy and could easily be a top 40 song. IMO, "sell outs" are pretty much what ever band dreams of.

I think that you guys should realise that it´s impossible for a musician to make the same sound over & over again. That´s the real sell out. Diferent times bring diferent feelings and diferent inspiration. Evergrey knows better than anyone what´s their own sound. Just try to think of the hours taken to make this record and realise that´s impossible to be a sell out. Personally i think this is a damn good album.

It's cool that youre into prog at your age, but you've got a lot to learn. The whole point of the genre is to progress and not sound the same on every album. This is not my favorite Evergrey album either, but they definately did not sell out.
